I think you might have liked one punch man more if you read a lot more manga before reading it, it’s a satire on the typical shonen manga so a lot of the stuff might not really work for you.
ONE PUNCCHHHHHHH. Seriously though watch the Anime, the animation is amazing and the story does start fleshing out. I’d also recommend the Mob Psycho 100 anime by the same author
Nice review, the fun in one punch man is that its mostly a sattire of different superhero manga tropes. You might wanna check out, Vinland saga Attack on titan Vagabond Monster. Cheers man :)
one punch man is amazing, it's super hero satire... the art work is amazing it it show cases an amazing example of how you can diverge expectations and turn the story on it head... it is hilarious and full of action.
People coming into manga one punch man is better the more manga/anime you've taken in. It's like watchmen/the boys for superheroes, a normal person watching watchmen/ the boys might not pick up on all the tropes of super hero comics and stuff etc
dude idk about the manga kuz idc about manga but DUDE, the show is worth checking out. trust me. i literally bet all my possessions that you will be in love with opm if you see the series. i seriously do not give a fuck about anime and manga but opm is the easiest recommendation i can ever make.
One punch man in the first few volumes can be slow, but it gets better the later it goes on. For manga, I'd recommend mobile suit gundam the origin and attack on titan.
Im very late so you wont see this but one punch man gets pretty fantastic later on. there are pretty many charecters and there is No main villains until later on. as of now there are 17 volumes.
I'm glad that you were honest with this review. Just wanted to say that though One Punch Man seems one-dimensional and purely for-the-jokes on the surface, it can actually get fairly deep and philosophical.
Dude's all over the fucking map haha! Awesome dude! As I've said before to people, just ditch shit you aren't enjoying, same as comics. I would say 90% of Anime and Manga is terrible, same with Comics, same with Books, same with Movies.
The thing is, Saitama is Meant to be bland and goofy looking. The whole purpose of him is to be the antithesis to what you expect, While being the most stereotypical protagonist ever. He's overpowered and alway wins, but he looks like someone cosplaying as a hero amongst all the overly designed over the top characters that Look like what you'd expect over powered characters to be like. Saitama's personality is basically satire on Superman via a realistic person who is bored AF and feels listless. He's so strong that Nobody can provide a challenge to him, thus he just reacts. The story doesn't really come together until the first arc ends. But once it does, the story gets more character development from the rest of the cast, while Saitama takes a backseat and basically makes a spoof out of the stereotypical "Tournament Arc" setup.
Now that I see your interest in manga I have a suggestion for you. You should look up Parasyte (weird spelling) it’s a manga series but I first heard of it from a friend and we watched the anime series, it’s on Netflix. Great video Gem 💎
In no particular order I would recommend: Monster 20th century boys Lone wolf and cub Cool honest review, keep it up ✌️ I would suggest seinen manga which are for mature readers like Berserk, one punch man is shonen (younger readers)
Gantz brother suss gantz 'senin' manga death game sick af cgi rendered backgrounds with hyper violence, death note for ya super psychological genius vs genius, Cant wait to see what manga ya slam next bruuosepiii
You should continue. When i first heard the concept for the story I immediately thought it was boring. A guy defeats anyone in one punch?? c'mon. But then i watched the anime and i was proven wrong. It wasn't just the awesome animation but the characters and story too. I then went ahead to read the manga (I ended where season one got to. Don't wanna spoil it for myself) cos the art was really good(one of the best). There's a reason why it's being praised and it's definitely worth the hype. It's a different take on the typical hero story; usually the hero starts at the bottom to get to the top, but saitama is already there and that's the point. I would definitely recommend you read or at least give the anime a try if the manga isn't cutting it.
