If Gukesh believes Fabi and Nepo will not draw, then Gukesh is also somewhat in a position where he would want to win.

Being in the lead, and playing as black against one of the chasing players, I don't think he should try to take any risk. Hikaru will need to take risks anyway. Gukesh can play solidly, and just punish if Hikarus goes too far. Going to play-off is much less risky than trying to win as black.

The way Pragg faded in 2nd half, occassionally losing focus , reflects how tired the players are at the end of this tough and long tournament.
