Thanks Rebacka for sharing .. I’m gleaning all information . I’m on my way I’m excited . The turning point is finding out that ppl get well !!! I’ve been listening to William Li about what foods do for us that lead me to find Videos on Hiw ur mind effects ur body & u get thinking ‘ if ur mind can maje u I’ll then the mind can heal us & now there’s evidence the experts say that your thoughts change our physiology!!!! … It’s so important what we think . The point about compassion for ourselves is very important too .. related to Rebecca too Thanks Reelan !!!

Astonishing! Rebecca is describing how I got well. She was ill for many of the reasons I was ill (trauma, stress) and got better in the same way (eg understand MindBody connection, Dr Sarno, journalling to release emotions and trauma). My recovery, after getting ill in 2000, was pretty well spontaneous in December 2021. I needed to go through the process of understanding the illness, why I was ill, nutrition, psychology, meditation, stress and how our nervous system works and finally Dr Sarno, TMS and MindBody connection. I know that I have only been well for 6 weeks now, so I will get back to you after a year to let you know if it was a full recovery. But Rebecca - you have totally nailed so many aspects of what I feel & believe! You are describing how happy you were in the Zoomba class as I write this and I utterly get that - I wake up, realise I feel fine and I am ECSTATIC. It is AWESOME to feel OK! Raelan and Rebecca got there. I got there, and if you are reading this and have ME/CFS or Long Covid, YOU CAN GET THERE TOO!

Katharine, I am so happy for you!! You've already experienced deep healing to get where you are. Even if there are ups and downs, you will move through them! You've got this! It seems like we often go through steps and stages before embracing Sarno and the mind-body connection. (And we all have a different path, of course) But yah, here we are! Enjoy each moment Katharine. I look forward to watching your recovery story one day soon! 😍

@@rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach Thank you Rebecca. Yes, there are definitely phases. It was one of the things that helped me get through all the years of sickness, seeing the phases. One thing would help a bit, then I might plateau, then something might make me crash. It was like a game of "snakes & ladders". But every crash contained a lesson for me to learn and when I "plateaued" or felt "stuck", I would seek something new to try (and it was interesting how often the Universe presented just the right thing). Even when I was bedbound and could do nothing, I embraced "nothing" and learned to meditate.

These interviews are sooooo wonderful. I am into my 9th year of CFS. I am a whole lot better than I was 5 years ago. I have found the Gupta programme hugely helpful. Along with mindfulness practices. But have been a bit stuck these last 2 years. Stopped listening to recovery stories. They were too attached to specific programmes. But your interviews are just wonderful. They are nurturing my deep belief that improvement and recovery are possible. Your interviews help me to honour that belief. I have recently started to use the curable app and finding somatic relaxations helpful. I have just received your book through the post. My next step is to explore Rebecca's web site. Huge big thanks to you Raelan for providing these fabulous interviews. My hope is pulsing more strongly once more. Warm hugs and blessings to you and your work. You are a light in the universe. Xxxx

Raelan I am so grateful I found your channel!!! It's been a couple weeks I've been watching about a video a day and I am so freakin excited. I've been suffering from ME/CFS for most my life. Now I fully understand that my childhood CPTSD, alcoholism and pushing myself past my limits for so long, with mold and tick infections...yes! I'm a 42 yr old massage therapist! Yea, I battle getting through 2 or 3 sessions a day, and that's because of fear of not working. Since everything and doctors I've tried over the years haven't helped, I continue to push through abusing myself. Because I thought if I can't heal then I have to have a life.. I can relate to almost everything you all are saying and now have a tangible hope to Fully recover! Praise Jesus!! I have suffered severe depression also due to this illness and to hear about your mom and your divorce really hit me. Now to know so many have recovered is just so awesome!!! I want to be on your channel one day telling my full recovery story!!! This life is hell!! God bless you!!!

Fantastic interview, thank you! I have watched Rebecca before and kind of dabbled in the TMS world and I do feel brief relief of symptoms just by listening sometimes! My background is also trauma and stress so am going to look into this more. Was having a bad day, heavy fatigue, feeling stuck and hopeless, overwhelmed with all the things i have read and watched. Yesterday I asked the universe to help me then this appeared and i found it really lifted my spirits! Thanks so much both of you! ❤️❤️ Just a ps-when I started watching thus video my legs were feeling so heavy and fatigued but after watching this it lifted completely and they were fine the rest of the day!!

