You absolutely monstered that 470....it was ridiculous. To get an injury so close to peaking for that show is cruel. The mental and physical battles you must have been having, to get into that 505 and really go for it, knowing you weren’t physically 100%, takes some bottle! Im sure I’m not the only one who thinks you’ll get it, with a perfect, injury free prep.💪🏻😎 Well done, mate.
Absolutely commanding lift at 470 . Because you know you can do it. 505 moved and you now Know you can do it. Use that meticulous training regime and out of this world support from your amazing wife. You will do it. Team Hixxy
Perfect outlook Graham, I saw the rye smile when you couldn't get the 505 any higher like you finally met your enemy. You''ll get it next year. In fact I reckon we'll see you pull 505 in the gym before then.
You was incredible mate and it was awesome to meet you after the show for a photograph. I really appreciated that you took the time to do that for us fans, I felt sorry for you when you said "I just want to sit down" 🤣 You're a good man mate.
I have said it for a while now that you will be the first one to beat Eddie’s record in competition. I think you’re going to do it within the next two years.
@@jebudylajtwejt8051 no disrespect, but Thor holds the record in the gym, but to do it in competition competing against others you would be beating Eddie’s record. If Graham lifts that weight in his gym, then what’s the difference between what Thor did?
@@youtubeconnollyfamily No danger at all, I guess you are not aware of the details. Firstly, Eddie got an opportunity to only be in the deadlift event. Previous records have been broken if you participated in the entire competition. As Savickas broke his records back in days. Therefore, Savickas also said that Eddie was not in the competition at all. Bit of a joke, But he has a point. Then Eddie made the demand to use his own bar and platform from home, if he would try to lift the 500 kilos. The Englishmen who are Eddie's pals and today's business partners. Went along with it. I mean how often does someone get to use their own equipment in a competition. And now it was about trying to break a world record. Then it will be Eddie who had to dictate the weight jumps up to the 500 kilos. He was also given unlimited rest time between lifts. The competition was tailored so that Eddie would have every opportunity to succeed. Haftor's 501 record was sanctioned by the strongman association WUS. Sponsored by ROGUE. The entire spectacle was broadcast live by ESPN. And watched live by millions of people. He had the world's most famous strongman judge there to judge the lift. Weights were weighed live in front of the camera and everything was verified and approved. And he was allowed to rest a maximum of 15 between the heavy lifts. A little harder than Eddie's 30-40min And they had set a date two months ahead. The record would attempt to be broken on that date. Just like you have a competition date to stick to. And try to peak right then. Had he failed, he would not have had the opportunity to try again the next day. Does this mean that Haftor must have felt pressure to succeed right then? Yes absolutely. Therefore, you cannot say that it is just a gym lift. You can actually organize competitions and events in a gym too. Graham then, well if Graham manages to get strong enough to be able to lift 502kg or more then he should definitely get an opportunity. As long as he gets a sanctioned and verified lift, I see no problems. Just because someone gets the opportunity doesn't mean they will succeed. Ivan Makarov has probably had about 10 opportunities both at home and in competitions, but still not successful.
Great effort. Definitely proved how strong you are. I have to say to. Kixxy was looking stellar helping you on stage. Congratulations to you on having a great wife and winning the deadlift.
Time to get in the fucking history books as the best static lifter there has been, I believe in you Graham, absolute hero of mine. You have far more than the 505 imo. When funds permit and I'm out of debt id like to sign to your online coaching. All the best mate
Don’t forget that Eddie had to essentially hypnotise himself into pulling 500, I think you’re just as strong but tapping into that hysterical strength is how he did it, you got it off the ground with just a slap on the back which is pretty amazing
Amazing, glad to see you get the recognition for the static monster you are! Would love to see you focus more on the pure strength lifts because all the strongman talk so highly of your static strength and I'd love to see you blow a few minds.
I’m soo convinced you will pull the wr next time especially because you’re taking it serious and committing a full year. Just remember you have time don’t go get injured 😅
Out of the three that attempted it you were the one I felt had the best chance to to lift it. You did yourself proud and I agree I don’t believe you know where your PB is yet. Onward and upwards Graham, 505 will come, I think you have more in the tank.