Keep up the manga reviews! I think you would've liked this more if you were familiar with common shonen tropes, since this is a satire of those tropes. It's meant more as a dry comedy rather than an action series. If you want stuff in hardcover, maybe try Devilman. It's really old, and it shows, but it's still badass and a lot of fun.
well i know this is a old video and im not sure if you have changed your opinion on this series, but it does get really good i believe its around volume 5 where most get hooked on the series
You should try Vinland saga it’s more of a adult themed manga from what a can tell in the berserk review you prefer that type plus lots of action and it’s set in the Viking era it’s in hc format in in stock trades
I'm bummed you didn't care much for it, but it is a satire on the Dragon Ball Z type of manga. My recommendation is Fullmetal Alchemist. They are publishing nice HCs right now.
Season one, which seems like it was inspired by this in particular book, was fascinating! I adored how less is better and entertaining when it came to the depiction of our protagonist 😎 I took it as a satire on superhero mythology and the journey rather than the biography of our main character worked for me personally 😎 PEACE
I recommend Jojos Bizarre Adventure Jojo Sono Shino Sadame Jooooooooojo also all the volumes are in hardcover and each hardcover contains one and a half volumes worth of pages each.
Waiting for your review of the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Omnibus 2019. I think He-Man is the most underrated superhero, artists and writers should do more justice with the he-man comics series. I am a great fan of He-Man mini comics
What up Gem!?! Thanks for a new vid. Manga is of no interest to me thanks for taking one for the team. Keep up the great work and I'll looking forward to the next vid!
I've read all 14 volumes of One Punch Man it is one of the most fun reads to be honest, I look forward to it coming out every 2 months or so. You have to give it a few volumes, the art is awesome as you go on and some of what happens is really funny and also engaging. To save time you could just watch Season 1 , episode one is a bit shit and disjointed but after that it gets really really good. The anime is scene for scene from the manga.
If you enjoyed Berserk there's a few other top tier fantasy/historical mangas you might enjoy: Vinland Saga, Vagabond, Blade of the Immortal and Shin Angyo Onshi.
Top mangas I would recommend you looking into would be Berserk, Vinland Saga, Vagabond, Blame and hunter x hunter all amazing mangas ongoing from the 90s. If you want some nightmares check out some junji ito.
So many nice Manga Hardcovers out there, if you want an epic read grab the Battle Angel Alita box set it'll be right up your Street, also the Ghost in the Shell box is really nice, if you wanna do an anthology Fullmetal Alchemist is great don't let the cartoon style fool you that shiz gets serious, any of the Junji Ito Hardcovers are nice but I'd start with Uzumaki, although Gyo is so good, the Gundam Origin and Devilman and Jojo Hardcovers are all awesome but are all a bit niche.
Gem, Absolutely read Fullmetal Alchemist, sets a standard for manga and anime. A fantastic epic story about two brothers and the price people have to pay for things they want They just started publishing very nice hardback editions in english, got the first 2 myself, I think they are 5 volumes out now? They're on amazon, and very affordable. I think you would dig it. Both versions of the anime are awesome as well!
Blade of the Immortal is really good, so I'd highly recommend that. I watched the first 6 episodes of One Punch Man on Netflix and I'll watch the other half. It's kind of all right, but I don't think it's the greatest thing ever, and I don't have any great desire to pick up the manga.
Never read the manga but the anime is dope af. He gets development and it has a continuing story even though the first few episodes make it seem simple. Based on what you said maybe the manga also gets better. But def check out the anime before wasting more money on something that doesn't make you happy.
Its very satire and grotesque. A great story that you can appreciate more only if you go through greater stories/animes/mangas. I also feel like the anime is giving out better atmosphere.
I just started reading OPM about a month ago. I just finished the third volume and I have to say it gets better. There's definitely a certain sense of humour to it that may not be for everyone I suppose.
So my top 3 manga in no order would be naruto, assassination classroom (this one is weird but amazing if you go into it with an open mind) and death note this one has black editions which are basically softcover deluxe editions with black paint sprayed on the edges of the pages. Defo suggest trying each of those