I know it's a lot to face and I'm so glad you are recovering, Amy. I'm a consultant on a mind-body study with long-Covid patients. It's affiliated with Harvard Medical Center and I can't speak highly enough about it. If you live in the States and have a positive Covid antibody test, you may qualify. They're enrolling the last group in January so if that speaks to you, may want to check right away! I can't paste links here but you can find my long-Covid blog through my website in the video description. The long Covid clinical study link is in that blog. (Btw, reading the books disqualifies you from the study since they're given out in the study. But if you don't qualify I definitely recommending those books!) Sending healing wishes to you!

Maybe you already know this, but Consumer Reports studied arsenic in rice and based on their findings, they recommend that adults eat only two servings of rice per week. This is a piece of nutrition information that I was shocked to find in my own nutrition journey, since I never hear people talking about it and it seems like a pretty big deal! So if you'd been living in a country where rice was served at every meal, you could've had high arsenic levels for a while and your body could've been trying to protect you by making you reactive to it until those levels went down. Not saying there wasn't also a food aversion that developed, but it could've developed for a reason.

Thanks Rebecca and Raelan for this wonderful inteview full of healing nuggets. It reinsures me that I'm on the right track, even if there are still some aspects which want to be learnt along the way to recovery. The experience that I can make tremendous progress through my own healing work shows me that I can get fully recovered...sooner or later🙂 I feel the part of tuning into your body and realigning with your true self is one of the key aspects, especially for those (like me) who pushed themselves way to hard for many years. It is a learned behaviour to have a split between the egoic mind and the body...and luckily it can be unlearned again by creating a harmonious flow in the body-mind-system. Rebecca's thoughts on what behaviours could perpetuate the trauma/stress in which one understandably feels not in control of your body - and so sending more unconscious danger feedback to the brain - resonates deeply with me. I will implement this in the way I'm pacing myself. Less analyzing and mind-work, more feeling, intuition and self-trust. And look how Rebecca shines! 🌞 She really embodies and radiates what she had learned and is talking about. Beautiful. 🙏❤️

Has anyone heard of success stories regarding the neuropathy that accompanies some cases of CFS/ME or FM? That is my biggest challenge and I don't find many healing stories.
@saradarv1161
@saradarv1161 3 месяца назад
Apologies ahead of time for the lengthy response- I experience peripheral neuropathy in my hands and feet during flare ups, and it often comes down to either an iron deficiency, b12 deficiency, or both. Being deficient in either one or both also causes racing thoughts/anxiety/depression, which makes you feel like the neuropathy is being cause by some catastrophic disease. Let me suggest to you that it’s not. You don’t have MS or anything catastrophic. This specific mineral / vitamin deficiency is common because a lot of us who suffer from chronic illness are facing malabsorption issues. But iron/B12 deficiency can cause you to feel exhausted, lethargic, restless, moody, and it’ll disturb your sleep. And unfortunately, disturbed sleep exacerbates all symptoms, including numbness, tingling, and nerve pain. Please make sure you get a comprehensive blood panel from your medical and naturopathic doctor asap, and they can help you figure out if the source of the numbness and tingling is one of these two. I would recommend supplementing with a quality B-Complex either way because sooo many people are deficient, but I strongly, strongly recommend you get your iron levels checked before taking an iron supplement. Everyone is different, but women’s iron needs are different because of our monthly cycle. There’s also a difference between serum iron and ferritin (your iron stores), that your conventional MD will not think to investigate. MDs absolutely have their place and I really like my family doctor, but if you’re suffering from chronic illness, a naturopath will help you figure out where your iron levels should be at.

