Alright chap , lovely review. I paid £85 in England for this guitar for the van at work ,was expecting much , oh boy it’s lovely . It plays clean and dirty . God bless the USA .
Nice review. Nice playing. I like the fact that you did a verity of music styles and not just country or folk style stuff that I've seen in other reviews. I've been wanting a parlor style guitar and have considered the Recording King Dirty 30. Thanks for helping me narrow down my list.
Thanks for the great review. Parlor guitar reviews are hard to find (honest ones). Definitely buying this guitar after seeing your down to earth review picking some classy tunes. Keep it up friend and again thanks a ton. :) Happy New year Edit: not to mention you played some of my favorite tunes hahaha
I just looked up some of those other reviews of this guitar....and YOU!..are by FAR!.. the best! Both at playing..and demonstrating this guitar...I would NEVER guy one...based on the other reviews...Now..I probably will!...and Darn!..that money is supposed...to be going for something else!!...LOL.. :)
Tim, they are a heck of a lot of fun. I haven't played mine in a bit, been on a kick with a gypsy jazz guitar. I think I'll remedy that tomorrow and bring out the RK. Thanks for listening!
You have the best demo of this guitar. I'm going to buy one this weekend. If you play your RK go ahead and post it if you have time - would love to hear it again. Happy New Year!
You did a nice demo here! It's nice to hear the wide range of styles you did on that little guitar. I have an old Stetson that originally belonged to my great grandmother. It's the one good thing I own, heh heh. Take care~Stella
I love the demo good playing I have the black matte gold foil pickup model. I put Daddario Earthwood Medium strings on mine and it has a lot of character. Plugged into a Vox mini 3 it’s a nice little rig!
Marcusz c they are pretty thick the high E is 13 and the low E is 56 so that’s just mine it might be too thick actually but it’s twanging good I like it boomy and twangy
Thanks amy. I saw pokey lafarge does the same thing but he drops the tuning a step .. i think i wil try nickelwound 11 (on the thin E) first ... thanks for the info
Marcusz c yes I am my fathers side came to Ellis Island we are wooden shoes my Mom was born in Texas so I like having Dutch blood and Texas blood in me.
Found one a few weeks ago...supposedly used but was brand new for $70. I have a full size beautiful Martin and wanted a knock around small travel guitar. I love it, has the old guitar sound of days gone by. So with nice soft case it was about $110. Put different light gauge strings on it...awesome guitar and sound!
pjmuck I hope you like it. Fwiw, mine needed a little setup work--truss rod adjust, deepen the nut slots a little, and I took a file to 2 sharp fret ends. But overall, it's a fine little raw materials package.
What kind and brand strings are they?...Nice demo!...You should contact that company...They might...want you to do a demo for them...!...aside from this one. Never can tell...!
Rowlandph thank you! These are John Pease nickel wound "acoustics" (not sure what makes the acoustic other than that they're probably heavier than what a lot of folks use on "electric") Great cheap strings. I feel they really suit a guitar like this, as it's very "dry" and devoid of overtones in the first place...so these strings seem to amplify the guitar's natural characteristics, whereas the bronze strings it shipped with deaccentuated the midrange--which is where this guitar really shines.
@@vicentequezada1417 action was ok at 12th fret, but the neck was back bowed slightly making action too high at middle frets. A quarter turn straightened the neck and it plays fine now.
