Maybe it was just a single cocky FA... But even if such a rule by Swiss really exists, it's just dumb - that only creates negative coverage. If the rule is, to not film other passengers, then yeah sure, that's totally understandable and correct. But no wing view, no cabin view...

I never had any problems filming on Swiss. I have been told off by many people over the years for filming, its just something that happens I guess. Some people don't mind, some do. I just go wit the flow.

I agree with the other comments my friend...it must just have been an XXX supervisor. It only once happened to me on a swiss flight. So I asked the purser to see me. I explained my work and showed him pics of it. He apologized and gave me all freedoms provided individual FAs were ok with it.Usually pursers have a lot of freedom with this and I think you just got a silly one. I really bet it will be back to normal on your next flight:)

Even in some Cabin Crews in Indonesia, they just ask you not just to film the flight.. But also asking you for turning off your phone even its on flight mode.. And when i asked the regulation about the electronic devices, they were shutted by my question and allowed me to do it again... Pretty odd to notice that several crews did like that even camera actually is really safe to use onboard plane

He clearly meant that filming the crew isn’t allowed. I for example encourage my passengers to film the stuff we fly over. I’m sorry your experience was like this. We should fly together one day, best regards, Dominic

A great TR as usual! I think you just found the wrong F.A. That happened to me some years ago aboard an Alitalia flight. Once at ground, I sought explanations and I was told there was no ban to take pics or film outside the window. Excellent job anyway!

There's not any specific rule which forbids filming on Swiss. Just an annoying crew member. Many don't want being filmed, and not taking views of the passengers for privacy. But it's not properly explained. I had a couple of videos with no problems. In the time of mobiles it's something hard to do.

Great video! Never understand why some FAs can be on a bit of a power trip when filming in flight. Never experienced this myself (yet), but you see it every now and then here on RU-vid. If you are filming the crew without permission I can understand, but doing it now is just outrageous. Nevertheless, the views over the Alps never get boring! Regards, Brendan

I'm crew and personally love it to see people filming as I do it myself but I'm aware some fellow crew don't like it at all. I think you just had an iffy FA. Perhaps in future only full out the camera when the crew have taken to their seats as then we won't notice :)

I feel like if airlines don't allow video recording or photos to be taken of the plane (Obviously not passengers or crew) then the airline shouldn't have photos of the aircraft on social media. The airline should uphold its own policy on themselves as well.... I think that's fair imo.

Some youtubers film everyone around them without respect, which can be rude at times. May be tedious to check if you are a good youtuber, so you get a general video ban. Anyways, I like your content. Keep up the work.

I know American doesn't allow filming according per policy, but others are ok if you ask them. It's just common courtesy.

Nice video with a beautiful landscape! I'm going flight with Swiss from London to Zurich and then with Edelweiss from Zurich to Rio. I hope I'll see the Alps in one of the flights. As that will be the last part of my first international trip, I want to film everything!

I flew this route in 1960 on a SWISSAIR Metropolitan. Still remember the smoke coming out of the engines and the bag of Sugus fruit candy I got!

I flew those Metropolitans often in the mid-60's. Usually disappointed when I found out we were on one of them instead of a Caravelle, but came to appreciate them as true workhorses.

I had the same issue on a QantasLink flight - I was told it was against policy. I contacted Qantas to check if there was such a policy ... there wasn’t. You should complain to the airline and see what they say. 🧐

Hey! One half of the Globeguys is a cabin manager/trainer at a large European low cost carrier (not Ryanair) and at his carrier they are told that they cannot deny anyone filming unless they are filming the demo or security procedures. I think you just had an over zealous/paranoid crew member. I am pretty sure Swiss have a very similar 'official' policy to the large low cost carrier mentioned.

Ja klar, das filmen an Bord, mit den Passagieren auf den Sitzen, Personal etc. ist aus Datenschutzgründen in der Schweiz verboten. Aber nicht das filmen aus dem Fenster.

@@amandeuce Da weiss doch der liebe Steward nicht. Er sieht nur wie Du mit der Kamera an Bord kommst. Ergo muss er davon ausgehen das Du filmst. Als ich damals meine beiden Flüge filmte, wurde mir am Eingang gesagt, ich dürfe filmen, wenn keine Passagiere/Bordpersonal zu sehen sind. Später auf dem Flug wurde ich dann sogar von einem Steward freundlich angesprochen, was ich mit diesen Filmaufnhmen mache und sagte dann, dass ich diese zusammen schneide und auf YT hochlade. Dann sagte er "Cool" und lief weiter.

I’ve flown and fully reported on Swiss 4 times without so much as an issue, im sure the filming discrepancy is that the FA doesn’t want themself to be filmed, or inside the cabin. Otherwise I see no reason for this as I’ve never had an issue

Ich glaube, dass es kein generelles Filmverbot bei Swiss gibt, sondern du nur Pech mit der Crew hattest. Das ist mir auch schon mal bei FR und EK passiert. Finde es sehr schade, dass der alte Name verschwunden ist. Trip Reports aber in gewohnt guter Qualität. Thumbs up mate. Cheers.

Uns wurde schon oft von den Airlines versichtert, dass es kein offizielles Filmverbot gibt, aber dass es aus Gründen der Privatssphäre nicht gern gesehen wird, weshalb wir auch keine Crew filmen und möglichst darauf achten so wenig Gesichter des Passagiere zu zeigen. Aber wie du gesagt hast, dass hängt wirklich immer von der Crew und ihrer Laune ab. Einmal hat ein Flugbegleiter uns angesprochen und gesagt, dass wir bitte nicht in der Kabine filmen sollen. Ihn störe es zwar nicht aber er kann nicht für die Privatssphären der anderen sprechen.

Hm, is that just a weird crew or a general no filming policy? If it’s the latter I will definitely avoid them, because that’s a unnecessary regulation to say the least. Also I wonder what they want to do about it if you film anyway? Do they want to sue their passengers (well, their German parent company Lufthansa has some experience in using those methods...) But why did you change your name, what did I miss here? A lot of questions :D

a young flying friend (QFS Aviation) has had the same problems...certain airlines...here in US (was told a passenger complained on a trip, camera scared them).............??

Great review of a beautiful plane and spectacular scenery. It's a pity that all reviewers get tarred with the same brush. There are some narcissicist reviewers who no doubt disturb other passengers with their endless on-camera chatter (always with themselves in the shot) and filming of passengers. But respectful reviewers like you shouldn't be punished because of their behaviour.

Sam Chui is recognized by all of the Airlines of this world, although he had to tell Air Zimbabwe his work so he had freedom to record everything

I don't think there is a general rule that filming is not allowed (yet) but the crew decided to do that. I although I like watching this kind of videos, I can understand. There are too many people who have no shame to bother the other passengers and also publish footage of the crew during work. And especially the latter is something that they don't need to accept. In the end it is also the responsibility of the employer to project their crews rights. My guess is that this will happen more often.

Very strange situation...block out faces when editing ok but banning you...bugger that....everyone has a camera these days either smart phone or Go Pro etc....if they don't want you to film then put something on the web site! Glad you still filmed, despite some dumb ass telling you otherwise. Once they sit down for take-off, it's pretty much easy. Just be on the lookout during flight, as you film. Cannot understand that stupidity, when all someone is doing is filming their vacation and the airport and the flight is all part of it. You did great.

InflightXperience I understand completely. But my take on this is, not every name has a meaning. And in the world of social media you want to stand out, in stead of coming across as another “me too” RU-vidr. But of course it’s your choice. I’ve been following you for a while and just wish you the best, and don’t want to see you become a “me too” for the name sake 😉
