Sorry but that's bullshit sir. John Sykes only wrote everything on the '87 album except Here I go Again & Crying in the Rain. Whitesnake had a well established career before Sykes came into the picture.
@@Joeinternet Indeed, he "only" co-wrote ALL the original songs in the most successful and iconic Whitesnake album, plus turned the old tunes into big hits, and co-created that legendary sound that redefined the band forever.
@@andre.1984 LMAO while I appreciate your enthusiasm for John Sykes and he is a beast in all honesty Whitesnake had already been a great band when John joined.
I've seen Reb Beach on guitar guitar with Dokken Into The Sun tour. With Whitesnake and Winger. He's a master guitarist & able to nail the music just like the Great George Lynch. Freaking stellar.
Agreed. Reb is one of the best. He may actually be a reasonable use of the word underrated. I don't hear his name enough from other players, and he deserves it!
Two monsters going at it!!!! awesome, love to both of them awesome guitarists, like them both the same, just very different styles but they are both great together.
When you get to a certain skill level, it's not about who is best, it's which you like better. Reb is a better 'tapper', Doug might be a bit faster. It's like asking who is better, Michelangelo or Da Vinci? They are both masters at their craft.
Reb has nothing to prove... he’s been a lead man with Winger... writes and plays amazing stuff with Kip Winger (heh, their drummer is better than Reb & Doug). Reb is letting Doug have the limelight and obviously doesn’t care...
Tom R. Excatly. I looooove them both but for different reasons.I particularly love the signature sound and the solos of Aldrich. I love the 'rawness' and virtuosity of Beach.
Jeff Horton and after you hear Reb's endless tappings it gets obvious that's mostly what he can do...speaking about another level, the man John Sykes;)
OMG!! How have I missed this gem? Now that's how you become a legend 🎸 2 masters 1 Stage @RealRebBeach can make that whammy speak 🎸🎶 @DouglasAldrich plays his Gibson like nobody's business 🎸🎶💜 this will be on repeat 🤘🏻🎧
Wow, it is great to see these two fantastic guitarists together. They compliment one another working as a team. They don't have anything to prove, or anything to compete over, so they push each other to creativity, the music being the only goal. A lot of young bands could learn from them, not just licks, but about working as a team.
Sykes is still the master of this track. No question. Shredding gets its terminology from artists like Sykes. I do marvel Reb, though. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3A-R4qbSzYk.html
@@charleskp947 He wasn't afraid of him, he wanted payback for Sykes trying to go around him when he couldn't sing....Sykes tried to have it published to disc and Dave became a woman scorned
I love both Reb and Doug as players and they certainly both have their strengths, which are many. The main thing that always stands out for me when watching Doug play though, is how he can wear the guitar as low as he does, and shred the way he does on a thick bodied/necked guitar like a Les Paul (not sure what neck profile he uses). He's one of a few who can along with John Sykes, Zakk Wylde and Gary Moore... With that huge tone, it sounds epic...
2 of my favorites. Yeah we know Sykes is God! If he was he would be out playing like these two on the road using they're talent instead of layed up in a fckn cave somewhere on fckn drugs or whatever doing nothing. Love Sykes and was my favorite at one time but come on man.
I give you a thumbs up because I agree, but I have no room to talk. I play for days on end, matter of fact haven't been asleep since yesterday morning. Been up learning stuff all night. I've been getting the solo to "Still Of The Night " up to speed and on time. I don't know why, I haven't played a gig, or even done a video in years.
+Beth Bear What you lack is his drive, determination and discipline to wake up with a guitar in your hand, eat with a guitar in your hand, screw with a guitar in your hand, sleep with a guitar in your hand and do it all over again until you reach that level. Simple but who wants to do the hard work? It's easier to look for excuses.
erik dennard Common sense and LOGIC. If she did all those things she'd be seeing results and she would understand that if she kept it up, she would be able to play "close to this" if not better.
some people may think they're trying to OUT DO each other , not the case at all !! There is a definite , complimenting , Duo mentality here , definite respect for one another , both know each is schooled, each has their influences , although both have the same , each has a style , which is limited by L P vs STRAT . This picture looks more like Jeff Watson and Brad Gillis , Murray and Smith , very nice chemstry here and neither feels threatened by the next its obvious !! Two seriously underratted , overlooked guys !! Read lots of Doug's stuff in Guitar magazine , think was also doing stuff for Guitar World mag also but was mainly with Guitar Magazine ! Heard Reb when seeing the Seventeen video of Winger and was Blown away , how tasteful he was , yet flashy and knew this guy was no lightweight !!! Ofcourse Reb has the fame with Winger, a session guy for Chacka Khan and others , no one ever knew or gave a shit surely but when Winger came around , he surely stamped his mark on the scene. Doug , is he lessons guy , surely known to all but nothing recorded really and always wondered when he would do something. When Sykes left Whitesnake , always thought he would be a replacement but oddly Vai came in which was as rather odd twist but Doug always seemed like the man for the job !!!!
