It all boils down to positioning and will. But Rodman was a different breed, he studied the balls rotation and where it might bounce. That tenacity made him a monster on the boards. Good advice though coach

Growing up as a center, the one thing that always stuck with me was this. “If you cant get the rebound, doesnt mean your opponent has to get it”. (Obviously) What i mean is, swatting the ball to a teammate, or even out of bounds, prevents the opponent from getting a fast break.

Play pickup games, preferably not with those ultra tryhards that get mad all the time. Idk what your situation is, but that’s what I love about the streetball courts here. Not everyone is going to make a good game partner for you, but feel around a little bit. We regularly play games with people from different skill levels, where the game isn’t regarded in terms of all out winning, but let people experiment in a safe space. Ultimately you’ll have to learn to do it under bigger pressure but from my experience that helped people a lot with building a “confidence foundation” that would transfer quite well later on. Find the right people to start. People who encourage and challenge you and let you experiment. I know these people might not be around everywhere but it’s definitely worth a try! Wish you the best!❤️

Playing pickup a lot of time players get caught ball watching. I’m 5’10 and jump pretty high for my height.. so as soon as the shot leaves the shooters hand I’m looking for angles to crash the board and unless someone is paying attention to you theres gonna be no one there to box you out

should you always atack towards the basket if you get it, if not when should you pass or dribble outwards?
@miyagi-masters143
@miyagi-masters143 11 месяцев назад
I think of it as: shoot, pass and dribble. If you have the opportunity to shoot it then do so, if you cannot shoot then pass and if they are not available use a dribble. Dribbling after a rebound should be done with caution, as the lane is usually packed during a rebound and the ball can be easily hit away by a defender. Hope that helped.

Every situation is different. Big factor is your height/athleticism vs the defenders around you. Embiid should go up most of the time after offensive rebounds while Curry should pass/dribble out most of the time.

Ik it sounds dumb but I’m scared of grabbing rebounds. I’m 14 year old 5’10 sf with like a 5’7 wingspan. The even worse part is that I have ankle problems on both ankle and every time I’ve hurt them was from rebounds😕
@Tkd-yp3sq
@Tkd-yp3sq Год назад
I'd recommend start watching ankle stretching/strengthening exercise videos. Secondly, I'd start eating foods tht are rich in omega 3s, DHEA, Vitamin K, B12 to stimulate joint, tissue, tendon and cartilage growth/repair. Thirdly, I'd also recommend to start taking cold showers to muscle/nerve/tissue growth/repair and boost testosterone. The ankle is one of the few body parts tht is surrounded by bone, tendon, cartilage, tissues, muscle, nerves and joints. I'm pretty sure you've damaged at least one of the seven I just mentioned at least to some degree but if your doing the following daily then you'll be fine. It may seem like a bad thing that you've experienced these injuries already at a fairly young age but based on clinical research that's quite the opposite; there's a good chance your growth plates aren't finished doing it's thing, your testosterone is close to peaking (generally speaking), your red blood cell count is relatively high (generally speaking) and if you were to be put under an MRI 10yrs from now your scarring on your ankles shouldn't be etched that deep or should be barely visible. Lastly, I'd recommend taking Fenugreek vitamins for a boost in testosterone and Ashwagandha vitamins for a reduction in cortisol levels. The part about eating foods that are stimulate joint, cartilage, muscle, nerve growth was probably self-explanatory but this one understandably probably not so much 😅; testosterone is the hormone that allows athletes that have "tht dog in them" 😂. It's the hormone thts mostly responsible for enabling us as humans to throw caution to the wind and stay mellow under pressure situations. Fenugreek can and WILL make you more assertive, dominant, strong-willed and even slightly sharper mentally. Cortisol on the other hand is almost the exact opposite; it's the hormone thts mostly responsible for making us jittery, uneasy, anxious and just about anything else that comes to mind that reeks low confidence. Don't get me wrong, it helps us stay alert but it comes with side effects like the ones I just mentioned aka hyper awareness. It's like a superpower that sounds cool but it's actually annoying 😑. Ashwagandha will allow you to separate fact from feeling far more efficiently, enable you to bear more negative emotions and even better sleep. When you combine these two vitamins together it gives you a more capable brain overall. When you take into account every benefit I've listed regarding Ashwagandha and Fenugreek it completely mirrors every single quality of an elite athlete and all-time greats in the sports world 🏆. Being unprepared is the reason why 95% of the population live in fear; they don't create a plan and stick by it but instead they wallow in uncertainty. I can guarantee you that if decided to go with the regimen that I just gave you or something similar and don't wavier you'll trust in yourself enough to grab contested rebounds. The reason being is because you'll have actually proof to yourself that your ankles are strong via each time you do the ankle stretching/strengthening exercises. Number two, it's the commitment of proper dietary supplementation, cold showers and working out in itself that'll build your belief in self. There's something about commitment that the human psyche loves. When you're constantly giving your brain evidence that your capable of doing "xyz" it says "aight bet bro got this 🤷‍♂️", the conscious relaxes and the subconscious takes over and then BOOM just like that were x2 as likely to enter "flow-state" or the "zone" as is athletes call it. You're probably thinking "where's the repetitive motions am I mimicking from the being on the court while I'm eating or taking cold showers 😂?" I wasn't really referring to you eating or showering but more or less the workouts lol. Everything that I listed will callous your brain to an unbelievable level if you take it seriously: 1. Eating is the #1 or #2 hardest nervous system response to control which is why you should do it 😂 2. The human brain isn't naturally inclined to spend more calories than it has to which is why you should do it 😂 3. The average human is naturally inclined to live in an environment between 68° F and 78° F which is why you should take cold showers 😂 4. Ashwagandha and Fenugreek combined together will allow you to be more decisive, less hesitant and just a better athlete all-around which is why you should take it 👌 Excluding #4 every other one all have a common theme; being uncomfortable. It contains things that most people absolutely HATE to do it and that's part of the point. Doing these things will give you a slight edge bc of the latter. #4 may seem a little inferior in hindsight but it's just as equal; it's a hormonal stabilizer/booster and subsequently it'll more than likely give you a motivational boost too. Testosterone is also known for boost feeling of motivation hence taking Fenugreek would cause you to be more motivated than already are. Not to mention, there's slight dedication in that too. Of course it isn't nearly as mentally taxing but it's still a commitment. It's okay if you tackle all of this at once but I will say if you don't take care you this before you fully grow into your frame there's a chance you could be dealing with nagging injuries later on in the future. The "perfect time" to do anything will never come so why wait to start tomorrow? Why not right now 🤔? Hopefully this helps 🤝
