I'm so glad you did a disassembly on this, so i didn't have to cause i figured it would be a knife that shouldn't ever be taken apart. The crkt deadbolt lock is a pain to take apart, but this seems more complicated

I didn’t take apart the back side with the block I just tit apart enough to remove the bearings and clean it then relubed with KPL iv you do that it only takes pretty normal amount of time to disassemble and reassemble. But it’s crazy unique I have never seen a knife built like this before. Now I like the chunky and weight to it personally. I also understand that they are doing a bigger one too.

Hey, Kev! great disassembly video as always and it sure is one crazy locking mechanism. I definitely agree with you on this knife not being worth the cost and the hassle of assembling/maintaining. Like you said, this is just a glorified button lock with 20 or so screws/pins that you gotta worry about and the mechanism seems like CRKT's Deadbolt with a small twist (a locking block instead of a rod). I believe the secondary lock is there to prevent the blade from unlocking when you grip and accidentally press the pivot as it was a concern with Deadbolt. I presume Reate's trying some different things to see if they stick or not.

So it’s a not so budget budget knife that basically a hard to disassemble button lock. Got it 👍

Kev just got my pony stout, hands down best liner lock access on the market!!!!

At first I thought that tiny fork locks the blade from closing but there’s actually a block deep down in there. The ring sets tension and sandwich the bearings and the blade together. The fork prevents the ring from spinning back off. Now I don’t have to disassemble mine to figure it out. thanks 😅

Thank you for showing this Video. I have been wanting to see the inside of one of these. It definitely isn't an easy disassembly and reassembly for sure; it has a lot of parts. But, I still want one. I dunno what’s going on with your knife Kev cause they actually have a detent ball in them as well as the spring and mine had a pretty good detent out of the box I actually swapped the spring from the box cause it looked like it might be a slightly bigger spring and at least with mine it massively improved the already decent detent. Mine has a detent on the same level as a well tuned liner lock none of the mushy detent play that you get on spring based detents, nice and crispy! I do wish they found a way to make it thinner, it’s 50% thicker in the handle than like a pm2 or para 3 and has a chunky ass blade to match which is quite weird on such a small knife but the contoured scales stop it feeling excessively blocky. Over all I’ve been surprised how much I like it, was a bit worried there for a second. I’d be very interested to see how strong the lock is, I would think that steel tab that pops into the slot on the side of the blade tang would be much less likely to slip than a plunge lock but I’m no engineer 🤷

That would be an awesome edited ig photo, but a nightmare to maintain if it were a work user. Doing that weekly would drive me crazy. Very cool design, but not for me personally. I like my 3.25-3.75” blades, full titanium and clean designs.

Looks nice, but I just think a knife of that size should have MUCH thinner blade stock. It’s not a heavy-use folder. That looks like .120-.135”, where I think it would be better at around .090-.100”. Just my two cents.

Yeah wow. Lot of parts to that design. Quite the assembly process. As far as whether it's a user or a premium? It's both and neither. It's for us, the crazy people who buy things just to see what they are like.

That was painful to watch but kudos for staying the course and getting it done. Making it tough to maintain is a no starter for me. Interesting lock but not worth the potential headaches in reassembly with those bearings able to slide around.

you gotta know why you have more play then before you disassembled it. it has to do with that silver ring and that bracket that holds it in place. i dont think the safety mechanism is locking correctly....

😅I'm over here yelling at my monitor... A lot of Viper folding knives are assembled this way (with that slim nut being what actually holds the pivot tension) so I knew what I was looking at immediately. That little tab locking the pivot nut in place is clever though. Agree, wish they had gone more premium with it. The G10 doesn't do it for me on these.
