You can't prove that though. The court deemed that it's an involuntary manslaughter. At the end of the day, we don't truly know whether it's an intentional murder or not and whether he's a sociopath with no empathy or not. There's no evidence.

Jun Ya No, *I* can't prove it but I believe the DA did and Mavrick's actions did. Very hard to balance someone's brains spilling onto the ground vs. a cut pinkie and feel that struggle was over self-defense. Hit someone on the head once and flee, I can see. Bash someone's head 6 times with a rock you placed outside the tent door, hide the weapon, steal money, put a body in a car, steal car, leave the body til decomposing, dump body, flee to Mexico, text with friends about how much the body stinks, take selfies, never call police about being attacked, never express remorse to the family for the "accidental" death... Fact is, if Mavrick felt threatened by Grant previously, he could have simply fled. He had the smarts to get to Mexico, he could have gone home. He wasn't afraid of Grant--he was angry at him. And he expressed it with a rock.
