At 46 years of age , I still cry when I hear this song. After everything you've been through with all the characters. The losses, the sacrifice. Everything leading up to this moment. And when Rick rescues Lisa....holy shit. I can't describe the feeling. GREAT FUCKING EPISODE !!!!!
This manga really shaped my morality. Sacrifice, hard work, and the horrors of war. And how love -in all shapes, humans and aliens will conquer all because we are more alike than we imagine.
Out of nostalgia I just searched for this track… and well here I am, transported right back to the time I had Goosebumps and tears in my eyes, hoping humanity will survive this battle, cheering on Rick and being sad in letting Minmay go. Happy that he rescued Lisa, and happy and awe to see the battle damaged SDF 1 descend from the clouds in all its glory as the sun rises. Beautiful. Tears 😊
@@XG2 i'm sorry but have you seen any mecha anime lol, its a pretty common trope in the genre :P can agree that the first 2 seasons of robotech were brilliant, the quality was very hit and miss after the sdf 3 took off
you are making a grave mistake. Carl Macek does nothing creative. This American just translated the work of the Japanese. You should look at the creative work of the Japanese, not the businessmen who imported the work. The same argument applies to Power Rangers and Transformers. All created by Japanese.
@@takaakiyamada5451sorry but not sorry. The work of the Japanese who created the anime is recognized, but in the West they had to sell a long series, which, as in Japan, needs to generate income from advertising, Robotech alone and the The other 2 stories that had nothing to do with each other did not offer anything attractive for a television station to pick up, Macek did the sales work, if he changed the story and invented that it was a story that continued after Robotech, only in this way could we learn about the history in the West itself that could have been forgotten and we would not be talking about it. Macek's sin and success was that. And the other great success was the song "we will win!" She gave more push to the final battle and it remained more engraved in the collective imagination of those of us who saw it in the West than hearing it over and over again "my boyfriend is a pilot"
I had this song playing on my iPod waiting for my turn to do my thesis defense.... I was so freaking nervous while I was waiting but as soon as this song played I I started to come down and at the end of the song my advisor stepped out and motioned me into the room. In a matter of three minutes I went from scared shitless to let's do this dolza you're going down!
What an awesome story! Thank you for sharing highlander! I am glad it helped you and hope your thesis defense was a great success!. As a very introverted person I can only imagine what that must be like. Just having to do presentations as an Undergrad was enough for me.
I freaking love this song lol especially where it starts in "as the battle goes on we grow stronger, how much longer can this go on" damn line gets me every time!
chris sanders Mine also lol though there's a bit of bitterness to that memory because they never freaking aired much more than two episodes after this fight lol I never knew what the hell happened after until much much later in life
I love this song, I remember how inspiring it was to watch the RDF & Zentradi face their Ultimate battle as allies. I still get goosebumps watching this scene w/this song.
Absolutely the same for me. Robotech and Star Blazers were my childhood, but this scene from Robotech still gives me goosebumps. I remember being awed by that moment of Rick unleashing everything he has, and moved by seeing friend and foe fighting along side. The sight of that soldier and kid on earth dying has been burned into my brain since childhood (so glad they didn't cut that). To this day, despite advances in animation and live-action effects, I find this one of the most epic battle scenes in anything, partly due to nostalgia I'm sure, but also because of the story and character work for the series it served as the culmination to.
Yeah, seriously. This whole little montage is so damn good. I also get goosebumps. I think a lot of it had to do with the timing. It basically happens during a very climactic point in the series, where everyone's giving all they've got and it's not just like minor skirmishes in various locations. However, it's not technically the 'Last Battle' of the series as this video title implies, but I won't spoil that since it helps to segue into the following season that takes place many years later. This moment is also purposely made to be sort of shocking when Minmei and Kyle kiss, not only because they are cousins, but also since the Zentradi haven't seen any direct displays of affection and it startles a society that has never known anything but war. The battle also technically causes some of the most heavy casualties to Zentradi forces as well, as it's one of the few fights that directly impacts their mothership and battle cruisers. And all that aside, pretty excellent localization too and it's very memorable. It's really brilliant writing for a series, and Robotech has only gotten better as I've gotten older and can fully appreciate all the thoughtful dialogue and complex situations that the series dives into, like several deaths and how deeply they impact people, a love triangle, the consequences of deep and bitter jealousy, enemies getting to know and love each other, and so much more.
