I was quite a decent breaker when I was 13. The Smurf & the Indian step were my signature moves..although tbh think i was allowed in my local 'posse' because I had a huge ghetto blaster called a Hitachi Superwoofer...it took 16 batteries which lasted about an hour, not even my paper round covered the outlay! That Bang sounds interesting, will give that astream.
Lmao, 16 batteries per hour! I use to see those It looked like they had to use a crane to put them on your shoulder. If you have back issues definitely blame the boom box. I have no flexibility, I have never touched my toes. Trainers in college tried to loosen me up to no avail. I did TKD for 12 years, I came very close to touching me toes but alas 1/2 inch short sigh. Breaking and me would have meant me breaking, physically and heading to the hospital lol. It was a fun sport to watch and the Canadian was amazing
The covers almost always tell us the music is going to be good! Digging that’s Southside Movement! What did the guy say when he had to leave the Cajun party early? You can stay, Zydego. 😂 Have a great week Steve! ✌🏽
Well thank you for watching and thank you for your cool label. Michael has passed along a few of the albums you label puts out and they all have been excellent. My hope is to play some samples and interest everyone else in something new and enjoyable. Thank you for watching. Michael is an incredible friend
One of my UK commenters was telling me about it. And now you’re going back to celebrate your 70th, good for you. I love the UK and hope to go back soon. Already warned my wife I have a lot of people I want to meet lol. She was not thrilled My greatest joy is meeting others. People keep threatening to come see me, we will see
You’re so good at describing the music! Your music room is coming together nicely too. I do miss seeing cat interrupting you 😊. I’ve enjoyed watching the track highlights from the Olympics, amazing moments. Great summer records, beach wood sparks sound so good!! Gotta look for it now 😊
Hi Monica, yeah Kat always added something unexpected to each show. Not going to do it again though, hated trying to figure out what to do with the pets when you want to go somewhere. My music room is almost done except I want to have some photos made but have been too lazy to get it done yet! Then I can do a room tour! Always a pleasure to hear from you Monnie
I feel most channels are lacking in showing giraffes. I am trying to rectify that sin Brian. Doing my part to make the VC a better place. I am also having a hard time understanding in your 20,000 albums you have no Italian punk, I am stunned!
Wow....just wow....thank you loads for recommending Beachwood Sparks.... DEFINITELY Byrds influence and vibe for sure... It's my day off today and what a perfect time to dig into their material! Thanks again so much...
That is fantastic, I am glad you loved what you heard. That’s why I love adding a sample, it speaks louder than anything I can say. I hope you find some of their music, it is wonderful stuff. Thank you for watching and commenting
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Of course, absolutely! Have you checked out a group called "The Cotton Blossoms"? Give them a listen when you have time. My first introduction to them was their song "Desperado"
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Oh Yeah, absolutely!! Have you heard of The Cactus Blossoms? Check them out when you have time. My first introduction to them was "Desperado". I think you'll like them. Hollow Coves is another duo worth checking out too.
I went to Harvest maybe 10 years ago in November. We were spending a couple of nights at that huge palace to see all the Xmas decorations. I was recommended by Dillon at Noble Records to go to Harvest. I found some incredible items there.
Hi Steve, I liked the sample of Ibibio Sound Machine. The Southside Movement puts the Bay City Rollers to shame with that album cover! Kudos to you for exploring the new digs and taking us along in your intros. Have a good week, thanks.
Ralph, glad you enjoy the intros, when the work slows down I will have a lot more time to explore and hopefully enjoy my surroundings. I will try another IBibio Sound Machine, a different take on African music which really appealed to me. Plaid was special Ralph but it didn’t last long long thank god. Polyester took over haha
Love that Southside Movement. The Bang! needle drop sounded great. Buckle up, buttercup. 🤣 I used to breakdance when I was a teenager. Probably very poorly. Have a great week, Steve
Mark, even when I was young I had extremely poor flexibility. It would have been sad to see me try. Disco was the rage in my late teen years. That was also scary to see. Lol
Got a couple weeks to catch up on with my favorite Mr. Carlson. I once fed the giraffes at the Santa Barbara zoo. Even though I am not a little kid anymore, the zoo is still an awesome place to visit. I never get tired of it. I dont have much to comment on this particular set of albums but one thing I would love to share with you since you introduced me to The Struts. So while I cant get their album as it’s out of stock. And yes thank you again Mr. Carlson for teasing me with that. I did just pick up two tickets to see them live in LA. Very much looking forward to that concert. Thanks for the terrific video Mr. Carlson. Hope you had a couple of terrific weeks since I’ve seen your videos.
