A couple of wrenching pointers: don't use a sledge to install seals, at the very least use a piece of wood with it. Also, you don't wana drive in bolts with the impact if they're resisting while just threading them in. That's how you end up cross threading and snapping hardware.

One thing I learned rebuilding my 1.8t from someone else who tire it down, hoses and connectors just know where they go after so long. Since my 1.8t was n ATW head and the most complicated vacuum system on the 1.8t, learn now to consolidate and delete where you can

Such a nice late 90s intro, really really cool. You definitely did the right thing waiting for the proper gasket on the "Ruheraumdeckel" or compensation-cavity-lid!? No idea what's it called in english. You don't want water and oil mixed. If you haven't already, you should consider buying an endoscope camera. Was a real upgrade for me, although I cheaped out and did not get one with movable head. Harder to see perpendicular to the piston top while probing the spark plug shaft. And look for copper glitter when draining oil. Don't want your crankshaft bearings being dead.

11:30 Somebody please correct my logic - 1. Electricity follows the path of least resistance. 2. Carbon build-up occurs within the cylinders. Therefore carbon will build up on the spark plug ground straps as well. The produced spark will find its path, obliterate what carbon build-up is on said strap and now have a point of lower resistance. Which then just creates a positive feedback loop. So 3 of the 4 straps become ignored. I feel like Bosch wouldn't waste their time if there wasn't some appreciable improvement, but with my current understanding, I don't get it.