So interesting. Clearly, stress is a major factor in this condition. After a catalogue of stresses in a relatively short time,including my dad's death, losing my 3 kitties, moving 4 times in 3 years, losing a job and having to find another, a car crash and the ending of a relationship, I ended up in awful pain and got a diagnosis of fibromyalgia. I assume that was the correct diagnosis but if pain is a factor in CFS then I'm not sure...And prior to all those events, I was doing all things physical to try help myself-many supplements and tried numerous diets. The issue was long term stress. We are not meant to suffer chronic stress. The stress hormones are there to help us deal with stress which lasts a short time (such as running from a tiger, not that I've had to do that recently 😆🤦‍♀). Thank you Rebecca for sharing and so sorry you've had to suffer those assaults 😪

@rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach 2 года назад
I'm so sorry for your losses. My heart goes out to you for all you endured in a short time. From a mind-body standpoint, both fibromyalgia and CFS are caused by the way the brain/nervous system are processing stress. It sounds like you are on the right track. As you find the right support to process the stress and come down from the stress response, you will recover! 💗

@@phoebeclarke3427 I totally understand Phoebe and am sorry for your suffering. One of the main how's for me was a meditation called somatic tracking. There's a link to one of my free meditations in Raelan's video description. Also, I learned about mind-body healing through Howard Schubiner's book "Unlearn Your Pain." It applies to CFS too and I highly recommend that for you. Sending you hugs. 💖

If doctors ask people if there was anything, people say "no". I know of people in my family who have chronic illness beginning and I will say, "Was anything wrong before...What was happening?" They will say, "I was fine, everything was great!" I know what was happening, I can see the things in their lives but they say, "no".

Love this interivew, thank you so much for sharing! And I love this line... "Nothing's going to work unless I intuitively feel right about it" The power of intuition is huge, and I wish I had realized that earlier in my healing journey. I think so many of us have that little voice within us that knows what the next step is, but we silence it.

I'm so glad you highlighted the power of intuition Ioana. It's our compass to guide our healing journey so we don't try all the things that someone else tried but what resonates inside us. I also wish I'd discovered that sooner but at least we have now!🥰

Raelan, thank you so much for all your amazing work. Truly the CFS community is so grateful. I was wondering if you could do a video on plant based nutrition and share with us what you eat for protein sources or what breakfast looks like. Just to give us some ideas. I am mostly whole food plant based with pasture raised sources of protein. I am still having a little fruit because it’s hard to have nothing but I’m working on that. Having someone run through some quick meal ideas would be useful. A lot of plant protein like soy I can’t go near due to MCAS. Also do you take nutritional yeast or a B12 supplement? Thank you in advance x

Hi Raelan and Rebecca... Will be grateful for your reply, whenever you get time. Question is for both of you: Did you continue any prescription meds to calm down any symptoms during your recovery phase or before that? ( @Raelan In your case, your 2 years recovery phase). I don't need medicine names, just interested to know if you took any or left them. Or please let me know if you remember you mentioned about this in any video of yours. I know I'll have to figure out myself what is working for me and what's not. But still want to know your case. I'm not sure how much are these helping, the doctor who suggested these, didn't give me any diagnosis. I don't want to continue living on these, I take meds like Clonazepam (works for panic disorder, anxiety etc.) and Escitalopram (for depressive disorder, anxiety disorders). ( I feel guilt when I write something lengthy for someone to read and more guilt if the person has to reply in length to that. Sorry for the long text. 🤦😬 )

Oh gosh, I understand your dilemma. I do believe it's essential to discuss with your physician and make the best decision for yourself. Just from personal experience (and keep in mind I'm not a physician and can't give any medical advice), I weaned off a medication slowly during my recovery phase but only when I felt stronger and more resilient. By that time, I also had other tools to support me. It's a complex situation. You might consider consulting a mind-body physician to guide you. Best of luck!

