Season 5 Episode 7 "The Itch"
An agoraphobic man (Todd Louiso) falls ill and refuses to leave his home to be treated at the hospital. Therefore, House and the team go to his home to figure out what might be wrong. Cameron takes charge of the case as she had treated the patient in the past and she and the team figure out ways to treat him at his home. However, the patient's condition worsens and it becomes difficult to treat him at his home. Meanwhile, Cameron and Chase attempt to work through issues in their relationship.

I remember when I worked maintenance at Toy's R' Us and accidentally created chlorine gas by accident. I was pouring out bleach from a bucket into a drain, when a coworker dumped ammonia into the same drain, created one hell of a cloud. We had to evacuate the closet and bathrooms for hours. Got paid overtime, so all in all, not a bad day.

I was a janitor at Burger King for four summers. While I was away at college some jagoff tried to clean the floors with a half-bottle of bleach and half-bottle of ammonia. I returned four months later to find ALL my cleaning agents, even the Windex, under lock and key and accessable only by managers. Educate, don't legislate.

Not necessarily. He'd wind up like a dog chasing its tail in circles if he didn't give her that ultimatum. He would have suffered because Cameron wasn't being clear about what she feels, what she wants when chase has attempted several times to communicate. I'd say Cameron is far worse for leading a guy on which will essentially cause more heartbreak to the person chasing. Loving someone else doesn't mean putting yourself off, especially if the person you love isn't showing the same commitment as you are. People get tired of loving, not because they don't have love anymore, but because the person you have love for, isn't giving you a reason to anymore. You want love to be reciprocal and not doubted all the time like how Cameron is most of the time. Disclaimer: it's been years since I last saw House MD so my timeline is a bit blurry, but my stance is based on my memory of Cameron having 2nd thoughts about her own relationship with Chase.

Not saying that isn't a good idea but true phobias take more than just a "get up and go" attitude. Doctors use exposure therapy where a patient actually confronts their fear in a fairly controlled environment. The thing with a phobia suffering patient (of course, depending on the severity) is that if they do it without preparation and precaution they can actually be a physical danger to themselves (running into walls, hyperventilating, etc.) and may require medical assistance.

Cameron woke him up beforehand to tell him, which made a big mess. Couldn't they have just taken him in anyway this time? House had permission from a legal representative, or was he just unstable to move

@@Roddarzz Not sure if this is an actual question or just a statement. But I'll answer anyway- yes, the big deal being (at least from what I learned in lifeguard training) is that if you shock someone with the oxygen mask still on, it could go through them to the oxygen canister and ignite the whole thing, causing an explosion. I am distinctly not an expert though, so take that with a grain of salt

Chase is absolutely brutal in this clip, it's hilarious. It's completely fair for him to call her out like that, though. Cameron's asking him to perform a ridiculously unreasonable surgery for an extremely high-risk patient. Not even he would bother to touch that, so asking him was obviously about something else.

I agree, while she thinks she's "doing the right thing"" it's because she wants to feel she's doin the right thing she actually is in the end being selfish. Unlike House who doesn't have a problem doing what's right for the long term goal of a patient even if the patient dislikes it, House is trying to save the guy where a Cameron is trying to save face, save her ego do what the patient wants which is actually not always good. Cameron has a hero complex where as House while he is a hero and saves lives doesn't do it for the recognition, rather solving the puzzle/mystery of the illness which may be "selfish " to an extent but at least he unlike Cameron admits this.

Blaise Moffa It’s either because the writers don’t research/consult/care enough and they shock a patient because “that’s what all other medical dramas do” or they add the shocking in spite of knowing not all rhythms are shockable because they want to add drama. Medical shows aren’t that well known for their incredible accuracy anyway, so you could sort of suspend your disbelief

@@MalakianM2S I think what he wanted to convey is that they need less compassion and more rationality. Good example is that today it is enough for a kid to say that he/she doesn't feel like he/she is a he/she and feels like opposite gender. Do it few times and psychologist will advise surgery that will change the rest of your life (which most recipients regret) instead of being rational and caring about your health, they are being compassionate and empathetic to how you feel. Doctors don't need empathy to do anything they can to help you, that is their career, that is their job. It is friends/family job to be empathetic.

Too many people are suffering mental illness. PTSD, anxiety, and many other disorders. The raw truth just may be the medicine required to reach the people locked away from social settings. The character of House and the disposition delivers much more than diagnostics and medicine. House was the best medical drama and still is. This series set the bar.

Cameron never fails to show the problems of ideology, universal ethics and morality. What's generally good or good in a particular situation is not necessarily always good and sometimes pretty much the worst thing ya could do. Typically a hyper ethical doctor is exactly what ya want til there's an off label use for a drug that they won't give ya or they let your mental health interfere with treatment. If everything is always universal then context is lost and material conditions go unaccounted for. US style "democracy" is fine in an egalitarian culture with educated people, not so great in a town full of bigots. Violence is NEVER the answer UNLESS it's in self-defense. Killing the one healthy guy in the waiting room to harvest his organs and save a half dozen or so lives in the hospital does the most good but is obviously a problem. There are no universals or absolutes beyond that which can be demonstrated to be so. Morals and ideology almost always fail to provide that nuance while requiring universal application. Fun.

Just watched Last Week Tonight with John Oliver's episode on EMS and how a trip to the hospital can cost over $3000 when an Uber will suffice. Seems to me being treated at home by doctors would cost more though. All I know about the U.S. healthcare system is that it is messed up and insanely expensive.

I've been sick a couple of times in my life. Ambulance to hospital sick. I have certain weird phobias as well. Weirdly, if you're really in enough pain, you don't care where you are, or what anyone does to you. All you know is pain, and wanting it to stop.

Its standard procedure to move the patient to a solid surface so the chest compressions actually work. Anyone who has taken the most basic CPR course knows that. That being said, I can see how someone would make that mistake if they had zero training.
