I have a personal playlist called “Words for Life,” to encourage my mind and heart to dwell on the deep truths of God, especially as fighting indwelling sin; this video will be added. This is indeed one of the harder truths to believe, especially these days. We live in a world where perfectionism, in greater society, is implicitly demanded and failure as unredeemable. We sometimes believe that Christians walk on a higher plane, or assume our fellow brethren do the same, after justification. However, Piper reminds us well of the Great War on sin, the promised victory, but also, balancing expectations that we are going to have some defeats. Yet, Christ is faithful, and holds promises for today. I also recommend JC Ryle’s book, “Holiness,” which is very encouraging, readable, yet deep.

Why am I a Christian? Sometimes I don’t know where this dirty road is taking me and I never can be sure of the reasons why. One time friends, I had a ma and I even had a pa. I came of age, and it was all downhill from there. I found a girl who I thought loved me, she cleaned me out and headed on the sly. I’ve been in a prison without walls or bars or guards. But now I’m out of prison, I’ve got me a friend to last. He doesn’t drink or cheat or steal and never lies. I tell him everything, and he has promised that no matter what happens, knowing me he’d never deny. Life is fleeting. It just seems easier to believe, than just waiting around to die.
Let your hunger and passion for the Holy One be rekindled by the inebriating knowledge that the Holy One is hungry and passionate for you-His friend, His beloved, His Eternal Bride. Realizing just how much God has been pursuing us will reinvigorate our pursuit of God through holy living, loving our neighbors, exploring the Bible, and worshipping our Lord in song, service, and sacrifice. Jesus died for us so the least we can do is live for Him! Ask for the Spirit to empower and impassion you to serve the Lord with gladness, faithfulness, and effectiveness, and He will :)

According to Holy Scripture and confirmed by the Holy Spirit, God desires no man to perish but for ALL to be saved-that includes you, Marcus. But what we also know from these two eternal Divine Gifts is that sin/evil has no place in God or His Bride (the Church), and that the Grace of Jesus is the only remedy for personal sin and human evil, yet our ongoing salvation journey via sanctification requires our continual submission to the Spirit of God, our cooperating with His Grace to root out all remaining sin/evil in our hearts, minds, and wills. Therefore, God wants to, and will, expel any residual perversion/corruption from His Body (the Church-you, me, and all other born-again believers) which is a work of divine grace that God invites each of us to participate in as co-ministers with Christ. And as God continues His work of grace within us, He gives us His sensitivity and revulsion toward sin/evil, especially that wickedness lurking within our lives. (Perhaps what you are feeling is not God’s revulsion with you, but really God communicating His revulsion of sin within you. Maybe, what God truly desires, is for both you and Him together to vomit unrepentant, deep-seated, sin/evil out of your life. Don’t hide any sin/corruption from His Presence. God wants to burn that darkness up with His Light, not you. He wants to clothe you in His marvelous Light, but that requires you to expose yourself spiritually to Him by throwing off the filthy rags of your flesh at the feet of the Cross of Christ. You must willingly cast those sins/fears/desires on the Cross and lay them on the altar to be consumed by the purifying fire of God. Yet, anyone, whether believer or not, who holds tightly to themselves rather than Jesus will be consumed by holy fire. That is to say, God will vomit us out of Himself if we are more interested in sin and committed to evil than to His Goodness and Love. It is indeed God’s good pleasure to give us the Kingdom, but not if we seek to find our highest pleasure and build our own kingdom a part from Him.) Yet, not only does God grant us hatred of evil, He also imparts to us the passion/will to fight evil and the spiritual power to overcome evil, in Jesus Name. However, we will only experience victory over evil/sin to the degree we surrender ourselves to the Holy Spirit, deny our flesh in obedience to the Word, and deepen our satisfaction in God. Remember, as revealed to Paul the Apostle, God’s grace is sufficient for you, and, He Who began the good work within you is faithful to bring it to completion.
