I have often created literal mouth agape shock with my military sense of humor. It's an easy way to find the veterans in the room. They're laughing too while the civs are confused. It's hilarious because we're all sick bastards.
Funniest shit happened when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton. I was doing a mountain ridge run for morning PT with other Marines and a freaking bush lifted up from the right side ditch and high crawled to the left side ditch! As we passed, one of the 10 bushes low crawling through the ditch rolled over, looked at us and said "you guys suck". Ridge runs always winded me but I still laughed my ass off when that bush talked to us! Poor damn bastard. Lol
Essentially you’re right. Recon isn’t part of SOCOM, but has many of the same capabilities. Back when SOCOM was being created they asked for Force Recon to join, but the Corps said 1) We can’t give them up 2) We don’t need your Special because ALL of us are special 3)We don’t want Marines in this outside command. So all the other branches sent dudes to SOCOM and the Corps kept Recon.
@@EssayonsMofo Yup. They petty much took 2nd Recon and made it 2nd MARSOC if my understanding is correct. Nick Koumalatsos had a video on it, since he was Recon and then MARSOC. I am neither, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
@@Galacalactus I've seen the whole thing, there was a point in time where I was like "yo I wanna do this so I'm gonna do as much research as possible" so I've pretty much watched anything and everything regarding the topic 🤣 here I am now going army so you see how that went
@@EssayonsMofo I was like that as well. Everyone thinks they’re about the special operations stuff until they actually have to do it. In hindsight, I’m glad. I would t have been the right person for Recon or MARSOC, and it would have been a waste of my time and theirs. Besides, I’ve realized that being a Combat Engineer is enough suck for me. I have known several people who have tried out for Recon and MARSOC. I definitely respect those willing to come clean about why they didn’t make it in, but sadly I’ve also known others unwilling to do this. Bragging constantly about how they ‘almost made it’ and making up BS stories about why they didn’t is kinda hilarious.
Can we get a video explaining your experiences? Like what you did in the military, like the different training you had, and it would also be cool to know what you did after you got out.
recon was basically the marine corps special operation teams, they didnt want to have to be under JSOC command but in 2007 they made MARSOC and which would fall under JSOC. A lot of recon guys went to MARSOC when it was started because they wanted the missions and shit.
Man I respect and love your content. I’ve shown my parents your skits of the branches (they both served in the navy) and I died seeing their faces. Keep up the amazing work and thank you.
About two years ago when I was in the Marine Corps I was the company RO for a sniper company, and when I say night shoots are Fuckin bullshit they are soooo Fuckin lame and I didn’t even have to do the dumb shit. I felt for those homies. Keep up the amazing videos homie you are killing it! ❤️
@@reaperx1236 it’s like 80% hurry up and wait, 5% actually shooting and 15% prep and clean up. It’s boring honestly. It was cool the first couple of times but then it’s lame afterwards
Barrett is easy to shoot. The buffer system in them is amazing. It basically has no recoil (for a .50). Now the McMillan Tac-50 kicks (and gets me hard). And why the stash? Because we like to belligerently barely stay within regs.
I have never been in the military, but I love someone who is, so I love your videos. They make me feel like I can relate to him more. You are funny af too. 😘
I am a retired Force Recon ( I still have many friends kicking in Doors 🥷🏾) And yes correct we are special operations capable. Marine Raiders are a part of SOCOM . But there is a caveat as always Recon and Force Reconn are requested by SOCOM units and are attached to them from time to time. As no one dose reconnaissance and surveillance better than we do FACT. GUNNY
Marine Recon is to Rangers as Force Recon is to Army SF. RECON were and are SOC, but Force Recon (has) always been the special operations force for the Marine Corps. It was only in 2004 that the Marine Corps officially stood up a unit with SOCOM with the formation of MARSOC. This was after 40 or so of the top force reconnaissance Marines were attached to a joint task force designated as detachment 1 (DET1). Under MARSOC, there were two units; MSOB and the FMTU. Simply Marine Special Operations Battalion and the Foreign Military Training Unit. This is as it was when I left the corps in 08. Since then, the title of Marine Raider has been brought back, but I'm not sure if that is all of MARSOC now and/or if they did away with the FMTU. Force Recon were popping their boonies out of the water at night before any SEALs were swimming in their daddies ball sacks. SOC my ass.
MORE LIKE RECON IS =TO LRS, Force Recon= to Rangers. Force Recon is High speed but NOT SF...MAYBE SINCE SF DESIGNED THEM, YOU COULD COMPARE RAIDERS TO SF.
@@beachbrettf absolutely yes! Force Recon is NOT capable nor trained to conduct SF "missions" They're definitely high speed but NO NOT SPECIAL FORCES EQUIVALENT.
