This is the non-carbon-fiber version of the new Horizon-D and has titanium on both sides of the handle. M390 steel, custom anodized hardware and fully contoured/milled handles makes this a knife you're going to want to see.

I own all the Reate's to date and this one is the best I think. It is on the level with several similar customs I own. I can't believe how light it is. The District 9 gets the most pocket time of all my Reates tho. I love the weight and heft of it. I like heavy and beefy tactical folders for EDC unlike most people. Great review.

I think it's the best looking. I'll see in a few days when it arrives how it feels. I'm so exited about this one. It's gonna be babied. I love zt knives and was gonna get a 0456 but hated the clip, screws, and blade shape. a new ti clip would cost 45-55 bucks for it to look like it wanted to be taken serious. And I wanted to get a M390 knife so I ordered one horizon d. The clip, hardware, machining, anodizing, it's a work of art. This is a spendy addiction. so far a microtech ultratech zombietech, doc killswitch, benchmades 810, 6800, and zero tolerance 0561, 0562cf, 0801, 0900, 0452cf, and another 0561 on order because there discontinued and I love it. Next will probably be a hills, or torrent!!!!!!!!!!

great review. I just bought a NIB Horizon D and was thoroughly impressed a magnificent knife, and easily my favorite of my collection. I did notice (and was a little disappointed) that my spare parts pack only had standard screws that were not ano'ed and mine didn't have a lock bar insert replacement. They must have changed it since you did your vid. I am not concerned though if anything was to go wrong I am sure Reate would fix it.

Hey just wondering you taking work right now I'd like to send my hills model........ Thanks

Unfortunately the Hills is ugly as hell. Haha. The Horizon C is a phenomenal blade for the price and at half the price of the D, its a very good alternative for someone wanting Reate fit and finish but at a more affordable pricepoint! Also just to mention it...not everyone wants that fake looking finish on their Ti accessories and might prefer the more classy solid colorations to compliment their favorite cutter. Just my opinion but you dont see many in the knife community (either here or especially on IG) hating on the C...just sayin.

***** Haha I can see how the Hills can be ugly...especially next to the Horizon C. The Horizon C just did nothing for me. Totally subjective and I see why others like it. I just think that the only thing the C has over the Hills is looks. Everything else...Hills wins. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for your reviews. Would you still buy the CKF Sukhoi over this Horizon-D if you only had $400?? I'm looking at picking up one or the other this week.

Wow that's a tough question. You can't go wrong with either. I think the Sukhoi has a more impressive design, but I find myself carrying the Horizon-D more because I enjoy the flipper more than a thumb-stud.

Custom Edge Works Yea, I'm leaning toward the Sukhoi for its unique awesomeness - my Morrf fulfills my EDC role quite competently, so, I'm not looking to replace it for EDC.. but... I was drawn to the Horizon-D mostly (after it's general awesomeness) because of the fact that it's in M390. I'm an EdgePro user, so holding and edge isn't a huge deal, but I do like to have the best possible steel - within reason. So, I'm annoyed with all these makers issuing all these wonderful pieces in S35VN - I know, I know - it's not bad (except it doesn't seem to cut well with a polished edge - weird). But the simple fact is that this steel is used exclusively for its ease of grinding and low-heat treat temp. and not for any benefit to the user. (Chris Reeve!! I don't think that I'd like him in real life...) So, M390 - clearly superior in my experience and as you've stated. Based on my edgepro experience, the M390 seems to be almost as easy to sharpen as S35VN... so it can't be that much worse to grind... and what's the cost difference in raw material? I'd wager it's something like $10-20 per knife including increased tool wear (I'm guessing, here!) at most - nominal compared to even the cheapest of these knives. I mean, my $170 benchmade is in M390! - I think that we need to shout loudly over this - thanks for being one of the people talking about it. Cheers!

Mike Lentsch I couldn't agree more. I'm also a steel "snob". I love the M390 and too use the EdgePro (and Wicked Edge and strops), so I can handle any steel you throw at me. M390/204P are in my top 5 favorite steels for folding knives, while S35VN in not. As you stated...S35VN is good and I agree...I actually think it's GREAT! As for it's cutting capabilities with a polished edge...it reminds me of S90V. It relies on the carbides to cut. The the more polished the edge, the less performance you get. I usually keep my S30V, S35VN and S90V honed to a 600-grit finish, and they do very well. As for the Sukhoi...I feel that where it may not compare to the Horizon-D's steel, but it's a far more impressive design. Aside from the steel comparison, the Sukhoi offers amazing value with the execution of complex design and materials, as well as custom-level finish and feel.
