I think the FC Rebel is a fantastic shoe! For years I ran in the NB RC1400 and this shoe served as my daily trainor, my tempo shoe and yes, marathons as well. When that shoe was discontinued, I went to other brands for my shoes. When I discovered the FC Rebel, it restored my loyalty to NB. But unlike the old days in whiich I looked at all aspects of a shoe before deciding what to run in, these days I look FIRST to the midsole material (although, of course I still consideer the upper construction and design, weight, overall ride, etc...). For me the best midsole material in terms of my top 3 are 1. FuelCell (New Balance) 2. Hyper Burst (Sketchers) 3. ZoomX (Nike). All three materials are outstanding, but it just so happens that Fuel Cell is a hair above the rest for me. So I find it interesting how my personal shoe decisions are based first and foremost on the mid-sole material. Like you said regarding the FC Rebel, V2 of the rebel could pass for a tempo shoe and adding just a bit more FuelCell material helps get it closer to the trainor classification. My only complaint about NB FuelCell rebel and especially the FuelCell SuperComp Pacer is as you pointed out, the rubber outsole is inlaid into the FuelCell midsole. When the FuelCell material hits the pavement directly, it wears very fast. In fact this is the biggest problem with the Pacer is that people are reporting that they are hardly getting 100 miles and the reason is, because the outsole rubber is inlaid therefore nothing is preventing the FuelCell material from hitting the pavement for each foot strike as well. I have v2 of the FC Rebel, the FC SuperCOmp Trainor and the FC Pacer (well, had the pacer but will not buy another pair until NB corrects the design). I have my FC Rebel V3 on order. That is my biggest concern about getting the shoe, is how far is the outsole rubber inlaid into the Fuel Cell midsole? There have been a couple of places in which the rubber actually looked like it sunk even further into the midsole making the midsole the first material to strike the ground. So, while I love the material, performance, ride and design of the FC series, I hope that this issue has been recognized by NB as it would be a real bummer as I could not afford buying another pair after only running 100, 150 even 200 miles.

I had the V1 and loved it, then the V2, loved it even more, even though it tore on the lateral medial side of both shoes. I used both of them as daily trainers, but also for faster runs. I found them to be very comfortable, bouncy and soft at the same time. I'll definitely buy the V3 and I'll hopefully get a more solid upper and a bit more stability from its wider base. I had the same issue. I rotated the V2's with a pair of saucony speed II's and the saucony are still legit after 500 miles while the V2's went to crap after like 200 miles.

If I was to chose between the Rebel v1 & v2... I'd stick with v1. I guess 🤔😅 V2 is so wobbly I have to remind my legs 🦵 the direction of movement! They become tamed only at speed. ...and here I've found I prefer less foam for track workouts -> Rebel v1 I guess for a similar reason I didn't quite like the Novablast 1. Now, with both + Endorphin Speed showing up in the 3rd iteration... I need help. I need to hear your thoughts in a comparison video 😉

@@kofuzi good point (my nickname should be "konfuzing" 😆) So here is my point: *Rebel can go long *Novablast can go fast *E. Speed becomes more daily I see it now - these 3 "new kids on the block", all no.3 of their kind, start to compete in the same category: Daily trainer & Sunday racer! So that's my idea for the next video ...or a live chat 🙂

V2 didn't have enough midsole for a heavy runner. Do you think there is enough change to the midsole to stop the shoe from bottoming out for a big guy? 🎃
@kofuzi
@kofuzi Год назад
I didn't think the v2 had enough midsole for me either. if you're concerned about bottoming out, I might still look at this shoe, but I might also look at the SC Trainer if you want to try fuelcell shoes

I’m new to running and going through the paces of a marathon training plan. I currently use the New Balance 1080 v12 for easy/tempo/ and long runs. How would the Rebel or Novablast compare as a daily/do all shoe? Love the videos and content. Also from the Chicago suburbs💪
@kofuzi
@kofuzi Год назад
I would use continue to use the 1080, but save that for recovery days and some long runs. the Rebel could slot in for everything from easy to tempo, with use on some long runs as well.

The Rebel v1 and v2 both ran slightly short. Does the v3 also run short or is based on the same last? I normally wear a 10Wide (or 10.5D for width), but in both previous versions I’ve had to go with 10.5Wide for length.

@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183
I only had the Rebel 2 but when it was brought out to me at the running store I was told it ran short, and indeed, I had to size up. They told me the majority of customers had to go up .5 size. Oddly, I just had to go down .5 in the NB 1080 12’s I recently purchased. Interestingly, I learned even different colorways can run slightly longer or shorter as they can come from different factories in different countries. And even more odd, staff in the store have noticed that black shoes seem to most often run shorter! Go figure.

Hmmm.... I'm intrigued. I'm thinking the Rebel v3 may be really good for doing sprints and other short distances which I don't really want to do with all my other running shoes that have so much midsole stack height. It may also be good for the gym and racquetball court to replace my On Cloud X. BTW, I love the Novablast 3 and it's the go-to daily trainer for me although I still love the Endorphin Speed 3 (which kofuzi didn't). I also have the Mach 5 which is great as well, so I don't need another daily trainer for running but I'd like something for doing short fast runs that is also nimble. Rebel v3 is definitely on my radar now.

Can the Novablast 3 or Mach 5 do short fast runs?
@alexkhan2000
@alexkhan2000 Год назад
@@fransera I think they are fine for short fast runs because they are light but they have big midsoles. The Rebel v3 just seems more compact and nimble but I won't know until I try. I was kind of surprised how big the Novablast 3 was when I opened up the box but, then, it was so light for its size.