Listening to this makes me think about Dan's comment...its not what you do it's how you do it. I have curable app and have done somantic tracking and every time It increases my pain and fatigue. Focusing intently on it its horrible. But it's maybe not what I'm doing but how I'm doing it? I hate somantic tracking. Is it a case of its just not a technique I should do or am I doing it wrong. Help lol
@evelinel.9827
@evelinel.9827 2 года назад
The most important thing while doing somatic tracking is what we are thinking and believing while doing it (that the sensations are safe and are ok) and the intent. The intent is important because if we are doing the process to bring down our symptoms/fix ourselves this tells the unconscious here is something wrong with us and is acting out of fear so not sending the right message to the brain. The intent of somatic tracking needs to learning to be ok feeling all the sensations with curiosity and how they often are moving around. Learning to be ok with the symptoms and still go on with activities is the key thing to recovery-- learning to think and believing you are ok even with the symptoms and expanding what we do-when we make the feelings and sensations wrong or bad and trying to fix them that keeps the sensations going. It is not easy but doable if done in a self compassionate way! After you continue to show the brain you are ok enough and the brain feels safe the symptoms eventually go away!
@FreshAgenda
@FreshAgenda 2 года назад
Hi David... yes, it's the approach. Same goes for meditation. Somatic tracking was very hard for me to get my head around for a long time. I kept fearing and fighting the symptoms (which only makes them stronger)... The idea is these symptoms haven't killed you yet, some you may have had for years, but you are letting what comes come and be ok with it. No matter what it is... for me it's shortness of breath and muscle tension usually. Just feel them from an indifferent place. Allow it to do what it's going to do... if you get revved up, then gently stop and try to do something else for awhile. There not a timer on this. Even if it's just 30 seconds here and there it is a start. This is about feeling these symptoms without freaking out... over time this will get easier. Trust me... I felt the same as you. It's like saying to your body 'we are fine'... an overly sensitized nervous system takes time to calm down. Just do it at the pace that suits you.
@rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach
@rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach 2 года назад
Hi David, I'm so glad you asked this. Eveline and FreshAgenda have great tips! Please know that somatic tracking isn't always the right tool. Some people don't feel safe in their body and we want to honor that wisdom. If the symptoms are too high (usually above a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10) you may want to do something more soothing. If somatic tracking spikes your symptoms or fear/anxiety, let it go. Our number goal with mind-body healing is safety! What makes you feel safe? Sometimes that's deep breathing, or sitting outside in the sun, or drinking a cup of tea or listening to music. Mostly you want to bring in the spirit of somatic tracking, reminding your brain that your body is okay and the sensations (while uncomfortable) are also safe. Trying to fight or fix them is counterproductive as it revs up the nervous system. Instead, turn your mind to something more pleasing or engaging. (And, some people prefer to express their emotions through journaling.) Does that help?

@@FreshAgenda That's amazing that you're learning to be with symptoms with acceptance and mindfulness! That sub-communicates to the brain that we're safe, which means eventually it will turn down the symptoms. (The key word being eventually!) There's a lot of wisdom in your words.

First of all thank you so much for the videos it helps so much through really dark periods. The question I am still asking myself is, when you get better after calming down your nervous system, what happens when you get sick and there is a ''real'' danger? Do the symptoms come back while fighting a virus or does the body learn to differentiate? It is a scary thought. For example has either one of you had covid if you don't mind my asking? If yes have you experienced ME/CFS symptoms or did your body simply fight off the virus and went back to normal after that?
@rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach
@rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach 2 года назад
Good question! Knock on wood, I have not had Covid but when/if I get a virus, it can flare up my symptoms a bit due to learned neural pathways in the brain. I practice the same techniques I used to recover and it generally passes quickly. For many of us, flare-ups can happen but they don't become chronic again. The mind-body knowledge and techniques are very empowering! I hope that helps! 💗

Has anyone ever had religion be a part of their recovery? I hear so much about “spiritually” like doing yoga and meditation but I’ve never seen a recovery sorry where someone became committed to their Roman Catholic faith or Orthodox Judaism. Why do you think that is, Raelan? 👍
@evelinel.9827
@evelinel.9827 2 года назад
It is my personal opinion that yoga and spirituality focus more on being present, being present in the body, mindfulness etc. , self compassion and that is what helps calm down the nervous system. Most catholic churches and Jewish temples don't necessarily focus or promote these things, at least during my years growing up going to church or my years going to temple with my husband. This being said there is a branch of Christianity called Contemplative Christianity/Christian Mysticism and there is a branch of Jewish mysticism called Kabbalah that does focus on being present, getting out of the stories of the mind, meditation, self realization, etc. (A branch of Hinduism called Avaita Vidanta (nonduality) is very similar).
