I've been in love with Corvette since 1969. The C7 is the Corvette that set my soul on fire. While I don't own mine yet, I did drive a '14 with a stick in '21. That was the highlight of my life. A right, proper Corvette is a front engine, rear wheel drive sports car., I believe a manual transmission is necessary to complete the experience.
Curious. If it's common knowledge that the word "mine" implies ownership why did you choose to say "while I don't own *mine* yet" instead of "while I don't own *one* yet"? Did you do it to pretend it was more real & if so how do you think that comes across to other men? It's always the guys that say things like "when I get mine" then when you ask them how far along they are on working towards their goal you find they haven't even started.
@@gsxr1189 I think most men would be much more annoyed by your comment than Tenorman's. You have nothing better to do than pick apart random comments on a YT video? I'm guessing you haven't gotten that far towards your own goals, because if you had, you probably wouldn't be wasting time picking others apart over absolute BS on the internet. Or maybe you're just a demoralization bot? Or a communist?
@@gsxr1189 I subscribe to the law of attraction therefore, since my Vette is in my imagination, it's as good as in my garage. Since I've become a student of the law of attraction, I've looked back over my life and discovered I spoke into reality everything I have right now. Therefore, referring to my Corvette as mine, that draws it faster.
@Tenorman51 Can't tell if serious but you do you. I subscribe to the law of effort. I believe the harder I work the more I "attract" the things I want for my life & my Vette is in my PFP.
I own and love my c7, however I have a slightly different list. The trans in the c8 was phenomenal when I got to drive one for a few laps and the power and grip was noticeably way better comparing my stock z51 c7 to the stock z51 c8. What I missed most was not being able to see any hood at all, which is a huge favorite part of my driving experience. But ya totally agree on only having spent just over 50k including mostly visual performance mods (grill swap, front and rear splitters, side skirt, zr1 style high wing) and an AWE touring exhaust, I honestly wouldn't trade, just save up for that magnuson supercharger and call it a wrap! Nice car dude!
I have a 2019 C7 GS and just test drove a C8 yesterday. It was a non z51 2lt. Dealer had just put brand new tires on it and got an alignment on it. Stock for stock of course it's faster but the exhaust is not as loud and it felt heavy to me. The seats were very comfortable and everything was easy to get to and use. Sound system was great but honestly the bose in the 2lt GS sounds great as well. The front lift is a nice feature as well as blind spot monitoring! In my opinion the GS rides just as smooth probably because or the wider tires and body. C7 just feels more raw and feels like an actual Vette while the C8 seems more refined but to me kind of boring until you floor it. I wouldn't give up my C7 for it at all!
As a former Vette owner (427 c6) there is nothing better than shifting the gears yourself. I'm old school and don't like the not being able to do that. I have warmed up to the C8's but if I get another Vette I'm going c7 z06. That car has it all.
Love my C7, even though I had to bypass the AFM (worst thing ever). Triple flush your transmission fluid if you have fluttering in the C7 A8 transmission. Muffler delete and pull the fuse for the exhaust valves. Now my C7 is way better.
Love the corvetts pre2020. Me and my car buddies feel the same. The new c8 is just not the same. We like the dying stigma that it's a car for old retired dudes because today we're seeing them modified and owned by younger dudes/ dudetts as well
I had a C6 and now am the happy owner of a 2019 2LT Grand Sport Long Beach Red Metallic, Kalahari interior and Chrome rims. I also have an automatic. I had a manual in my C6. I love my C7 because of the storage room for road trips. Unless you have the convertible C8 you have no room for luggage. I did a road trip on the pacific coast Hwy and with soft luggage and careful loading I was able to anchor my targa roof for open air driving. If you bought alot of stuff you could do so but would lose the open air experience. I ran into a couple with a C8. They said the seating was more cramped than the C7 they previously owned. It is subjective but I think my C7 is better looking than the C8. I was parked at an ocean viewpoint. A woman came up to me and asked if she could take a picture of my car. Almost any time I am out driving my GS someone says nice car even kids.
I’m getting a C8 couldn’t be happier. I love C7s too though considered getting one. But inflation hit the C7Z06 way to hard. Im getting a C8 stingray non Z51. For MSRP
I love the C6 and C7 Grand Sport and Z06 models. I agree that ZR1 is king. The C8 is a revolutionary step for Corvette. That Arkus-Duntov had wanted to go mid-engine way-back-when makes this an acceptable revolution in my opinion. I appreciate Chevy's interest in making Corvette a higher performing car with the E-Ray platform and the higher-pitched Z06 engine. I suspect the C8 hyper-Vette will be named Zora and not ZR1, and I also think that is fine, maybe even fitting. And when I fire up my C7 GS, I love the rumble of the Corvette heritage. I'm keeping mine.
