Have you ever felt uncomfortable with long hair? If you ask me, I'm uncomfortable. I live in a tropical country. Long hair makes me feel itchy easily. If I lived in a sub tropical country, I'd probably cut my hair starting in the spring (so I don't feel hot and itchy), and when the fall started, I'll grow my hair out (so that I feel warm in cold temperatures).

Growing out your hair will also make you realize that people judge you and treat you differently based on your appearance. This is especially true for people who socially interact with many people everyday. Even people you thought were close friends might change. I think it's more beneficial to go in knowing this but if you don't you will probably learn from first hand experience It just depends on how you look with short hair and how you look with long hair.
@jorgefleitao

Long hair on guys has been around historically, off and on, forever. In our culture, it's been around pretty much since the 1960's. So you'd think people would be used to it and less judgmental. Au contraire! I can promise you judgments are made about you as a person all the time BECAUSE of your long hair. This can be a real issue at times. For example, my hair is down to the middle of my back. I'm 70 years old. Whenever cops look at me, they assume I do drugs or deal in drugs or both. I never have done any drugs and this includes pot. Now I have one ear pierced, so that probably doesn't help, but no tattoos. It's the hair that gets the attention. I also think you're less likely to be picked for a jury with long hair, which is unfortunate because I believe that jury service is an important civic responsibility.
@platinumpepe8626

Thats why I don't interact with people
@ariqaradaghi3837
@ariqaradaghi3837 Год назад
In my opinion that superficiality of people is specifically why you should go for it! It works like a filter, you'll really get to know what people are made of, it reveals the superficiality and depth of those around us. I've broken off 6-year long friendships because of this and I don't regret it... You have to understand that friendship/kinship should not be conditional on looks. There are far more important things to consider than that, and if someones that superficial, the long hair is doing you a favor to rid you of them...

As someone who grew out my hair because of COVID, I'm going to say that everyone one of the "negative points" you made is actually a positive. It all comes down to the first point you made, "are you patient enough?" COVID lockdown was a perfect opportunity for me as I didn't see anyone outside of anyone outside of close family and friends. I think that some of the points you made are actually opposite, like styling. When my hair was shorter, I could never get it to do the same thing every day because it had a mind of its own. Now that it's longer, I can just put it up until it's dry and go from there. I personally enjoy the hair care side of it, and would do that with shorter hair anyway. I kinda feel like this was clickbait, but you did bring up some good points for someone who has never grown their hair out, but the end result is so much more worth all the doubts and negativity. And if you grow your hair out long, just cut it off, it's as simple as that. I feel like everyone should try it, without question or doubt.

I've been growing mine since the pandemic started, about a year and half ago, and I think the main struggle of letting it grow is that when u have a short hair u just care about it when ur going out or when u have to wash it. With a longer hair, taking care of it becomes a routine, and If u're not patient to have that routine ur hair will become ugly and unhealthy. Loved the vid bro Um abraço!

Good luck growing out your hair. I've had long hair since retiring from the military. Respectfully suggest two, or three, large 'toothed' combs, nonscented shampoo and cream rinse, and a high quality pair of scissors for trimming about 2 to 3 millimeters from your ends about every 4 to 6 months. Detangle ALL hair SLOWLY, or expect massive hair loss. All the best.

I'm 70 and have been growing my hair for 2 years. I've had it long 3 or 4 times in my life. I'm lucky to still have a full head of hair. All the criticisms, insults, etc. I dealt with decades ago when long hair on men was just coming into fashion. (hippie days) So it doesn't bother me now. But the time it takes to care for the hair, does! I never blow dry my hair so I must anticipate my shower so I don't go to bed with wet hair or go out in the morning with it wet if I shower when I get up. But through it all, I still like it. When will I cut it again? Who knows?

I had my hair long for the half of my life, so I decided for a change because of how hot it is when I work and cut my hair short. No matter what you say they'll still do you the stupid fade haircut, it's dumb, it fking sucks. I told my wife to slap me if the madness gets to me again to cut my hair.

