I love watching these bike rebuild series, always very informative but also satisfies the cheap bastard inside of me :P can't wait to see the Fireblade in full dress when it's done!!
every week these episodes get better and better absolutely love watching this fireblade rebuild. it’s giving me the same laughs and enjoyment like classic top gear episodes.
I swear the joy and happiness you get in these type of projects is million dollars worth ❤. Its simply an amazing feat to see something destroyed being bought yo life all by yourself !!! Really very very nice episode and i am enjoying it completely. Wish you good luck and best wishes🎉. Cant wait to see the rebuild ✅
It's good general advice but if you know what your doing and use the correct impact driver with the correct settings it's fine. If you're not sure then yeah maybe just don't try it. Just a bit of advice from over 30 years working on bikes and cars.
@@__Max-oe6zm Just like one with multiple power settings, from light a snug run up a thread, repeatable known toque measurements, to UGGGGDUGGGA, slap that ain't going nowhere.
currently in the same process of rebuilding my crashed bike and watching your success has given me alot of motivation to continue going, great videos and good luck
U.S based. I'm not a parts guy or anything, but if it makes more sense for you financially, I'd be happy to try to help you get your hands on future parts 🤙
Really enjoying this series mate, I salute you taking on the project o7 Always enjoy your well shot, well edited and narrated videos. Good job, keep it up! Looking forward to the Honda finished, and out on a test drive :)
Iridium spark plus are essential for sports bikes. Mainly because getting to the plugs for maintenance is a huge job. With iridium plugs, you don’t have to remove and gap the plugs for years at a time.
If you look at the state of the passenger foot pegs, they certainly helped prevent more damage. I fell with a KTM 690 and the passenger foot pegs prevented any side damage.
How about ordering the parts directly from Japan? Where I live, parts are also wildly expensive and I've found that doing that is often way cheaper, even factoring in tariffs, tax and shipping. I only know of Impex Japan, who have a weird system for ordering and paying, but so far they've not let me down once, and I've saved thousands trading with them rather than going through the local Honda dealers 🙂
Please upload the next part this is very entertaining knowing that a very gorgeous bike will be restored can be very exciting and I also envy you that's one of my dream bikes.
Nice project 12:47 the thread don't like to be painted :D I would masked that out with some tape. 16:40 Instead hammer, I suggest some kind a clamp (quick-Release Clamp, Clamp, etc.)
As you were reassembling the cables and components, could you have cleaned everything so that it looks new again? I always look under the seat to see how well the bike has been maintained, and a bristling clean area is terrific.
Not sure if it's a good idea to mix tapered roller and ball bearing in the steering stem. Ball bearings needs some preload, the tapered ones nearly to zero preload.
I agree with You, bearings shouldn’t be mixed… Specially in this case, as You said, different types of bearings requires different type of preload and tension force (N•m per headstock nut); Also in Honda repair manual shows only ball bearings and mostly in all models;
16:45 for putting rubber things onto-into metal things, use WD-40. WD-40 is a dissolved wax, so when you spray it on its nice and slippery, but once the solvent evaporates, the wax becomes more viscous and it wont come off as easy. it'll also allow you to take the part off/out easily too. for something permanent, golf club grip solvent is good, it turns from a lubricant into a glue
in my opinion , doesnt matter if u spend above budget cause ur creating a bike at ur 100% liking and if u bougth a used one u prob added more money on top to make it to ur liking
In all my years of messing with bikes, Honda parts are always very expensive compared to other brands. Anything I need from Honda is usually 2-3x the price of KTM or Yamaha parts. $2k for a subbie is mental, though. There's GOT to be something on eBay something.
I'd watch a video on how they straighten fork tubes, that sounds entertaining as hell to me, actually. That was the part i was worried about - the forks. Seems fine tho.
wish you all the luck, just had the time of my life replacing and bleeding brakes, still spongy but allot better now after hours on end bleeding and pumping, tempted to just drive 2 hours to nearest honda dealership in east rand so they can sort that out while doing my cams
Often times the routing of the brake hoses means an air bubble gets trapped in them and cannot be bled out. Pay attention to what the brake lines are doing and try to imagine if they are routed in such a way as to trap a bubble of air that cannot be bled out. If this is the case, unbolt the master cylinder from the handle bar and straighten the brake line up so the air bubble can travel up to the master cylinder. At which point simply undo the reservoir top and jiggle the brake lever slowly to allow the air bubble to exit up via master cylinder and reservoir.
@@sganzerlag thanks for the tip, dont have any flex tbh allot of hard lines and the short bit of rubber hose only bends so much due to other hoses joining left and right caliper together. its a weird braking system apparently i have been told. abs makes it hard enough to bleed 😂
It doesn't matter if you forget where things go if you have a workshop manual... If you can't find one for free on the internet then it's worth spending a few dollars to have one on hand!
I'd use stainless steel t-bolt clamps instead of chinesium stainless worm drive clamps if you don't want to use single use clamps. I hate it the way the chinesium auto clamps rust out so quickly.
Man if I had known you were struggling with that I would have offered to buy the used one that's on eBay for 400 bucks here in the US and send it to you.
you forgot option 4: POST FORWARDING ADRESSES. You pay a specialized company in whatever country that you want to buy a part to receive a adress in that country. Then you order your part and make a delivery to this new adress and afterwards they ship it to anywhere in the world that you want.
Greetings! Nice job ;) however I’ve noticed in steering assebly You use roller bearing at the top and ball bearing at the bottom - I’m pretty sure You shouldn’t do like this… both top and bottom should be ball bearings as per Honda manual…
Hi is it possible to just buy second ( just engine) buildnit up just for track finace not to expensive?? Idk what motorcycle need to start work and run for track all Electronic like start and dash etc
Should have 3d printed the tools and spend 2 dollars on tools... not 100 lol (happy to help with this as well LOL, just saying. I 3d printed many suspension "specialty" tools, and it works)