Great points for sure, To each his own! Owned both and to me it’s not close C8 & now Z-06, just breaking in, hands down are better. Nostalgia or latest tech hopefully eventually we’ll be able to tune them.
I'm just going to say this..I hallo had a C7 1LT 2016.manuel...I love it..but I bought a 2LT 2p23 C8..and I REALLY love my C8..it's all about what you like...
As a current owner of a C8 and a previous owner of a C7 I totally disagree the c8 gaines way more attention and all-around feels like a more stable fast car on the track the C7 being Rwd with front-engine does not handle as well also fuel economy my c8 gets three and a half miles per gallon more than my C7 in my opinion that is why the C7 is cheaper than C8 the C7 when it came out was the same reaction as a C8 when it came out just a revolutionary body change however the C7 is outdated and although the prices of the c8r through the roof about 7 months ago you were able to get a sub 100,000 in Washington state at least I picked up mine for 97,000 however I understand that you are posting photos of it being a Z06 specifically C7 vs. C8 which is how you should have titled it in all honesty if you would have title that that way it would have made more sense but if you compare the C7 to the C8 vs. C7 is an outdated version and all-around not a great car compared to the c8 if you put it on the track dragstrip it doesn't really matter it will outshine the C7 any day of the week driving C7 and a c8 and I guarantee you it'll be way more eyes on the C8
Amen brother. I went up from a 2015 Corvette C7 Z51 to a 2022 C8 Z51. The difference is like night and day. I get WAY more attention in the C8 than I ever have in the C7. Performance wise the C8 being mid-engine and DCT completely obliterates the C7 Stingray. Handling is also extremely tight in the C8 compared to the C7. C8 is just an all-around better vehicle from almost every aspect you look at. The only thing I miss on my C7 is the 7 speed Rev Match Manual gearbox.
I agree that C7's in the Stingray trim are a bit bland but I think he's comparing C7 Z06's to C8 Stingray's due to the price. I wouldn't say that C7 Z06's don't get attention especially one's that are well spec'd. My car's in my PFP touch red z06 w/Z07 pack & I can hardly put gas in it without ppl walking up & wanting to talk about the car. Driving down the freeway everyone especially ppl with slower cars want to try to get me to race just to see the car in action. Women start smiling at you when you get out of it. Ppl ask me to roll down the windows at stop lights to talk about the car. It gets compliments everywhere it goes probably more so than a C8 Stingray. I didn't expect the car to get this much attention & honestly I'm not sure I like it was fun at 1st but it's a bit too much for me. The attention a car gets isn't a selling point for me but on the street I doubt a C8 would be willing to race unless it was a z06 & even then it's a draw. Personally I wouldn't be interested in a Vette in the Stingray trim because you're down so much horsepower you aren't getting the experience a car like a Vette is supposed to be giving you. I'd always be left wishing it had more juice.
C7 2014 stingray L3 owner and I love it picked mine up for 32k blacked out red interior great car, I cant wait to drive a C8 but Im extremely happy with my C7
I own a C7 Z06 with just 12k miles and my list is : 1. It's better looking. A long-hood look that looks like a Vette, not a car trying to be something else. 2. Mine has a 7-speed manual. 'Nuff said. 3. Much higher top speed of 205 MPH 4. The price is half as much as a new Z06 5. Superior engine note. Much deeper than the new Z06, and fuller than the standard C8 Stingray
I agree with u men!! I have a dodge charger rt hemi loved it but soon ima trade it for c7 like urs but in white for 65k i feel great deal only 10 do miles
Depends on if you'd like your car to sound like an iconic American beast or sound like a European latte sipping soy boy. My pipes play the song of my people flat plane cranks do not.... 🇺🇲
I wanted a base model manual (7MT) coupe for the longest time. The only other 7MT’s available, were either through Aston Martin or Porsche; which idk if they’ve killed off or not yet (probably did)….
I've owned my C7 Z51 (Manual), since 2017 and wouldn't trade her for any other model corvette. I've added a lot of mods over the years and it's addictive! Lol, I'm sending her to VR this spring to have even more goodies put on. She should be hitting about 750-800hp to the wheels when they're done. It's gonna be a fun summer!!!
I own a 2018 z06 3lz with carbon ceramics making 741 wheel, I test drove a c8 and it just falls on its face after 2nd gear, very unimpressed, I haven’t gotten a chance to drive the c8 z06 yet, I did like the interior but the rawness of the c7 is real muscle car to me, the biggest reason I won’t buy a c8 is there’s no tuning , you can’t do anything to it 🤦♂️ , I did see that pro charger came out with a kit that uses the factory ecm, but it’s 20-22k just for the kit 30k installed 🤣😂
Hey Scott, can you please reach out to me regarding your Z06. I’m targeting that horsepower that your car has and want to hear about your build. I have a 17 Z06 with some mild bolt ons.
