I like the way you were able to pop the pivot off of the jack screw. We have ScoutCrafter red and TD blue. I'm feeling pressure to pick a 357magdad color! LOL
Hello TD- Another beautiful restoration!!! We don't see many Record clamps on this side of the pond so it was a real treat to see you restore this one! Thanks very much!!! 😃👍
Record tools were really high quality back in the day. Made in Sheffield, England from Sheffield steel. My Record No: 23 vice is as good now as it was when it left the factory. Although the Record brand is still alive, it's been absorbed by Irwin who mass produce their tools somewhere in the Far East - to the detriment of quality IMO.
This video came at a good time - I have a similar clamp (I think it's a 6") that I need to do the same thing to. I also had no idea the pivot could come off - today I learned! Great video and beautiful result.
TD, you deserve far more views. Sent by Scoutcrafter and 357 magdad and trust their recommendations therefore subscribed immediately. I used to live and work in Sheffield opposite the Record factory and the forging hammers shook our building all day. You seem to have the exact roundell blue colour for Record, where did you get it?
Hi mate. Thanks for your kind words👍🏻and indeed that is Roundel Blue, as close to the original as you can get www.riolettcustomaerosols.co.uk/products/british-standard-colour-roundel-blue-110-aerosol-spray-paint/