Life is only what we choose to make it, Let's just take it, Let us be free. We can find the glory we all dream of And with our love, We can win. Still, We must fight or face defeat - We must stand tall and not retreat. With our strength we'll find the might, There's no fight we can't fight Together Oh together We can win. Blessed With strong hearts that beat as one, Watch us soar, And with love that conquers all We'll win this battle, This last battle, We will win We must win We will win We can win We can win As the battle goes on we feel stronger, How much longer Must this go on? Each and every day we dream of winning And beginning A new life. Still, We must fight or face defeat - We must stand tall and not retreat. With our strength we'll find the might, There's no fight we can't fight Together Oh together We can win. Blessed With strong hearts that beat as one, Watch us soar, And with love that conquers all We'll win this battle, This last battle, We will win We must win We will win We can win We can win Now that we have reached this last encounter Where are we now? What shall be now? How could we have come so far to give up? We won't give up We can win. Still, We must fight or face defeat - We must stand tall and not retreat. With our strength we'll find the might, There's no fight we can't fight Together Oh together We can win. Blessed With strong hearts that beat as one, Watch us soar, And with love that conquers all We'll win this battle, This last battle, We will win We must win We will win We must win We will win We can win.
I was in 6th grade and my mom taped every episode for me. I was also lucky enough to have 2 Japanese nationals as friends who taught me enough to watch all of the Macross afterwards.
Okay, I've *just* finished watching the *original* Japanese Macross series *and* Do You Remember Love?, and I can tell you that in the TV version Minmay not only *did* perform "My Boyfriend is a Pilot", but her entire pantheon of songs for the final battle - it was a full-on concert. Here in the Robotech timeline/universe she performs this song, "We Will Win" and this song alone. (I hired out the VHS of this series of episodes *a lot* as a kid ... and as a teenager). Also, I particularly like what the guitar does at 2:11 ~ 2:13 (It's unfortunate that the video seems to skip immediately after)
It was such a long series & I managed to watch it till the end & record it as well in those days. It took 9 cassettes. Those were cute days. I waited to know who will be the hero's true love in the end.
❤Hoy tengo 41 años y sigue Siendo mi Dibujo Preferido..❤🇦🇷❤️🔥
Fuera de mame cada vez que me siento mal, o que algo en mi vida está mal, escucho esta canción y look up the Sky is falling y me siento vivo, con ganas de vivir.
This still gives me chills to this day. One of the best sci-fi battles of all times, IMO (anime or live action), because the stakes were so well established. Rick hitting the brakes and getting rocked back in his seat is my favourite moment for some reason, but that's followed closely by the more understandable Dolza's final expression. :)
well I would hit other songs too, like thunderstruck, and long road to the top, also Im proud to be an american by lee greenwood, america by neal dimond though the song is about immagration, it is also a testament to why those come here for a new dream, a legal chance at the pie , a testament to what allows us and enables us to be a great nation if we so choose to try to take the mantel, and take the challenge, dry our oppressed eyes wipe the sweat off, and roll up our sleeves and draw our sword, bow, or hand on throttle or tool in hand whatever you are going to use, and stare down the mountain in front of us, or the 1000's of troops, or the fat paunchy old bully that looks down on you, doubts you, thinks you cant do it since you are not pureblood, rich, or have as much education, and go at them screamming at a full run, and take the challenge to the woodshed and give it the biggest lesson of its life as you give it the worst beating of its life, or jump into the ring and go to to toe with the impossable and problably play some other songs that I have strong emotions to, like dies ire, or the day of wrath in latin, breakout by swing out sister, celebation by kool and the gang, thriller, sara by starship, sail away by styx, and some racing music, by the beachboys and jan and dean, oh and ride like the wind, think we're gonna make it by christopher cross, and born to run, born in the usa , and dancing in the dark by the bruce sprinstine, and some born to be wild by steppenwolf, and problably one more time and better stronger faster by daft punk for good mesure, something to get my passion going like a blast furnace and then get myself chomping at the bit with a little happy music, and maybe even thriller as its about struggling against the zombies and gouls, as well as the starwars march at the beginning.
one of the most epic scene in the history of animation. It is not the Japanese pictures that create this legendary story but Harmony Gold's genius adaptation that makes it.
Life is only what we choose to make it. Let's just take it, Let us be free. We can find the glory we all dream of. And with our love, we can win. As the battle goes on we feel stronger. How much longer Must this go on? Each and every day we dream of winning and beginning a new life. (Refrain) Still, we must fight or face defeat. We must stand tall and not retreat. With our strength we'll find the might. There's no fight we can't fight together, All together, We can win. Blessed with strong hearts that beat as one, Watch us soar. And with love that conquers all We'll win this battle, this last battle. We will win... We must win... We will win... We can win... We can win...
Because of the war and devastation that happened in the story, it's understandable why she doesn't have a pitch-perfect voice, but when that sequence comes up in the show, I can't help but get a lump in my throat. ❤
The soundtrack is really what gives the Robotech dub of Macross a different feel. Almost to the point, that if you watch them back to back, it feels like two different shows.
I think I was 10 years old when I saw Robotech for the first time, I didn't understand the plot much but I did like the music of the animated series, I especially liked this theme a lot, and even though 30 years have passed I still like it... .
I love Max and Maria, those two together is like a transformer triple changer! Lol! I would loVe to have a women like that someday, now let's get back to this song already in progress, lol!