After six Vettes, from C5's to my current C7 Z51 7MT 1 LT Conv I will remain a C7 owner, why? Number one, I would lose my manual tranny, and number two.....price. But the C8 is an amazing vehicle, the first time you can claim supercar looks/numbers with GM numbers........
While I get you on some points, I think this review will be nice to see redone after the C8 gen is complete. The ZR1 has already been confirmed, and another platform has been confirmed past that (Likely the Zora) so we are very likely to see boosted from the factory in the near future. Also with the pricing, you're comparing 4-8 year old used cars to cars that just came out in a recession economy post-covid, where they are unable to meet production. You can see this broken economy in the ZR1 resale where some are going up to the $200k mark used as well. So, I think the fair comparison would have been to make it New MSRP vs new MSRP. Otherwise, I totally get there are a lot of opinions, and whatever car you like should be the car you want, and that's always what matters! Cool video and I look forward to seeing you switch to a C8 in the future ;) haha. Also, that is a beaut of a C7 zo6!
I don’t like the new Italian signature design look, not for me and I’m know I’m not the only one to dislike this proportions I rather the old Dodge Viper look alike that the corvette had with front engine and that huge displacement
If you want to have a great car and have it appericate its easy the c7 Z06 manual that car will go up in value last front engine last manual will be super desirable
ford & dodge both have super cars (ford gt & viper) now corvette has their super car, c8 zo6 (i personally wouldnt classify the c8 as a super car, but a muscle car)
I've owned 15 Vettes since 1989. My current ride is a '19 ZR1 ragtop, Sebring Orange Tintcoat. It's an animal on steroids and definitely a 'keeper.' My next Vette will likely be the C8 Zora but I will wait for owner reviews and a fair deal. Not going for any of the crazy 'market adjustment' pricing.
Do you hear that rumble it sounds just like my neighbors, charger and challenger and Mustang. Oh, because we all use the same aftermarket exhaust. Lol.
I have a C7 Z06. Can't see giving up the massive torque for a C8. And the C8Z is reedick $$$ as noted. Have also heard complaints about visibility out of the C8.
The AFM and DOD kills the automatic platform for me. A manual is a must and it doesn't have that garbage. Does the C8 Z06 have AFM? I am not sure with the flat plain crank. I must say that I have a built supercharged 06 Gto and the C8 and C7 base models feel slow. A C7 Z06 or ZR1 being supercharged is what it would take for me to buy one. I honestly like my Gto better than a Vette. You may think I am crazy but it is what it is.
All good points hence I just went with base Stingray C8. I would not pay the price difference for Z06 even at MsRp it is 40-50k more at top trim. Zr1 and Zora all to push the delta even more possibly 100k plus. When it comes to C7 I just would not buy it for the interior finish. The C8 is still not 911 finish on the inside but it sure is 100 times better and it does now feel like the price point it is charging. C7 ZR1 was well over 130k when new and yes it was supercharged but 60k base stingray beats it in performance simple na engine with it moving to the back. I am one of the buyers like many other buyers who only considered the corvette with it being a mid engine car. You give me a C7 I will sell it and buy another car and that can be any other car as the C7 can never appeal to me.
Zora the creator of corvettes! Originally wanted the car to be mid engine. Not front engine. So they went the direction they always wanted to begin with.
I have a C7 Z-51 7 speed Corvette and my car with same accessories is 20 k more in a C8 I have almost 10 years driving my C 7 for 66k miles plus storage space is big enough for golf clubs luggage etc for 2 people I drive my car and have never track it which needs extra insurance
Let’s go to where corvette came from it started out with a blue flame in-line 6 cylinder. Then they moved to exclusively small block v8s and then added big block v8s. It was around the C3 that the idea of going mid engine was imagined and rejected. There were lots of ideas that were never taken past just concept to progress the corvette to where is today. Keeping this in mind. My opinion the mid engine was inevitable but I feel the current c8 mid engine should have been a limited production branch platform than the actual corvette platform exclusively… for example release a C8 front engine legacy Corvette in mass production and have it match price demographics of what should be expected to be a corvette and then release like 600-700 a year exclusive mid engine corvettes and call it something like ZR1, Grand Sport, GT1R, C8R or King of the Hill or something of the like... they did branch the XLR off the corvette it was its own car but it had a lot of corvette in it. There has always been a special corvette that will out perform every other run of the mill corvette so I feel this would have been a better plan. As for the exhaust I have other opinions you are correct on the legacy corvette sound but for higher end models they should have that for idle to about 3000 rpm. Any thing above that should start to sing harmonics like a single plane crank v8 or well tuned 180 cross plane crank.
