Thanks for the video. I didn't realize that they made BGA test socket readers. Maybe there's a snowball's chance that I can pull the data off of a dead Surface Laptop.
Hi Nunya Thanks for your comment. So , the EMMC box socket is enough to get the data when connect it to the laptop ? Or there is special software fixed on laptop to launch the EMMC data ?
the reader is something like this www.ebay.com/itm/eMMC153-169-Reader-test-socket-SD-BGA153-169-IC-Size-11-5x13mm-Data-Recovery-/302172580721?hash=item465ae3ab71:g:m0sAAOSwImRYRkU8 the are direrent socket for direrent IC start price around 100$ and up
Hello Mark. Thanks for the video. Even though it's a bit older you might have a tip for me. I have a Sandisk sdin7du2-8g emmc (from s4 mini) for data recovery. Since I don't have purchased a reader I'm about to jumper it to an sd-card reader. But my problem is now, how do I find out if the emmc needs different voltages for Vcc and Vss? I got the pin layout from the chip and the sd reader, but I'm afraid to put all together and then put it into the reader. I don't wanna cause any damage to the chip. Do you know maybe if this works for this chip aswell (it's basicly the same as from the s3 mini) or if you need to put in several voltages? Thanks in advance
im guessing this only works if the customer is not using full disk encryption, also what software are you using for reading the data and making the image and is the image readable by something like easeus or so you use something more android specific
Hi Mark, Nice to see your video's on non apple equipment. That underfill looks like it is half as bad to get rid of as the apple underfill. B.t.w. What hot air station are you using? I know what equipment Jessa has. But was wondering what you are using at home?
for emmc 5.1 (the one from lenovo zuk z2 ), that's is possible? i would pay a service for recoverying all my data... there so much photos and i didn't any backup i'm so frustated aff
Mark I woke up this morning and had a brick Galaxy s8+ also. AT&T and Samsung are useless. Tried to reboot with Volume and other side key. Comes on and then goes off. Really need my data. Do you have a mail in service?
hi mark!my andoid phone is 16 gb memory and gets full ,is it possible or any tricks to save or park my whole phone data to empty or create space for more watsapp videos and phone gets full by time to time plese guide thnks
Still have a sort of dead phone. Stuck in bootloop and does not respond to power button anymore. Cheaper to fix to a point where I can recover the data, or cheaper to manually extract data from eMMC? I only care about the data
Definitely don't try it yourself unless you know what you're doing and have the proper tools and software. You can request a quote via the website at www.ipadrehab.com
I did all the steps, but honestly don't know hat to do once I plug it in to my computer. I just shows a greyed out removable disk, and when I click on it, it says "please insert a disk".
mere pass ek j7 max dead hua hai usme costumer ka very important files hai kya aap muzhe data recover karke de sakte hai please jo chaarge lagega o mil jayega
@@MarkShaffer Yeah, I was wondering about that. However I do think somewhere deep inside Russian or Chinese web pages will be software to decrypt encrypted pin or password flash memory chips.
what reader are you using and does it take more than 1 size emmc. also ive seen readers with bga 153 bga 163 compatible etc what size chips are they? as info on my chip idoes not mention bga etc
Hi, I recovered a chip, but it shows the folder "/data" as encrypted. I have the user`s keyword, but I don't know how to use it. What is the software I can use it to recover the pictures? Thanks!!!
Without seeing them I can't say for sure, but chances are good that if they are recoverable, I can do it. Just visit our website to request a quote at www.ipadrehab.com
Can you walk us though the Software recovery process? I'm trying to recover crypto from a Samsung Galaxy Note II and i need to find a way to copy the data from the apps / wallets installed on my device.
i have 2 note 2 phones model sgh i317m one is working one isnt. I want the data from the non working phone how can i do it at home ? i suspect the issue is with the power ic since i changed the sim card tray the power cable tray power button and battery i cant think of anything else. thank you
Hello, I have a phone that has been acting up. Does not react to power on button 90% of time, tried a lot of things, including pulling files off ADB. It would not get past optimizing apps, so I assume its in a bootloop and I need the data. I posted on 2 forums with no help, and I think this is my last option. How much would something like this cost at a repair shop? I don't think I would be able to do it myself, and of course I value this data; or, should I look to try and repair it to a point where it will boot and I can recover the data? Which will cost less? Any help is appreciated
Doesn't seem to be a version for my device (BLU Pure XL), any advice on how to get my phone to turn on? I haven't been able to get it to turn on at all in a while, it gets warm/hot when connected to a charger but no response to any buttons, charging screen does not show up
I also do value that data a lot and now i want my data back but the phone doesnt just boot/ switch on. I have arranged another phone so im thinking of doing emmc recovering on that one first as an experiment and simultaneously looking for any shop from where i can get the recovery done but its highly unlikely where i live. I will be waiting for your rep.
Can someone maybe tell me which card reader do I need for Huawei P10, because there are many different ones that look the same but are for different emmc cards.. Thx!
The Huawei p10 ships with android 7 and is encrypted by default. I don't mean to sound rude but please do not attempt to add chip off Android recovery to your skillset if you can't be bothered to do the most basic research on the subject. You can easily turn a straight forward job into an unrecoverable one during your misguided attempt to do chip-off on an encrypted phone.
@@MarkShaffer Not original poster but are there any resources I can read regarding chip off with encrypted Android? I understand the mobile platform is moving towards TPM or hardware dependent crypto solutions so I am curious to know if my personal, dead original Pixel is a candidate for chip off recovery.
@@MrJumanji33 no, encrypted androids must be treated like an iPhone - make the phone work again. Unfortunately the common point of failure in a Pixel is cores within the CPU itself and the original CPU is necessary to decrypt the data.
@@MarkShaffer Wow thanks for the quick response! Can you give any explanation or point me to something about the cores being involved in the decryption? Unfortunately the phone started responding sporadically and eventually no activity ever registered again. On disassembling it I found the battery measured at 3.7V so I couldn't quite conclude there was a problem with the charging circuit. After trickle charging a bit I tried again and noticed the battery connector on the main board registered as a short after connecting the battery for a short period of time. I can monitor the battery connector for 15 seconds after removing the battery and visibly watch the resistance climb back to normal levels.
@@MrJumanji33 hard for me to guess what your problem is regarding your short but in my experience a Pixel that begins randomly shutting down and progresses to a bootloop will be unrecoverable. If yours just died and does nothing at all then maybe it is recoverable. I'd try powering it with a DCPS and go from there.

syed moizuddin sounds like data recovery is not possible. It's unfortunate but the emmc chip used in the s3 is known for failure. If you sent me the chip I could try to read it for you, but it sounds like it is unlikely.
nice job im working on a g5 that wont power up got the chip off real good waiting on my reader to come in hopefully i can figure out the software aspect of things also as i was watching this a customer who was waiting was like who is that talking im like mark shaffer lol idk i thought it was funny
