In this video, we look at a step-by-step rebuild of a 1986 Porsche 930 Turbo Wastegate.
The wastegate controls the maximum boost pressure and lets the exhaust gasses by-pass the turbo when at max boost. If your wastegate was not functioning properly, not holding pressure, or leaking at the valve, this could result in engine failure by over boosting the engine.
The wastegate is an integral part of the turbocharging system. The wastegate is there to control the induction systems' maximum boost pressure. Because the wastegate lives in such a hostile environment it is subject to a lot of wear and tear. Servicing the wastegate should also be a regular part of a detailed maintenance schedule. In this video, you will see what is involved in performing a service on this vital part.