I'm growing my hair, and when I got into the messy stage I got laughed at, a lot, there was even this guy that always laughs at my hair and yells at me everyday to get a haircut and he is the reason I will not do it. But it does makes me feel bad and I lately figured out through friends that a lot of the people I study with are laughing at my hair behind my back and as someone who experienced bullying in the past and developed as a result social anxiety this is super painful, idk why I'm writing it, I guess I just wanted to get it off my heart and take off my smile mask for a second and be mad, or maybe this is the closest I can do to shame them like they did to me, anyway if you want to grow your hair you need to take into account that there are some fucked up people in the world that can't accept what they don't like and you need to accept that eventually karma will happen and thier personality will make them miserable

I used to be a longhaired man. Now, I am a balding, necessarily short-haired man in my late-20s. I've always liked long hair on men. It just looked awesome to me. Unfortunately, my dad (and his dad before him) went bald in their 20s. I knew that I probably wouldn't have much time left if I wanted to count myself amongst the longhairs at least once in my life when I was around 17 years old. So I decided that it was now or never and began to grow it out. Around the age of 21, I had achieved long, reasonably dense hair. A straight, hazel brown waterfall with natural dark-blonde highlights. And I was happy as can be about it. But my pride didn't end there. I even pitied those men who didn't grow out their full heads of hair, for they were limiting themselves to the hairstyles of ancient slaves, medieval serfs and modern soldiers. Heelers, in short. I, on the other hand, wore the majestic hairstyle of medieval kings, of free Scots, of ancient wise philosophers, of Samson the Nazirite, Tarzan of the Apes and Conan the Cimmerian! The shorthairs, on the other hand, were letting conservative, boring society, peer pressure and picky women decide how to wear their hair whilst my idols and I did not. I was a fool. Because from then on out, it all slowly went downhill for me. At 22, I noticed the first signs. The hair at my temples didn't grow as long or as dense as it used to do just one year prior. And my hairline slowly began to show baby hairs where there were none before. At first, I ignored those signs as unimportant hairline maturation. But by age 23, I noticed a slight decrease in hair density almost all across my hairline. I. was. devastated. F*cking genetics! It had taken me half a decade to grow my beloved 20+ inches mane and just when I finally had it all in place, my genes decided that it was time for me to lose it. Fudge! I didn't want to go down without a fight though. So I bought me some minoxidil and went at it. Until around age 25, this helped stabilize my situation. But it still wasn't what it used to be in my early 20s. Now I had to use clip-in extensions on my temples and brown hair powder on my crown and on my hairline just to successfully mask the loss which had occurred so far. But even that wasn't meant to last. The decline marched on. By age 26/27, my carefully cared-for hair was frisky and of uneven length. It always looked slightly unkempt despite my best efforts to make it look presentable. I began losing overall length and had to use more and more tricks to mask my situation. I grew more and more unhappy with each passing year. Finally, at age 28, my family staged an intervention. 'It is time', they said. And I couldn't deny it any longer - because they were absolutely right. I had long since stopped to enjoy my long hair. Quite the opposite: it only caused me pain to look at my dwindling strings by then. Year by year, I looked more and more like an aging hippie despite only being in my mid- to late-20s. Truth be told, despite the hope that hereditary hair loss would pass me over, I'd planned on cutting it all off if hairloss ever got to me when I had started my hair journey at age 17. I didn't want to look like a self-denying middle-aged loser who can't accept the fact that he's heading for Dome City. But as the years went by, my resolve began to falter. You see, for me, being long-haired was part of my personality, my very being. It had felt so good, so right to have long hair when I was in my early 20s. Getting rid of it at age 28 felt like giving up on my best me; like giving up on my youth. Right now, at age 29, I still wished that I had a full head of long hair instead of a boring Norwood 3 short haircut of necessity . But I also realize now that I should have gotten rid of my thinning locks by the time I turned 24, or 25 at the very latest. I spend so much time in an unhappy state instead of leaving that done part of my life behind and looking forward. We are living in an age where male pattern baldness isn't curable. It will take decades to overcome this disease. All I can hope for is that future generations of longhaired men will be spared this hurtful fate. To any longhaired men reading this, I can only give the advice of fully enjoying your long mane while it lasts - but also to be ready to let it go when the time comes.