AWESOME STUFF GRAHAM 👏👏👏👏👍👍👌 💪💪 YOU DEFINITELY HAVE THE ABILITY TO LIFT MORE AND YOU SHOWN THAT ON A VERY BIG STAGE WITH A VERY WIDE AUDIENCE. WELL DONE YOU
You are a champion my brother. Keep going. If you take a whole year to prep for it, you. You can pull it man!! Recover, heal up and go back to the battle field!
The fact that everyone else not having all you physical issues ( hamstring tear ) and not be able to equal or exceed your lift makes your lift even more impressive !
Use the 505 weight. Put on plywood blocks starting with 12" then remove each layer as you can lift until you can lift from the floor. Stay strong. Stay safe. Be happy.
To come and win the WDC after that injury with a 3 month prep proves to me you have the 505 in you. I’ll make sure I have a ticket to witness it next year
Absolutely smashed it. To beat out that field with a hampered hamstring is phenomenal. Would love to know how you programme to hit such big numbers on the deadlift. I’d certainly buy it if was a purchasable programme 🙌
Great Effort and superb movement on the 470! definitely believe you have to record oncee fit and injury free! You will get there! love watching the progress!
He can do like Eddie Hall and ask to show up at the competition with his own bar from home like Hall did. So maybe it will work out. And get to rest up to 30-40 minutes like Eddie got. Laughter haha
Unlucky on not managing the 505 Graham. A smoother lift off might have avoided that little flex that pulled you back down, but that's easy for me to say. I'm still convinced you could do it, but whether you decide to try again or not, congratulations on the win and massive respect for the attempt at the WR.
We thought Makarov would have it this year as he looked inhuman, but in the end Graham moved 505kg much further than the others despite being the only one who did the 470kg step. Strongest deadlifter in the world right now 👍
Nice one mate....I hope you see this as a start to break the 505 and not an ending. Keep going fella. Great lift for the 470....also stop shaving your legs
Amazing that you were dealing with that tear and just went and speed repped 470kg. That rep reminded me of the 472kg (I think) Eddie speed repped the year he won worlds. From this video I am most interested to hear that you haven't been doing log Press for a while.
Great lift mate. You’re definitely in that 490ish range. Easy 505 next year given how quickly you have improved! Would a slight increase in body weight help?
Last year was impressive when you did 455. The 470 this year looked lighter. The mental strength was the most impressive thing after the hamstring tear. Pure mind over matter champion. 505 in 1 year looks realistic at this rate.
Honestly for the first time since Thor i think someone has a legit chance to break the record. If you can have a nice prep for next year I think that 505 will definitely fall
Hixxy I’d love to see you just prep then get Darren in when your ready to set it all up legit as a one off show like during covid as you keep getting wee niggles close to the comp. We all know your the biggest static beast on planet just now 👍👍
I get where your coming from but Darren is not his dad and it need not be in his home gym. For such a huge weight I just think one chance each year is not sufficient as so much can go wrong in a 10-12 week training block.
Great effort and congrats on the win. I think with a full year of prep and a bit of luck to stay healthy and injury free you've got a great shot at 505. Do you plan on trying some heavier singles in the 480+ range to get you ready for the record next time around?
I think if you had done 470 in training, you might've got it above your knees but we can't cry over shit in the past. Keep training and just take this as a learning experience. Also I've noticed the bar was leaning towards your right side, if I'm not mistaken the torn hamstring is on your left, right?
I'm always torn. If you want to break records you have to step away from full shows. I think my goal will be to do.the record then it's done and I just be full strongman again after
Did you do any fancy rehab for the tear like i saw on Brian's channel (ultrasound and injection)? Not sure what's available in the UK to rehab for people like yourself. Its certainly not as advanced here as USA.
The jumps leading up to 505 were what you wanted or were they forced on you? Did you have one eye on winning the deadlift as 470 gave you a decent chance of winning Congrats on the win. Looking forward to seeing how the next 12months of training will go for you💪🏻
If you continue the deadlift journey, you will be the world record holder in near future. I dont think Makarow is a concern. I think he has peaked. Looks like he is going to die every time he goes heavy. I dont see anyone else coming in and taking the 505 WR before you. Great work. Looking forward to your 505 lift!!!!! A LOT!!!!!