I'd rather pay the premium for the C8 Z06 than buy a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Porsche. But I do prefer the C7 Z06 over the C8. Can't beat the performance of the C7Z....even if you pay top dollar for it.
While I agree I’m not paying well over 100k for a GM product….. the c8 to me is superior to the c7. If I had a c7 would I get rid of it for a c8… probably not. But if I’m buying one today im definitely picking the c8 no question
I laughed so fucking hard when you said the c7 stingray engine is better than the c8 stingray engine when the c8 stingray is the same fucking engine with few adjustments! To fit the new gear box! 🤣
I was battling between a c6 and a c7 and in my opinion the c6 look so much sexier, all i did was buy c7 interior and put it inside of my c6. I just thought the c7 were too bulky and looked clunky to me
Nate what exhaust do you have on your C7??? I'm going to get my exhaust change from stock and your sound just the way I want mine too so what do you have???
You also forgot to say first and last with 7 speed manual transmission. C7 corvettes only need 6 mods on z06 c7 to get 1500 hp when I saw the mods on procharger also mix with Callaway cooling also replacing cam and crank high stroke with afm delete plus replacing the intake with lt2 producing 1496 hp say 1500 hp on the title of the video was shocking
For Corvette zr1 or zora ..I think gm she reverse engineer Koenigsegg ccr8 automatic manual and make a barn burner boosted 800- 900_1000 hp vette with 7 speed manual that would be crazy
I own a c7 corvette grandsport. I have seen many c8 corvettes and also have rode in one. I have to say the c8 is an impressive car but it is not for me. It doesnt feel like a corvette or an american car. The interior is nice but i dont like that or care for it much and the looks of the car just looks like a cheaper ferrari. I love the C7 corvette for its classic sports car body that will always look good and that low rumble but loud classic V8 sound. The c7 is also easy to work on. I love the interior of the c7 it is just driver focused and nothing crazy going on its perfect drivers car. I wont be getting a C8 and i dont think the c8 deserves the vette name
C7 is sooooo much sexier! I have never liked Corvettes, UNTIL the C7 came out. That car is perfect! The C8 looks like every other Eurotrash model out there.
Would expect nothing less from a C7 owner😂😂😂 - I watched and waited for the C8 since 2015 I saw it online and thougt it was supposed to debut in 2018!! I fell in love and almost purchased an artic white C7 with red interior but decided to wait and sooo glad I did because I would've been stuck with the C7 teying to convince myself that its better than the C8😂😂😂😂😂
You kept saying "cross-plane" when you meant (or, at least I HOPE you "meant") "flat-plane". The LT1, LT2, LT4, and LT5 are all cross-plane V8s. The LT6 is a flat-plane V8.
Why would it matter what a company wants to do with their product if I am an artist and I have always been painting seascapes and then I want to start painting trees you can either buy them or not but telling me that I should go back to painting what I used to paint it is moot if you like a different product buy someone else’s work or paint it yourself
As a owner of 7 different Corvettes over my life from a C3 to C7 I must say for the first time ever I don't really want a new one. I think the C7 looks much better than the C8. We were all proud an American looking car was beating Europe and at 1/2 price. Now C8 owners look they gave up and joined Europe. No thanks , not for me.
I own a c7 and I love it, but this guy has a really weird way to say he can’t afford a C8 Z06. Is the first time in history that I hear that look, sound, or perform as an exotic car is something bad.
@@gsxr1189 that’s not the name. You just know one language, probably on a broken way, and that why you have to rely on your phone’s translator. But yes… I own a fully built engine, transmission , suspension, interior, and exterior second gen Coyote with a Paxton 2200 SL, and a fully built Magnuson supercharged 2019 Stingray. Lots o money put on both. That’s not the case here. The case is that the c8 is a great machine regardless your opinion and instead of you being mad at that fact, you should find other ways to make more income and be able to afford it. Also find a way to learn a second language. Porque no puedes ser un traga leche la vida entera.
@El Querendón Can't afford a C8, lol. According to Autotrader C8 Stingray's have recently lost a 20k in value & are now selling for the same prices as similar mileage & condition & as the C7 Z06 in my PFP that I payed 74k in cash for.
@El Querendón I'd be unsatisfied with higher tier American car like a Vette in the Stingray trim. The looks are bland, the factory wheels are boring & horsepower level stock is not enough. Last words yours hoss I bet you can't resist or make a point that makes sense.
Corvette should have went mid-engine in the 1980s when high HP started coming back. The laws of physics benefit the mid-engine and those laws cannot be broken. From C4 forward all Corvettes have been a great performance value
