I'm not disagreeing with your Nylander numbers, but get the facts straight. Nylander did hold out, but that was six years ago. Boston has to realize that their generation of players who sign for discounts is over. Whether one agrees with Swayman or not, the careers of players is limited and I'd be trying to get the most that I could. Especially in a rising cap era. The Bruins made a few mistakes with this. As I understand, they could have signed Swayman to two years a year ago. They assumed that all the players would take a Bruins discount, and they're telling Swayman to prove himself after they declared him the starting goalie and a pivotal part of the team. That said, Swayman was an idiot for attending his arbitration. That's why you have an agent. Goalies hugging is the care bears, not the big, bad Bruins. Ultimately, what you've got is a team that put all of it's eggs in one basket for a goalie that's very difficult to sign, and will be harder to trade.

To really put it into perspective just how few games he’s actually played. Tristian Jarry has more career WINS (136) than Swayman has TOTAL career games played(132) so far!!! Just take the 8 million already!!

Brock Faber plays 90 games, gets $8.5 million x 8 years. It's seen as a pretty good deal for Minnesota long term. Analytically, Swayman the last 3 years is the 8th best goalie in the league, and is asking for 65-80% of what Shesterkin is likely to make. He's seen as greedy.

What happens if he gets $8 mill + and gives up 5 goals at a home game ??

I absolutely love it! I hope he keeps holding out until December. By then, Boston 's too far out of the playoffs to even make a run, but Boston still ends up having to overpay.

A goalie like Swayman can stand on his head and shut down the other team, but if your team isn’t scoring it’s tough to win. Also he’s not asking for Vasilevskiy money… the cap has gone up just because he is asking for the same amount it’s not the same percentage of the cap. Tuukka got the same percent as Vasilevskiy and he never won a cup as the starter, in fact he was in net when they blew the 3-0 series lead in 2010… he also didn’t win his Vezina trophy until after he signed the massive deal… oh and he wasn’t putting in 55 games when he got that deal… so why can’t Swayman get paid?

Its crazy these guys claim that this generation is soft while whining and crying about a guy trying to get his money. Just because you guys got bent over in negotiations your whole careers does not mean that the generation behind you does. The cap is going up a ton these next few years and the contract will feel like a steal. Percentage of cap-wise, I believe that Rask got an even higher contract while only having played 30 or so more games than Swayman at the time.
