Recording a Song w/ Cranborne Audio (500ADAT Rack & Camden 500 Mic Pres) 

How did that end up working for you? I'm tempted to either go Apollo x or get this but I'm not sure I could leave uad lol(I would still have a satellite).

Patrick McLaughlin I did sell my Apollo’s, but kept my purchased plugins. I’m in the same situation as you, in regards leaving the uad environment. Not sure yet what to get. It’ll be more costly to purchase the cranborne interface (taking into account filling up the spaces, even with the cranborne pre’s, which are some of the most economical/bang for money and quality). For now, I purchased a audient Sono, just to have something to record. Will be buying something next few months. I was just upset that I updated my OS for my old Mac 2011 that I use for audio recording. The issue is that I updated to Sierra, which is the last compatible OS for that model, and even though that Mac has an SSD, the system became frustratingly sluggish. The uad console app is just unusable now (some apps, like logic work ok), I was so upset, I swore I would turn my system into something less reliant on plugins and software. I have several hardware synths, mixers, and a nice mic collection. I was mainly using my Mac and uad intefaces for audio and mixing, not really VIs. I do have another MacBook Pro 2012 that works ok with Mojave. I am still seriously considering what system I will end up using. I love the uad sound and plugins.

@@elvissanchez8985 oh cool yeah I use an Apollo quad and a octopre so I have 12 inputs but I want outputs. I already use 500 and vca comp as outboard. I just don't really use tracking plugins but maybe I should. The cranborne looks great for Summing.

The 500r8 is an interface as well. The converters and clocks are definitely better than in the Apollo

@@jamesb44 You are a nice person :) I have actually got a Camden btw and yes it's extremely clean , slightly thin sounding with some mics, but amazing pre for the money :) hope you have a great day

@@MrThecarrott It’s not thin, its honest. It has a very flat frequency response with very low distortion. If you want it thicker, you have the mojo.

@@jamesb44 the mojo doesn't add thickness, but harmonics. It s very transparent and honest sounding yes. Tried it with several mics and on some sources it sounded slightly thin.
