I cannot imagine the amount of people that will jump on arena if they make commander a thing. I totally agree with Athena that it’s better for us to be patient. I waited yrs for Timeless now I’ll just wait for the inevitable release of Commander.
In the end, she's probably right. We just want to make Pioneer State of the Meta videos already using the data we get from so much Arena play like we do with Stadnard. -MAX
They need to do something to jumpstart revenue. We love Arena and really hope for its growth more than anything. It makes the game so much more accessible. - MAX
I only free-roll draft on Arena, so I spend most of my time on mtgo. Arena just feels weird and unauthentic to me with the draw smoothing "feature" and the push towards best-of-one play. Plus mtgo allows me to play modern. 🤘
We don't typically play Bo1 at all. If you love Standard, Arena is a go to and makes collecting all the cards much easier IMO. It's a trade-off to be sure because we're still waiting on Pioneer in 2024. Ease of use, the UI, and the fact many people are already on it just make it easier to run events with, but c'est la vie. If we never get Pioneer you'll likely see me on MTGO also before long. -MAX
The problem with arena is they could have casual already, but they rig the casual and its so obvious to push you into the mindset that you arent good enough you need better cards. Arena just really needs to fix itself and shuffle up and play not try and stick you at 3 mana and fill your hand up with 4 mana spells while your definitely not a bot opponent with a perfect hand just curves into some insane game. And UW control definitely does not need more help, it and esper are the 2 builds that depend the most on cards that should have rotated out already. They really need to fix standard by slowing down the power creep and banning or slowing down the meta combos that no one caln deal with
I'd ask "who hurt you", but I'm gonna go ahead and guess Azorius Control/Esper Control did. Sorry bud, we all go through tough phases playing this game, I've definitely had to walk away from my computer for the day when variance hit hard or when I was just playing the wrong deck in the meta. To clarify: 1. Arena shuffler isn't rigged (we have zero evidence of this, just opinions so far to my knowledge. If we're talking Bo1, you have some hand-smoothing, but the easy solution there is to just play Bo3.). 2. If your deck is filled with 4-mana spells, you probably need to revamp the deck to have a better curve (common mistake, don't worry about it, just take some time to rock out some math) 3. I actually agree with wanting to slow down the power creep, but WOTC pushes the power to incentivize purchases as older cards flounder into obscurity (TLDR, it makes them more money to do a slow but consistent power creep). Hope all is well bud and this helps
@TheMTGRebellion I'm referring to play vs ranked. In ranked I don't feel there is rigging but if they want a casual mode which the do in play there is definitely scripted matches. I would love sometimes a casual mode to play but they definitely rig non ranked. I can't count the times an opponent has 240+ card deck with 4 colors who have happened to get the exact removal they need while finding multiple sheoldreds or jaces or vein rippers in their first 15 cards all on curve with the right mana. Then the next game play a toxic deck where they had 2 rotpriests and 2 tamios safekeeping in their opening hand and they just win turn 3 no matter what. I really get what your saying that this isn't proof, but I have played enough unranked vs ranked to say they can't implement a casual mode at this point that isn't some scripted match to try and push you towards needing to spend money to fix your deck. I would say most people who play mtg are at least above average smart and the math that maybe I'm .4 mana above curve doesn't add up to a 'player' with 200+ card deck running memory deluge to find their 3rd jace. How about you deluge 150 cards out of your deck haha 😄