@@tickles5289 Are you a Marine? Or veteran at all? Did you deploy to combat? Did you do joint training with DET1, recon, force recon, seal teams 3 and 5, and also some joint training with army SF in Okinawa? Because I did. Force Reconnaissance and the Raiders are the same tier as the seal teams, and army SF.
I'm not into guns, let alone the military, but your dumbed down explanations make me appreciate the science and art behind it. Your commentary and personality is greatly appreciated.
Back when I was in MCT I saw a recon sniper running to the head in a gillie suit. made me wish I changed my MOS on the spot. He had all the nice new gear.
@Niko Ortiz love your shit, dude, especially your shorts. Having been to Iraq and Afghanistan as an 0311 I love the way you make the Marine communicate with "Rah-Rah!" My biddy was a Marine Cook and he said he loved hanging out with grunts cause we communicate a lot with "Errr"
When I was in, I got out in ‘14 and graduated 3/2 scout sniper indoc in ‘12. I didn’t get the official school like this… however, Recon was “special operations capable” but Force Recon was considered special operations until MARSOC then they changed it again lol
jeez... i remember filling sand bags for 12 hours when i had my article 15 had them nicely stacked for legit defense only to be told to take it down we are getting concrete barriers delivered. x_x
19:35 no no no. Tarkov is taking "bad ammo" in and shooting a Mf'r 12 times in the chest and getting slapped by a civilian (scav) in the corner with birdshot
Funnies shit I ever heard in basic was "Moving fungi get shot first!" after one of us put a giant mushroom on his helmet the Sarge turned around and there was a guy with a 2 foot grass on his helmet, the kind that looks like wheat in green, it moved a shit ton with every little head movement. "You know what, stay with him and you're good!"
Yea they were using the Ballistic Kestral. It comes pre programmed with a bunch of different round types and weapon systems, plus you can put in your own
Man I love how you give shit about all branches but still respect, my father was in the coast guard for 22 years with a couple haunting stories, my grandfather was drafted into the army but joined the Air Force (sorry), my great uncle was in the Air Force but until a few years ago everything was classified all we knew was that he armed bombs to drop and last I know it’s not a branch but he still did his part, my grandfather was in the merchant marines and help the navy during war.
"You ever walk 23 miles to look at an empty intersection then walk home?" No I can't say I have actually. That's something I've kinda wondered about sniper units is how far they usually end up going on foot since you know they are supposed to be sneaky and shit.
Jocko interviewed a seal sniper and they said they could never give ranges on far they operated but "it was over the horizon". I have no fucking clue how far that is but sounds amazing.
Dude , Black Rifle Coffees Marty who did this video , a Special operations bad ass veteran had some bad ass videos like this, my favorite is “Embedding with Special Operations in Afghanistan”. He’s the first “anyone” to be able to dmbed with a special operations unit on a mountain too in the Spin ghars. Being recent Special Forces I think he got that amazing opportunity knowing the community . He car hops all over the Middle East , takes a taxi to BFE gets picked up by Afghani Special Operations MI helo and dropped on a mountain top. Ive never seen a. More bad ass group of bros than this team up there. The team leader had told him if he came he’s gotta keep up because they never stop and then asked him if the shit hits the fan he points out some of the positioned rifles and long guns and told him to jump on in if things go South!?? The gunfight they get in from another mountaintop while their JTAC Walks in hell from an F18 and Apache gunship while the entire team is lighting up the Taliban thousands of feet below as they are ambushing a convoy. Check it out!
0321’s were the closest thing to SF marines had for awhile.. but now we got marsoc, where a lot of 0321’s end up… pretty dope, some salty, gritty bois for sure.. everybody fucks with raider gang 🤙
I grow up as a military brat. I had no idea there was like a military RU-vidrs. But I love it so much me and my dad who has been in the military for almost 25 years and is about to retire watches and we absolutely enjoy your videos. It drives him crazy because I call you hot 🥵
HAHAHA I LOVE these damn videos!! Especially your navy character! I myself was 8404 DOC navy. 3 tours baby! None of that bullshit ship stuff. Never even seen a ship!
Whats awesome about night shooting is, showing up at a reasonable time to shoot at night instead of showing up at 0600 to shoot during the day and wait for night fall after.
What he wrote down was most likley corrections on horizontal and vertical for distances. maybe wind or mirage formulas as well as body measurement formulas. i had mine taped with clear tape to the buttstock.
The ability to have 1000s of rounds for training per day is something the younger kids won't appreciate until they have been out for a couple years and want to continue to shoot guns for fun! Dropping 1000s on ammo! Thanks Brandon!!!
Never been military but done some work for you guys to get Deployed and Surprised the army doesn’t have an agriculture branch! But dang nothing better then hitting hogs at 5 to 600 yards shoots and Hearing them scream or roll!
