I've been a long time og Robocop fan, but I gotta say, this version was also really fun, probably sharing second best spot for a Robocop movie with OG Robocop 2. Instead of re-treading the same ground, it took the concept and used it to tell a diffirent(ish) story with more transhumanist theme, quite similar to the one from 2011's Deus Ex: Human revolution, although Alex wasn't as lucky as Adam. Instead of rediscovering his humanity, Alex already is human but is slowly being stripped of it while also coming to terms with what he is. I dunno if it's intentional or not, you can see his human side influencing the machine back in the test fight, despite the doctor saying that Alex is only along for the ride. The biggest problem of the reboot was not having any real memorable villain, as they focused too much on what becoming a machine would to a man. Not to mention the pg-13 limitation. But say what you want about satire, Samuel Jackson was fucking amazing. Also, The style they went for feels more like big budget show pilot instead of a movie. Like, the ending of the movie feels like an ending to a pilot promising more stuff but well... shame it ended there.
The biggest mistake the movie did was trying to be a reboot. It could perfectly be an offshoot of the original, on the same reality but years later, a different project based on the original and tell their own story, with references to Robocop being out there. It would have worked better, because their concepts are quite interesting.
Is it just me or i thought the At this version of Robocop was pretty cool!!! I loved the way the visor closed and that he was hookes to the Police computer.... his bike was awesome!!!! There were some very cool elements!!! Story was a little lame... keep up the great work guys 👍
Just began watching the TV series and soon the movies that come after. I love how in the first episode the actor doesn't move like robocop at all but then in the next scenes especially at the church he's nailed the robocop stride. Edens voice also grows on you a bit.
agreed 100% dude, its was a masterpiece .... that was meant to be left in the Masterpiece Movie Vault..... the music score when Murphy heads out for the first time as Robocop still gives me goosebumps 😮😮
Ive always loved robocop. It was my favorite movie to watch as a child. At just 4 years old i would watch it, rewind the movie and watch it again. Its frustrating to see that they cant recreate the same greatness in its sequels and the remake. That shows us just how great of a film maker Verhoeven actually is. If there were more Robocop films, it should've been Verhoeven directing them
Robocop 2014 had a different story to tell than the original. The original was all about unchecked corporate power, the new one was about drone warfare, terrorism and the ethics of transhumanism. I love the 1987 original, but I also like the 2014 version. They're very different films with mostly different themes that happen to share a lead character.
I grew up with the OG RoboCop trilogy. Even the third one was bad but it's better than the reboot. I don't remember much of the reboot except Micheal Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson.
Nah, 3 sucks period. No redeeming value to it at all. I'd take the reboot over that movie. 1 Robocop 2 Robocop 2 3 Robocop 2014 4 Robocop the Series 5 Robocop the animated series 6 Robocop Prime Directives 7 Robocop 3 🤣
This! When I saw the all black I thought it was horrible, but during the movie when it was silver and black I thought it looked great, but I get it...they tried to distance themselves.
I wonder if there could ever be a graphic novel where Robocop teams up with Spawn to fight some f'd up spooky situation with a cult, the crimes the cult-members commit and its connections to some demonic douchebag in some Halloween -genre story.
Sad thing is I wanted to like this movie. the Silver suit looked great and CGI was well done, but it just had to play itself too safe and not as satirical as the original films.
Oh and by the way, if you all want a suggestion for a cool comic, i suggest DAGO. It's an Argentinian-italian decennial comic and a channel just started to translate it in English a few days ago and it was NEVER translated, so if you want to try it ~ :) The RU-vid channel is something like EL RINCON DES LAS HISTORIETAS, but you'll find the first issue just by typing " Dago in English " :) REALLY recommend it, it talks about a 1500s' "italian" man enslaved by Ottomans and his journey through MENA as a slave-soldier and then through freedom. If you give it a try they'll probably continue translating it. Just a suggestionnnnn~°•♡
So 2014 RoboCop from comics they never rebooted it. This should be it own movie like whole new start from bottom of up. My brother start 2014 at Walmart 1.00 it didn't make it money .
Well other than becoming apart of Skynet in RoboCop Vs. The Terminator, and basically having his humanity and consciousness going through the net. Destroying Skynet, and then destroying the military satellites Skynet and ultimately himself
The RoboCop remake was not good there was actually no reason for them to remake it the original RoboCop was perfect there is no one who will pick the remake over the original what they should have did with scrap part 3 remade it and just called it something else
