I'm 33 yo. Never did music in my life, not naturally talented for it.. but decided i wanted to learn flute. Your videos are awesome! Not just for children.. I enjoy them, they are great learning tools :)
I am learning how to play the recorder as part of music at school and we are using the karate format! These videos have SAVED MY LIFE in music assignments, not only recorder but xylophone, ukelele etc! VMM makes it easy and breaks it up to learn! Thank you visual music minds! I subscribed to your channel!
It kind of bothers me that suddenly the quarter notes become half notes. I feel like this could be very confusing for kids when they are trying to master the rhythm concept. The backbeat tempo stays the same but the notes all of a sudden change value...?
I can see your point, but in practice with kids, keeping the tempo the same in both section causes a lot of problems. It's difficult for first time recorder players to play Part 1 extremely slow because that requires a lot of restraint, and it's difficult for them to play part 2 at the faster tempo because for a lot of people, this is their very first experience playing the recorder. And since it's repeat after me, the Listen portion establishes the correct interpretation anyway. Plus, I want kids to see the quarter and half notes as more of a relationship than anything tied to a specific tempo.