My wife fed a giraffe last year, she was like a little kid. We still visits zoos wherever we can find them. I bet that Strutd concert will be outstanding. And they just may sell some of their music there! Win win for you!
Hello Steve; Time to train the Grandson to say Early Morning Show. Andy Warhol the man who gave us the Campbell's soup can. Bang, The Damned would be proud. Strong influence. Ibibio, Gary Numan synth sound. South Side Movement, the urban edition of KC & the Sunshine Band playing funk. Take care Tina & Pat!~
Tina and Pat, it will be very exciting when I can get Aiden to do an intro, that would be awesome! The Gluts inspired by the Damn, good call as always, it is definitely there. That was a huge surprise album for me that I still can’t file away.
Yes, lots of different kinds of albums this week! Very cool! I’m happy that you dug the Beachwood Sparks album! Was that the Cheyenne Rocky Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs? I love that zoo!
Yes that was Cheyenne Zoo, it had not rained in weeks until we got to the zoo, then it rained a lot and this had to buy expensive zoo umbrellas! Beachwood Sparks was wonderful!
Mike, it is always a mixed bag with me lol. Bang was amazing I just bought another album by them. Hard to get their albums in the US. Too funny on Warhol, 100s of pictures of him and that is what they choose, it just doesn’t make sense Mike. Maybe Warhol liked it !
Steve, cool watch the Rockies. It’s about the ballpark vibes. Cool clip of Aiden! He’s growing up fast. Nice zoo footage, Stacy said look all your friends are on tv. Animals are always drawn to me. I like that South Side Movement. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman
The game was great, nice to spend time with the whole family. South Side was some fun funk from a band that was too deep into plaid. Maybe that is what killed them haha.
Emma, is it back to school for you now! I lose my last college kid this week at work. I am glad you enjoyed what you heard. I try to keep it eclectic in hopes of turning people on to something different. It is wonderful to hear from you.
The Glutz sounded great. Wow, that really was an eclectic mix of records. I have a couple of Beachwood Sparks albums. I wonoder if they modeled their band name after The Zombies' "Beechwood Park". Thanks for showing the records - hope you have a great week!
Beachwood Sparks is the intersection of two streets were one of the band members lived Randy. Fun fact for you! The Gluts blew me away, that has been spinning a lot when I’m not falling asleep lol.
Good morning Steve! I have zero Italian punk but do have some Italian Prog Rock 😂 Cool Beachwood Sparks record their debut is on my want list 🔥Take care Brian ☮️
Brian, I need to check out some more of the Beachwood Sparks album. It really was quite beautiful as you know. Another group I really had no idea about Curation Records puts out some very good music
Thank you Mark, I appreciate that info. It is interesting to get an album from a band that was very much appreciated overseas but not so much in the US. Kind of like the blues in the 60s
Stop it, Steve! You keep coming up with these cracking Fuzz Club records, and you know I am a man with very little willpower! Beechwood Sparks are nice but somehow don't quite grab me. I hear Bibio on the radio quite often. Interesting sound. The Southside Movement sound great fun. Likewise Al Rapone! Great mix, Steve
You and me both Andy when it comes to Will Power. Some things you just got to have! Bibio has not hit it in the US, not what a lot of people want but I love the African touches in the album. Sorry Andy, but more fuzz club is coming
A galloping giraffe!! Great Warhol cup. I only go to the Australian Rules Football for the great and "reasonably priced" food too Mike. Bang! indeed! I have the Tarnished Gold album by Beachwood Sparks. Great record but didn't stay in touch. Uyai...I like. There's always one guy that doesn't turn up in the plaid! Smooth soul though. I can honestly say Mike that Zydeco is a complete mystery to me. All I know about it is the name and I think accordions are involved....yep your sample confirmed that. Cheers...Mike
Mike, have you ever noticed there is a lack of galloping giraffes in the VC. Not sure why more people aren’t filming them? The Gluts were a definite winner this week for me Mike, that thing keeps rocking hard. Just got in a second album from them, I think I’m going to start an Italian punk coll3ction now! I have seen albums for accordion bands. A dozen people playing together the latest hits ( from 50 years ago) on accordion. I could never put myself through that kind of torture. Zydeco though, pure joy and all you need is an accordion and a washboard and away you go! Enjoy your week Mike
Good morning Steve, only Olympics event I watched was some of the breakdancing. A guy from my city won gold in that yesterday. Yeah I could do that, probably only once though and then I'd be in traction haha. I had no idea it was still going on until getting back into and researching more about hiphop last year for the 50th anniversary. Thought I had the South Side Movement one but apparently not. I do remember looking at it, I was picking up a few obscure funk albums that got reissued around then but seems I did not pull the trigger on that. Should have called themselves Plaid Overload lol. Ibibio Sound Machine sound like they would be fun live. Yeah going to SF with an accordion probably isn't going to work out, think I have a Queen Ida record. Giraffes in the back yard might not be a bad idea, they'd probably keep the trees trimmed. Have a good week Steve
That Canadian breakdancer was incredible. I don’t know much about the moves but he was so athletic. He deserved that gold. Plaid Overload, lol, that is an excellent name Doug. Even one of my Scottish viewers said he doesn’t wear that much plaid.
