I agree with Alex on not wanting to analyze the comments, but one must acknowledge that they do make the Rabbi look bad and that whomever coordinated this event should had at least an internal discussion on his comments before proceeding. Thank you Alex for telling us about the main sticking issue, though I don't understand why you didn't include it until after the first commercial break. People often have little patience to watch a report longer than 5 minutes and would have left with the impression that the pro-Palestinian people only have issues not directly related to the Rabbi other than being a settler on Palestinian land. And the Rabbi's comment about them wanting to destroy Israel via the letter is a misdirection as there was no comment for the state of Israel to be eliminated, only a condemnation of Zionism as the cause of Israeli founding. There is nothing in the letter that suggest that the pro-Palestinian people wouldn't prefer solutions other than the removal of Israel. There was plenty of room for discussion here along this line, but the Rabbi clearly chose to shut them out, tried to deflect attention from himself, engaged in intentional fallacies, and demonized his opponents. Shows his character. Also, being internationally recognized doesn't make you any less of a settler. I'm sure plenty of indigenous people in the US would love to have a word with this man.

sad to see that after so many great, rich interviews with deaf israelis and deaf palestinians on the daily moth, this story was told in a very clearly biased manner. the questions to the rabbi were already setting things up as though the protest was dangerous and antisemitic (with questions like "was this all just antisemitism?"), despite the fact that no one got hurt, no property was damaged, and several jewish people themselves were part of the protest. on the other side, we saw how the questions to the students (like "do you regret your protest?") were biased against them and not making this feel at all like there was any sympathy for the students and staff who are fighting an institution.

Happy to see Gallaudet students practice their First Amendment rights and stand by the university’s mission to not abide by hate of any kind (racism, homophobia, xenophobia, misogyny…); the comments not shown, which spurred the protest, does context matter when something said is infused with threats to harm? Superiority over one group of people? Demeaning language and blatant disrespect, disregard, dangerous rhetoric? Show the comments so we can get the complete picture of the full scope of the reason behind the action. “none of you would want to rest content with the superficial kind of social analysis that deals merely with effects and does not grapple with underlying causes. MLK Jr None of us should. “Nonviolent direct action seeks to create such a crisis and foster such a tension that a community which has constantly refused to negotiate is forced to confront the issue. It seeks so to dramatize the issue that it can no longer be ignored. I am not afraid of the word "tension." … there is a type of constructive, nonviolent tension which is necessary for growth.” MLK Jr The above is exactly what these students did. They created nonviolent tension, which has opened the door to conversation to actions that have been needed within and without our community for 5 months now (and long before that). I hope those who gathered are proud of themselves because I am. I hope the university does the right thing and fosters an environment that allows their Palestinian students and those in support to feel safe and able to be.

If you read the letter from the protestors all the way to the bottom, the posted screenshots of the Rabbi's comments on the internet suggest he's the very opposite of being pro-Palestinian.

I am sorry both for the Jewish people in Israel and the Palestinians suffering. There are hard core members of Hamas that never change their minds and there are frustrated Palestinians whose loyalties change day to day hour to hour. Who wouldn't feel angry Israeli or Palestinian if their child had been shot? If a non Jewish male that disagreed with Israel when he child was shot shouted the Jewish government is criminal he'd be considered a Hamas sympathizer and enemy combatant. Definitely and beyond doubt non Jewish Palestinians living and working in the area are treated as sub-human. A person I actually know of said on tour in Israel he was asked if he was Christian or Jewish by the military because the answer would determine if he could visit parts of the city that others are not allowed. ...and it wasn't even a religious section! In the US a majority of universities seem currently terrified of upsetting believers of Israel's right to expand and fear being labelled antisemetic the same way many people are terrified of being labelled racist. You don't understand our viewpoint can easily become code words. I think the Daily Moth did a good job in interviewing the two parties involved. I am more than proud that the campus respondent to the questions was Jewish also.

17 Tammuz holiday? Conference of the Queens for the Mediterranea Federation from around 500BC? Why does the war still go on and not be reigned by a seafaring islander Queen not part of Schengen zone in Europe?

That's why his face like supporter than Palestine by he questioned to Rabbi. Alex should have questions about Palestinian's their story of experience or something. We stand with Palestine! So sad there was a protest against Jewish rabbi. We all the humans can’t find truth in books, or by mouths that cause confusion, anger, frustration. Religions and races can destroy us for what? That’s stupidity. We respect other person’s religion and live comfortably period. No religious protest on campus please. I feel bad for rabbi who visited Our college. No truth in history or any books we are born with limited minds as we are humans not God. Show respect for humans. In other countries people suffer religious suppression, persecution and limited citizenships. We are HUMANS wanting freedom and peace.

Colonialism is so normalized it's disgusting. Russia, the US and Australia (just to name a few) are all Colonial countries too. Israel is a country sure, or at least widely recognized as one, but that doesn't mean it's mode of existence (the violent colonialism and genocide part) is ethical. The US does not exist ethically either and also has participated in horrific genocide - just a reminder.

Unfortunately, there is a long history of wars between Israel and Palestine , dated back to the 1947 war. However, Gallaudet knew the likelihood of potential protest on campus. Gally administration should advise against such visits from hostile country due to political violence.
