Haha.. old Ron Burgundy.. lol! Gotta say, I really admire your motivation, time management, tenacity etc... So many people (me included) look at jobs like this and just think, it'll be SO much easier to just pay someone else to do it! Well done mate!!

If you loose the engine mounts, it makes it much easier to remove carbs and pipes, tipping it back and forth to move wrenches.

I have a gp760 to I'm doing a full build on with riva pipe aftermarket intake grate impeller flame arrestors stainless steel impeller and ride plate I can't wait to get it into the water

How in God's name did you manage to slide the cylinders over the pistons without removing the engine or using ring compressors? I recently rebuilt mine and had to take the engine out and it took 1 guy to hold the rings in while I slid the piston into the cylinder.

Hey. It was a bit of a wrangle, but rebuilding two stroke dirt bikes over the years help me with lining up the rings and making sure everything is in the right place before putting the head back on.

Oh mate I was feeling your pain for a while. Couldn't find a valve shim when I put a new camshaft in my Scrambler. Swept the floor lifted mats ( found the old kdx carb cable clip I lost a year before) nope. Ok Google triumph bottom end rebuild...no thanks have another look. In a puddle of oil 10mm away from the cam chain hole! Slowly slowly on the magnet. Bloody 4 strokes

Hello Joe, I have a 1998 yamaha waverunner xl760 I would like to know how it works since I have no idea it is my first time that I have it and I see how it is inside. It was a gift, he did not turn on, I bought him the pump but it did not activate and to start it he has a switch that they put on him. I think the original button does not work but I would like to fix it, could you help me, Thanks 🙏

Hey mate. Have you tested the start button? It is possible, but only very slightly, that it could simply be the start button that is not working.

Its most likely the starter solenoid. Very easy to fix and only costs 20 bucks. Common failure point.

What is that black hose on top of the head...right behind the rear spark plug connected to. Took my exhaust off to change the starter and that hose was disconnected laying under the exhaust???

No idea mate! This was years go. My best suggestion would be to see if you can get a PDF manual or sometimes just looking at parts diagrams helps to work those things out.

JoeJoe, can you elaborate on the process of "feeding" the rings and pistons into the head? It looks like a very blind process and probably very difficult to do from the bottom of the head? Thanks for any advice.

Mate, that's a hard one! It really is a very tedious and difficult process where you have to squeeze the rings in and in the right spot where the little locating part is. It's hard enough on a dirt bike with one cylinder, but doing it with two cylinders added a whole new challenge.

Hey mate. This was a very long time ago! I'm not sure. I just contacted my local jetski parts place and told them what I needed. It was a lot cheaper than what I thought for the full top end kit with gaskets.

I need to replace my muffler because it cracked. Hopefully it isn't a nightmare for me being an amateur. The video was time lapsed quickly during that part, hope there wasn't a lot I was missing.

I honestly can't remember mate. You'd need to find the manual for it. You can always find them online pretty easily and free.