Beachwood Sparks sounds very cool. Bang and All Capone as well. You might want to clothes the blinds in case you get carried away with your dance moves
lol, that old guy is jumping around again! Glad you enjoyed the samples, some real great music keeps coming out, it’s just to find it. I have a lot of people like you who keep recommending me stuff and sending me down another expensive rabbit hole lol.
Steve, when will you reveal the true nature of your move to CO - assuming the role of President/CEO/Overlord of Vinyl Me Please? It's time for the Scooby Doo reveal here, "Pool Guy"! 🤣 Kidding aside, that South Side Movement album sounds right up my alley, thanks!
The plaid inspired South Side was very cool, made me long for the days of plaid and wishfully hope for a resurgence. Maybe even leisure suits could make a come back. I still have a lot of money to get rid of with VMP, not easy to find something I want Chance.
Italian punk? Sounds interesting, I will definitely check out Bang. I've seen the Beachwood Sparks albums around, just never picked one up, but now you have me curious, the sample sounded pretty good. As always, a nice selection of records Steve, hope your week is a good one.
Michael, my purpose in the VC is to entice you with something new and a little different! I am real certain Beacheood Sparks would go great with some of those gummies my friend.
Accordian is great instrument. Al Capone might be happy music but in Finland... well we have it at least on metal band. And of course our humppa band Eläkeläiset. ;) mr. Finglish (Bädn Eglish Recs)
Have to look at some of those records more listening time after the olympics but there is one more game to see Germany against Denmark in mens handball and the Germany coach is Icelandic, tho have to see it later as we are taking the grandkids to the familypark now. Iceland had 3 handball coaches Croatia mens and Norway womens team who now already got the gold and the Germany fighting for the gold. All other Icelanders did realy good also. Do you look at handball ?
I really got into handball! That was pretty exciting sport, very fast paced and super cool strategy. It was fun to be able to watch all these events at work and then at home but talk about getting consumed haha. I do need a break now
Dang Jeff, you working the night shift lol. I would bet The Gluts will do some more represses of Bang. I was trying to get some of their back catalog but I would have to buy from Europe which is a killer
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Nice one, which one did you get? Because they're not that well known they only do small release runs which makes them harder to find. Glad to have recommended something you've enjoyed.
Wanna Be Steve, I agree, just let the music take you away and screw what people think haha. When I get locked up please don’t forget to write! Al Rapone, kind of sad how most of his music can be found in Europe but not in the US. Kind of like how we did not support the blues in the 60s. Enjoy your week- Wannabe Mike
Great show this week, Professor! Gonna check out ALL of these, I liked what I heard from all of them. Already know South Side Movement, by reputation. I will pay you a bounty for a photo of teenage you wearing plaid bellbottom pants that I can spread all over the interwebs, ROTFL! I smell a ton of "Carlson Memes" spreading EVERYWHERE! Plaid was too dominant in the 1970s, never have liked it, never will. You are learning....keep the download cards...always keep them and use them...Back to the first group - are you a Maneskin fan at all? They've been very successful here, despite the fact that some of their stuff is also in Italian. As for the Olympics, the only thing I watched this year was the Mens Skate comps - super stoked that we got silver in both Street and Park! Woo Hoo! Now explain to me why it took FIFTY YEARS for Skateboarding to become an Olympic sport? So totally not fair....have a great week, my friend!
WHAT? You are checking out everything I showed? What did I do wrong? Am I now buying music that appeals to the masses? This is earth shattering TC lol. I am pretty sure I have a school picture packed up somewhere with a plaid leisure jacket and hair that almost covers my ears lol. TC I have never heard of Maneskin. I just listened to some samples of them, they sound like an American rock band, I would never have known they were Italian. I will have to try some more of their music. All that plaid brought back some frightful fashion memories. Haha
The skateboarding was interesting. They have had to find sports that appeal to a wider range of young people to maintain their relevance which is a good thing.
lol no I did not go to that one. Rockies did have a great 8th inning comeback though. I do miss my Tigers. Women’s basketball was a nail biter, won it by a foot, a foot that fell into 2 point range!