"No, I'm not going to cut it. No, I don't look like a girl. Yes, I'm just going to let it grow." But it's not all bad. A lot of people, especially girls and women for some reason, really like how it looks. I often get compliments (from guys too, but less often) of people genuinely liking how my hair looks. And someone asked "how is your hair so straight" and I didn't know what to say because I don't have any products or anything, I just brush my hair daily and wash it once a week (drying hair takes too long and is a CHORE -- this doesn't mean I only shower once a week. I shower 4 times a week). I just think it is so odd how much interactions change after slightly altering appearance. Answering your questions at the end, I absolutely adore long hair on men and even tried growing it out myself, but a shaven look (or extremely short hair) just suits me and my face sooo much better. It looks more stylish, neat and eye-grabbing. That's my opinion but also almost everybody says the same. I have straight blonde hair btw. So I'm in this weird spot where I want to have long hair but I don't like how they look on me, especially compared to short/shaven. Was actually planning on buying a wig :)))) and wearing it, when I really feel the urge to gwoe my hair out I also somehow I think that long hair looks better on men if it's wavy/curly/so on.

These are more like reasons why most guys give up on growing their hair. Not that all guys shouldnt try it. Personally got tired of having the same boring look every day having to get a cut like every other week. My hair is much curlier so it takes longer to get a lenghty look but i get a compliment at least once a day at work, something which ive never had with short hair. I believe im past the really awkward stage at this point. Getting small trims every other month at mainly the sides and back towrds the bottom ends helps keep it from looking too terrible. Within 10 months ive gone from a super short cut to being able to bun up at least the top half of my hair. Everyones hair type grows differently and at different rates. It Takes time and patience as youve said. But basically Youll never really know if long hair is for you if you dont ever grow it out at least once

One year and two month of growing hair, a bit longer than you. Patience is paying off. Just don't cut your hair if you plan on growing your hair. And just don't think about your hair.

In Serbia, it's like this: "Cut your hair! You look like a girl. Men shouldn't have long hair" And then im like, you know that in the past men had pretty long hair. Mostly in medieval ages etc.

My advice as a male with hair that reaches to his midback, don't grow it out if you aren't going to be dedicated to it. If you have curly hair (like me), prepare to invest more time. Research about haircare is very important. Curly hair needs tons of research, especially. Also, eat healthy (excess of fresh fruits and vegetables, few sugars). Consider hair growth pills (I use curlsmith).

I'm 40 now, but I've been having long hair since I was 15 year old! The only hard thing it's to learn how to maintained it, specially if you have wavy curly hair lije my case! And about what people thing it's not important because every person is it's on world!

For example, a man should protect a woman. Hair absorbs emotions. So if he is more sensitive than her, it is so much stress, most women non verbally (we perceive 90% non verbal) see a guy with longer hair over shoulder and instantly avoid him. Whereas middle long hair or style longer curly hair on top is great. Caring, but masculine enough. A man should never have more femininity than the woman herself. How could we be the female one in his arms, if he is perceived as half woman?

I actually like the long hair because you can notice it less, the man bun is the cleanest hair style you can have, nothing in your face. My friend has medium hair and he can't do anything to keep it under control, even hair bands can't keep the peaks under control and he hates it flopping around when he runs.

22 month no hair cut covid got me here. I just stopped cutting it. The awkward period became a ball cap period. I'm at shoulder length now going for mid back before I take a cut. Want the end of my pony tail to look like a high quality paint brush. I do notice that people stare a lot. Occasionally I get one or two unhappy souls who ask why I don't cut my hair. If you stare at stupid people silently long enough they simply walk away

The point of being an introvert with long hair is spot on. Damn, I hate people coming at me or start making conversation and end up judging the way I look. Like excuse me hello, could you just mind your damn business? I'm growing my hair not to please you. 😂 The other reason why I grow my hair is so I can make an excuse like, "oh nice to meet you too but please excuse me, I'm in a hurry, my hairdresser is waiting. See ya, bye". Socializing less, me time more. ✊

Just on the last point, you still need to visit the barbers (or hairdressers) at least once every couple of months to tidy up the ends of your hair, especially if you're using heat to style your hair. I say this as a guy with hair down to his midback. You will ruin your hair if you skip on a tidy up
