This is sure shaping up to be your magnus opus Scott, It almost feels like an official remaster - SvR 2006, The way it should've been released! You've single handedley saved us from another year of mediocre wrestling games.
Incredible video Scott. Glad you brought back the longer documentary style, the build up to release stories are always so interesting. It sounds like pre-release for WWE games back in the PS2 was insanely fun. THQ knew how to hype up their releases back then! Shame it's not like that these days. 😔 Keep up the great content buddy! 🙂
I thought it was always pretty obvious the trio entrance was Angle, Luther and Jindrak tbh. “TeamAngle” was likely just their quick, shorthand name in development.
This may be my favourite rebuilding you have ever done next to Here Comes The Pain. You made one of the best wrestling games of all time EVEN better. You did an exceptional job. I could see who you added in when scrolling through the roster in GM Mode, all the attires from 2005 and those multiple championships. Fantastic work here Scott. THQ and WWE would be proud. On a sidenote, a guy named PtoPOnline owns the preview build of Wrestlemania 21. It hasn't got much in it from what I have analysed but it had a few differences: -GM or Tag Team titantrons weren't implemented yet. -Some items you could buy in WWE Shopzone had different names, had different text and placed in different orders in the menus they were in. -The Smackdown ring was slightly different. -The game was less buggy and played better than the final game.
God I hope Hoorah Miz and ECW CM Punk make it to SvR 2007. BTW, I’m literally getting the option to do international transactions in my card just to support your Patreon hahahaha keep up the good job, mate
Hoo boy, I cannot wait to get my hands on this one, this game represents the first year I was super into wrestling, I kinda started glossing over wrestling around late 2004, but by mid 2005, wrestling was white hot around my neck of the woods, when this game came out I wanted to have it, but I couldn't find one in my area sadly, now, the next installment, SvR 2007, would be the first wrestling game I ever owned and my favorite wrestling game of all time, so it goes without saying that I'm anticipating it's definitive edition ecstatically, greatly appreciate your hard work Scott, hopefully you can get a rest and have a great weekend.
Day of Reckoning 2 was dope. Lead designer Shunsuke Katsumata was from AKI and worked on No Mercy and other AKI wrestling engine games. I think he and others worked on some SVR games after the Gamecube team ended.
Man thank you for this, all the updates you put out after the pandemic hit kept my spirits up and i was excited everyday for a new update and I’m sure I’m not the only one🙌
Love your summaries. Takes me back, reminds me of the general feeling of the time and fills me in on what was happening outside of my wrestling bubble.
This is the wrestling game I spent the most time on as a kid and it's incredible to see the effort you're puttin into it. This game still holds up to this day. I'm genuinely excited for the final release. You are doing God's work.
Definitive GM Mode sounds great to me And a little question, are these mods Patreon only? Cause I tried to find downloads for previous definitive edition but I was unable to find them. Would love to play these :)
Just started watching your videos and I’m genuinely impressed with how much work you put into making these already legendary games even better. Got yourself a new subscriber💯 Keep up the good work.
Do you know when you'll have a update with Brock Lesnar and Rikiski from the first Smackdown vs Raw. I know you showed their character models from the early development a few months ago.
Not gonna lie I wasn't too big on 2006 much compared to Here Comes The Pain or the GameCube series (especially Day Of Reckoning 2) as I didn't enjoy 2006 as much as them. However I will say all that you've shown for the definitive edition still has me quite excited and makes me want to really try it whenever it becomes available. The new additions to the roster alone make me want to.
Love it all so far. Just hope we can get one of Orton's black trunks. Either WM 21 (with elbow pads) or Survivor series 2004 would be perfect. Since you mentioned Brock. Is he going to have his red Japan gear by any chance? Would be a cool reference to what he was up to during this period.
Scott, are their plans for alternate attires for la resistance? They came with their new gimmick themes and trons in the base game but kept the tag team attires from raw, keep up with the good work!
Dumb question but how do you get the definitive edition for the PS2? I see that Christian has his logos and stuff on this one versus the bland blue tights
I learned the Fulfill Your Fantasy match was actually at Taboo Tuesday '04, not SummerSlam '04 arena. Will you change the Fulfill Your Fantasy arena to Taboo Tuesday?
Man I didn't care about any of those games except San Andreas which I didn't get until years later. It's still the GOAT. SVR (2004) was lacking some polish and it wasn't No Mercy and it never will be, but it was my first foray into the SD series and I enjoyed it.
Why THQ dropped that feature (stamina when both wrestlers laying on the mat raising your stamina meter to gain advantage for your wrestler to get up before the count of 10, and the sit down (concussion) stamina, when a wrestler had a concussion when the referee counts before 10) to the next WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw title (referring to WWE SvR 2007 and onwards)?
Thank you so much for this upload! Would I be able to/how would I be able to play the definitive editions on my PS2 console? I ordered a new one the other day and would love to play your versions on it, if possible. Thanks! :D
Everyone including Jazz Hands Kenny Omega talks like No Mercy and HCTP were the holy grail of wrestling games, but for me SVR 06 was the absolute best. The gameplay had so much depth, this is probably the wrestling game I've spent so much time on as a kid. I was so disappointed when they dialed back on alot of the mechanics in favor of that shitty Ultimate Control gimmick for SVR 07 and going forwrard. IF and I hope they do, bring back elements from here like the stamina effect, the double knockout system, more realistic limb damage and blood level, pre match mini games, sleeper system and combine it with the newer games' features like better momentum system, paybacks, one button reversal, the submission mini game, chain wrestling, pre and post match assaults, now that would add so much depth to the game.
10:13 What do you mean John cent was the only character that an attire change? Nearly everyone in the video had different gears that didn't make it to the final product.
I remember there were rumors in 2005 that Lesnar was going to return. Is this a hidden, in-game model that they happened to work on with this possibility in mind?