Reb Beach is not only a good guitar player but also very smart..he knows to modestly shine because when you shine too much Coverdale will swap you for an other guitarist. Thats why Sykes had to go...his raw talent and sparkling presence did cost him his job with whitesnake. Aldrich doesn't have to worry about anything..hes just enjoying the ride for as long as it takes with WS.
Two of my Favorite Guitar Players-Reb Beach did a Guitar Clinic here in Ft Myers Fl in the Late 80*s-at Brent*s Music Head Quarters-He was really down to Earth and had over 50% of the attendee*s-Hot Females-I ask him to play his lead part on SEVENTEEN-Smokin*Hot!!
Amazing video! Doug is so good...he excels at his own signature blues-metal riffing... But we're talkin' about Reb Beach here...those phenomenal riffs and solos in Winger are pure pedigree...Reb was THE fastest gun in the West back when...(okay, Satch and Vai, but they were solo )...and he walked the walk...Reb is the cute kid with the bolero hat, the fringe jacket, and the lightning fingers, taking no prisoners night after night. Very cool cat whose playing is always shimmering with bravado and unexpected thrills. I'd watch Doug anytime - he was killer in Dio - but Reb is a flat-out guitar GOD.
lol...I've been the one of the biggest Reb Beach fans before all the recent bandwagoners. With that said, Doug Aldrich is a beast, what he did in the Never Surrender Song and Transformers Theme as part of Lion is as good as Reb Beach. Fastest Gun back in the West? I think you are in love with Reb and rose tinted glasses, do you forget Jake E Lee or Warren DeMartini or Chris DeGarmo or George Lynch? sheeesh...
Both are great and in fact they were great combo in Whitesnake ,since they are so different from one another there was no competition better yet there was chemistry between them
What are these two doing? Reb looks just exactly like a childhood friend of mine, and band mate, Howie. Howie is probably one of the greatest guitar players I've ever heard and had the privilege to play music with. Howie is a Randy head, that explains why he's such a great guitar player. Back in the day we would work for days learning music and solos with an old cassette player...rewind and play. Now if I want to learn a tune, I simply try to find a tutorial. Yeah I know, but I've done my share of "ear training ". Actually it would amaze you to see how much Howie and Reb not only look like, but act like as well.
Holly crap Doug ripps. I wish him and the awesome Richie Falkner would collaborate on a metal concept album. Im 50 now and met Reb when Winger was opening for Ozzy once. I was 17 and he stopped to talk with me and two friends for quite a bit. Super humble person. Much respect! I like him with Cloverdale.
well, I think Doug and John have a very similar style and both of them have written amazing songs in Whitesnake, but technically speaking, Doug is the man IMO.
@@tonypowell250 John was wise enough to secure the credits to that album and while DAVE TOURED THE WORLD WITH HIS MTV friendly lineup;John was collecting the royalties he so rightly deserved. REMEMBER these guys can play the stuff;but it was John that came up with those riffs;co-writing 9 out of 11 songs.
Douglas Morato well...not. John is better picker if you are talking about technique. John can alternate pick pretty clean and fast. Doug doesn't alternate pick almost at all, just fast legato hammer on's pull off's and it gets a little mushy sometimes. And melodic wise John is another level...Doug is a fine player on his own though.
My 2 cents: Doug Aldrich had far superior tone here, usually does compared to Reb, but Reb Beach was more musical and therefore more impressive to me (: This is such a cool video with the two of them
@@rebbeach6549 really is you? Well, great guitar solos relax me. I love it. Doug and you are awesome.🤘🎸 the last time that I saw Whitesnake was in 2019 in Rockfest at Sao Paulo. Perfect night! Come back soon in Brazil. 🙌✨💕🇧🇷
Not much out doing here between these guys , then again they are both SESSION GUYS , so they are of a different breed altogether , yet for this type they are so suprisingly Gun slingers !
Reb is one of the most underrated guitarists of the 80s but anyone who just calls Aldrich good is fooling themselves , he is a very " SCHOOLED GUITARIST " he is every bit as schooled as Reb is , just a different take , Aldrich is a L P guy , which leaves him with trem to work with , Reb is into that but he is so very much " not a shmuck " with a bar , Brad Gillis is a influence on Reb and it is obvious , Brad was always oh so tasteful .
GuinnessandPizza yep coverdale is a kick ass solo guitarist for sure...actually he played still of the night, bad boys, crying in the rain etc solos for 1987 album...not!😂
jou812 Reb is humble... his work with Winger is already established... and actually their newer non-commercial stuff is heavier... it just seems like a matter of taste what styles we prefer.
JOHN S. CO WROTE THE MUSIC VANDENBERG, REPLACED SYKES BECAUSE OF THIN LIZZY, VANDENBERG BROKE HIS HAND AND VAI TOOK HIS SPOT NEXT TO VIVIAN C. WHO WAS SYKES 2 GUITAR, WHITCH BECAME VIVIAN AND VAI. THAT DONT MEAN, REB BEECH,AND DOUG ALDRICH, ALONG WITH BRO TOMMY AINT BAD ASS
only thing I kinda don't like about Beach is his active pickups. other than that, he's one hell of a guitarist (and probably second to none in the metal genre)
