I find that RSD Black Friday's lists never really appeal to me, and this one is no exception. There are some decent releases on this list, but nothing that is making me want to stand in line shortly after Thanksgiving.

I wold love to get a copy too I am not going to pay $40 in store or 3 to 7 days later $70+ on Ebay. I hardly every pay more then $8 for any record 2 years when I stopped Milwaukee I went to Lilliput Records at the time it had a different name and the had a location in Green Bay too. I got 2 Mariah Carey albums Devin The Dude album one more album I can not remember I payed like $22 to $23 pre album. If I would got these albums off ebay I would payed $12 to $20 more each off Ebay.

Yep the ONLY one I care about getting. BUT it will be an 'RSD First', so that means it'll get a wider release afterwards. NO WAY am I going and waiting on line for that ONE album that I know will come out again in less than a years time, and be cheaper.

I should mention they are reissuing a small footnote to record collecting history. The scene in High Fidelity where Jack Black is taking the customer around the store giving him albums to buy, the customer was looking for the Killing Moon EP by Echo and the Bunnyman and Jack’s character goes off about how people who got rid of their vinyl collections can’t own this anymore. This scene and the records talked about meant a lot to me as I was just starting to collect. I went to Amoeba the next day and found that EP. It’s still in my collection and this is the first time it’s been reissued.

Thanks for pointing out that Billie album is an isolated vocals version of HMHAS, I totally overlooked it as another variant of the album but am now considering getting it because of how much I enjoy her vocals 🤘🤘

I would be stoked for that as well, but I paid over $100 for the og about a year and a half ago. I am NOT doing that again, seems to happen more often than not lately!

Better Than Ezra - beyond excited for this. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be on the Australian Black Friday RSD list so might need to pay overs and import from America. But totally the pick for me.

I don’t own a shop but I’ve been working in them since 1979. A fairly lackluster list. I find several of the titles to be unnecessary and others to be totally out of touch with what people want. I agree with your comment about some releases being “insulting”. Having said that, Helmet / Betty might be of personal interest.

Excited about the BTE, but that’s about it. I miss the first time on vinyl releases of 80s and 90s soundtracks that we used to get every RSD about 5 years ago. I used to skip to the Various Artist section to see stuff like I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Facility and Cable Guy soundtracks. Not seeing that anymore =/

Majority of the list is RSD first which just means that these albums will be released at a later date, not worth the hassle & over inflated prices. Now of course I will still go because it's a fun day & of course I will purchase something.😁

Excited for Better Than Ezra and Scarlet... as someone who bought the first run of that live RATM album (on RSD thinking it'd be something special), it's disappointing to see they're running it again and also... just why? lol

Spot on... no argument with your thoughts on the list. Personally, I thought the list was underwhelming, but your comments will have me looking at it again. Thoughts on the inclusion of the Hi-Fidelity OST? That did catch my eye...

I always temper expectations for the RSDBF list, as it's always been kind of a "bonus" type of event. It does feel like this list had fewer gimmicky releases than previous lists and reissuing long out of print titles is a trend in the right direction. I hope that continues. But for my personal tastes, not much here that moved the needle. Glad to see King Missile is finally getting released, though I imagine me and maybe 5 other people care, sadly...

I’m most excited about Better Than Ezra, as I missed out on the self release the band did via PledgeMusic back in 2018. Wanted to point out, though, that it is an RSD First release, so if you miss out on the day, it will be available again down the road. This is something the label putting it out, Real Gone Music, almost always does with their releases. This one is going to be pressed on “Grape” colored vinyl, and will be limited to only 2000 copies. So if you really want THIS particular pressing, get there early for it. Otherwise, you’re probably looking at 3 to 6 months for it to get released again on some other color of vinyl - most likely standard Black, but possibly something else.

Thanks for the RSD recap video of "the list." I really do look forward to what you break down each time. I'm in agreement with the Better Than Ezra album - looking forward to that and putting it on the list! In addition, I'm grateful for your breakdown of the PJ live album (just two songs) and the Purple album from STP. Both - I probably would have jumped at and would have added to my wish list. BUT -everything you said makes sense. I'm curious what you think about the Gaslight Anthem one. That too is a reissue . . . is it needed? I'm not seeing it as one that can be had easily. Otherwise, I was hoping for more from this list and will keep hoping that others might still be announced. You being a Record Store owner - is that a farfetched wish? Thanks again!!

As you know I’m a sucker for live bill Evans so I’ll be grabbing that one, probably the Sahib Shihab as well. Curious about the Demoes from Joni Mitchell, I love the modest mouse so happy to see it finally on vinyl. STP U2 and YES all feel like cash grab’s. Side note, I’m always hoping to not want more than 3 releases so this list is great. Underwhelming is good for my bank account.

I already have Better Than Ezra - Deluxe, got it off Pledge Music back when it was released in 2018, but it's nice that it's getting repressed, I might pick up the RSDBF copy just because. I'll be picking up Thievery Corporation - The Richest Man In Babylon, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - Challengers Mixed and STP - Purple Rarities

The reason why there are hardly every any 70s to 90s RnB or Jazz drops for RDS they know the average age of people that hit up RDS is under 30 and they do not want these releases. This why you see a little more than half of RDS drops are Metal and Punk from 1978 to 1985.

Very weak for me, maybe weakest lineup ever. The Helmet repress has been much needed. I know there was an IVC limited one recently, but they radically changed the artwork and apparently didn't sound great. Hoping this one comes out better. Can't believe Baron is getting pressed. Not too fond of live Modest Mouse though. I normally buy all RSD Todd Rundgren, but Utopia is a strange choice. Bit niche and I'm pretty sure it still has an easily attainable repress from a few years ago.

@@nickmoss2046 I purchased an og about a year and a half ago for over 100 bucks, then of course they put out that most recent reissue. And now THIS reissue. I AM NOT spending over 100 bucks on a record ever again. That happened w/ Fiona Apple too, was reissued shortly after I paid over 100!!

Record Store Day is cool but they milk the concept to death!!! RSD is supposed to be once a year in April. Now there’s Black Friday RSD, these RSD Essentials, then they do the July drops or whatever they call it. It’s to the point where I hope there’s nothing I want lol

I’m gutted that the deluxe edition of Djo’s “Decide” is a f*king picture disc. But at least it’s an “RSD First,” so hopefully we’ll get a normal release in the future… 🫠
