The cam bearing installation is included in a different video with the cam shaft install.
This is a B43G 18 hp Onan that was rebuilt in October 2013. It was pulled from a 1985 John Deere 318. By no means am I a mechanic, this was only the 3rd rebuild I had ever done when completed. You might do things differently, this is how I rebuilt this engine and hopefully helps others. (Total cost of the rebuild was ~$400 using all OEM Onan parts vs $1,500 for a repower). Repowers and rebuilds should be on a case by case basis. This took us three weekends to complete.

I suggest cleaning all of the gasket surfaces prior to assembly.

Do you have a video where you put the bearing in the bearing plate?

Does the shim have to go on the bearing plate side of crank? I found a shim on the oil pump mounted side and thought that was odd being opposite what u did. Also if I need to use 2 of the .005 shims to get correct spec would I use them together on bearing plate side or one on each side? Thanks, your videos are a tremendous help

Glad the videos are helping. I would need to go back and dig through my notes/manuals to completely answer your question. I think shims can go on either end but it is just easier to add them to the PTO end. (Since you can remove the front cover instead of taking the whole crankshaft back out)

way too late to help here but maybe someone will need this in the future, on my B43 from an ingersoll(case)226 had 1 shim(0.005) on both ends of the crank.

Did you replace the crankshaft front & rear bearings? They look new in your video, but I only see you replacing the cam bearings and crank thrust washer & shim

We did not replace the main bearings. We did mic them and they were well within spec (neither the crank or the bearings showed much wear at all.... I don't have the numbers any more). Typically there is not a lot of wear on the main bearings in these engines.
