Thank your for sharing your knowledge. There is a ton of videos on this topic, but few of them know what they are doing or why. I liked that you took the time to explain more in depth your formulation and reasoning behind it. I hope for more of this to come as I am considering making my own beard oil, balm and butter and tinkering with different scents

Would you possibly do a beard butter video and talk about the difference between the beard butter and beard balm?

Love your beauty & style! I ran out of beeswax. So I made a "test" portion. I substituted Emulsifying wax. Condensation developed...I see you used .04 oz of arrow root poweder. To determine the percentage based off this video using 6 tines, can you share your batch size or tin (they look like 1oz tins) UDATE I went to your website. So I came up with .04oz/6oz=.067% right?

I have a question. I’ve made beard balm a couple of times. I love your recipes and have used them and like you suggested in the video, I’ve tried it with Shea and mango and some buckthorn infused grape seed. In a couple of my batches I’ve noticed after a few weeks, they get little crystal like bumps on the surface. When I rub the crystals in between my fingers they melt down but they are definitely a harder substance from the rest of the balm. I hold these heated oils at 120-140 degrees for half an hour usually but still have these bumps. I noticed in an older one the whole thing went grainy. Also making my body butter I’ve found I have to hold the oils at heat like an hour and then filter them or it gets grainy. I do use the yellow unrefined Shea and Cocoa a lot. It’s just crazy to me that it’s such a long process and I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong.😑?? Help???

Thanks for showing us how it’s done. Do you ever run into melting issues during shipping in the summer months?

I absolutely love watching you make the soapy things; it's wonderful. Just one thing, though (it's not a complaint, just an observation) , well maybe two things: the title on the video says recipe and this is more a guide and list of ingredients. Also, you stated there's candelilla wax in them but the website lists beeswax. Oh, and you keep mentioning something that sounds sort of like "oranja"? I have no idea what the word actually is, obviously, so I'm very interested to know what the ingredient is (can't find anything like it in the ingredients list) because although I'm American, I've been living in Australia for fifteenish years so sometimes I hear words that warp somewhere between my ear and brain - I think it's due to the different accents I hear daily lol. I'm married to an Aussie and also have friends who are immigrants from all over the world, like me😊. I hope you keep making videos after the 365 days are up - I'm new here but it's wonderful to find you.

Hey! Thanks for watching! So with this particular video, I left the scale in frame so you could see the measurements to get the recipe! In most other recipe vids I give percentages over a written out recipe so you can adjust the batch size as needed. Candelilla wax and beeswax are interchangeable in this recipe - whatever you would prefer or can get your hands on. And the funny sounding oil is karanja - I talk about it more in depth in my beard oil video, as well as one of the shampoo videos. It’s neem oil’s kid sister - does great things for skin and hair without the super offensive odor you find in neem. Hope that helps!

Can someone please explain the percentage ratio? 20% equals what? 1 gram? 1oz? 1 tbsp?
@MrsSoapAndClay
@MrsSoapAndClay Год назад
20% of the total amount you would like to make. So if you have a container that holds 2oz and you want to make just one as a test, 20% of the 2oz. This way you can scale the recipe to the batch sizes you would like.

Hi Soap & Clay, from the research that I have been doing kaolin clay helps to absorb excess oil. Could I sub out the arrow root powder in this recipe with kaolin clay?

Sure! I’m always a fan of clays.

Being in Canada it's not easy to find karanja oil or broccoli seed oil. I found a place to buy it relatively cheap in the states but the shipping was 56-150 bucks for a 15$ product 😲. What would you suggest as good replacements for those oils? I put Hemp oil into everything I make as well.
@MrsSoapAndClay
@MrsSoapAndClay 3 года назад
Broccoli seed can be any mid to lightweight oil. Neem is the closest substitute for karanja.

@@MrsSoapAndClay great thanks so much! Neem I can find in Canada had to switch that out in the bully bars. I'll see if I can't poke some of the Canadian suppliers I use to try and carry some of the more lesser known oils.

Hey! I don’t know on this specific vid, but good extracts for beards are buckthorn, nettle, and bamboo

A) it’s in the description. 2) I talk about it all in the video. C) I leave the scale in frame so you can see it. 4) you’re welcome for something I didn’t have to give you for free.
