Before seeing this, I had already guessed the fact it was a graduation song due to the lyrics and the tone it is set in, but it also works with Evangelion
@@jacobfredman9442 It's when EVA-01 is put into autopilot and smashes Asuka to death inside of EVA-03, and Shinji is screaming for his father to turn it off but Gendo just sits there unflinching. It's pretty fucked up.
I find it interesting how near the end of the song it has some sort of filter that makes it sound as if it is being played through a speaker/com-device. Supports the theory that this song is not really a "soundtrack" for the viewer, but one that the dummy system plays when it takes over, blocks your view, and brutally attacks your friends with your eva.
firebat341 It'd literally take little-to no effort to do that. It's also not so much about caring for pilots, but hoping they have a calm mental state so they don't have a breakdown like shinji and start attacking your own base.
I don't think so. If that were the case, I'd be sure they'd change the way it sounds with each scene change in that part. But its the same volume no matter what scene. And watching the scene again right now, It doesn't really have that quality about it at all. Brutal theory, though.
many people have already pointed out specifics about this song but I think another interesting detail is the „sayōnara“. It has become a thing to foreigners that sayōnara is the Japanese goodbye but that‘s only partly true. It‘s more like the English „farewell“ and you wouldn‘t usually use it in your daily speech. Instead sayōnara is mainly used when you won‘t see somebody for a very long time or never again (Though it‘s still used between teachers and students for some reason). So yes, as people pointed out this is a graduation song but the use of sayōnara also indicates the death threat of this scene and the potential of Shinji and Toji never seeing each other again, until we see what happens afterwards
This song just makes me go "So they somehow managed to make Gendo an even worse Dad then in the original huh? I'm too impressed to be mad, I didn't think it was possible"
This was Asuka's Graduation (this song is played on japaness Elementary Schools on graduation day) in a manner, she was "finished" (terminated, ended, etc) after being brutally slaughtered by EVA 01's Dummy System. We know she was kept in an artificially extended coma to quarantine her from the Angel's still remaining corruption, but regardless... "her time had ended" as of that time.
Getting Goosebumps everytine when I hear this Song. The man behind this must have thought hey lets put a Children Song over a gruesome slauthering Scene.
GENDO: start the dummy system 😒 EVA01:going killer mode and destroying eva03 SHINJi: father❗ stop stop stoooop it👀 Everyone in NERV:😳😳😳 in shock how eva 01 became the monster rei looking at the screen being like ......ok.....at ME: who's watching 👀👀👀👀
The way rebuild kept this made the scene to be😭 than how it was in NGE to me in NGE I was like yes destroy it but in rebuild I was like nooooooo whyyyyy
Maya:Shinji please, just listen to us. Commander Ikari had to do it! you could have died if he didn't made that call. Shinji:that does'nt change that. Hyuga:But it's still the truth damn it. Shinji:I'D RATHER DIE THAN BE A PART OF WHAT YOU DONE!!!
(Comments remembering the eva unit 3 getting massacre by Eva1) *Me: remembering when shinji awaken unit 1 and saving Rei* 😭 Also me: THAT'S MY BOI !!!!!
i feel sad listening to this song because it makes me think about my friends i have right now and how we are not going to be around each other forever. we will have to say goodbye until we meet again. but we may never actually see each other again. so i try to appreciate my friends as much as i can until we eventually reach that point
So I decided to watch Evangelion to see why do people can't seem to shut up about it, then this song came up & I was like "Hmm, where have I heard this song before?" It definitely doesn't mean cannibalism. That "Mata Au Himade" bit is really familiar. Then just like that, youtube showed me this, I was like "Ohhh, it's that Japanese graduation song I sang while I was in highschool. Man, Shinji's graduation is pretty whack!".
the song started playing at the end of shinji vtuber graduation stream and when the stream stopped, the song kept going as the studio realize what's about to happen but it was too late...
