Especially when she said "watermelon" before eating it was the most dramatic and emotional thing in the video. I nearly broke down in tears. I felt that raw sense of great hunger for the mushy flesh of the watermelon. Absolutely beautiful, essentially groundbreaking cinema unfolded infront of our eyes. All jokes aside, yea.

I was told by my oral surgeon when I had my wisdom teeth out that gently biting down on a moistened black tea bag for 30 minutes would help with the bleeding. The tannic acid would help the blood to clot. I would think a decaf black tea bag would work just fine too. Good luck!

Can confirm that any tea bags help after getting all four out at one time and a couple of sick or vacation days as well. The teabags work but keep a cup to spit into available.

Luckily for me, I was able to have mine removed by a maxillofacial surgeon, and had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at the same time. I was also knocked completely unconscious, and my recovery time was very easy. I am very sorry that you are having to have them done one at a time over a course of weeks :(

Cooling is very important. It helps a lot to reduce swelling. Get two of these blue gel coolpacks. Wrap one in a kitchen towel and put it on your cheek. The second one sits in the freezer ready for changing.

Can second this. My surgeon actually ices before and directly after surgery and it REALLY helped compared to my sisters surgery (she had a different surgeon), my cheeks didn't swell up nearly as much at all compared to hers. The thing that also helped a lot was taking the ibuprofen as prescribed. My sister was gung-ho about not using her pain relief but the Dentist actually prescribes it as an anti-inflammatory. I didn't have nearly the same amount of chipmunk cheeks or soreness that she did.

I'm so sorry you have to go through all of that again! I had my wisdom teeth (all 4) removed when I was still a teenager (after I got my braces off). I was put completely under and the recovery was difficult because I was sleepy for at least a week, and didn't feel normal for at least 2. Moral support, lots of books/movies/etc. lined up, and lots of patience are very essential. I am getting a kick out of you reading Twilight and now 50 Shades. I was in my mid-20s when it became popular the first time around and reliving those memories through your videos is pretty funny. Good luck with your 2nd tooth!

How fitting this showed up. I'm getting 3 of mine out this coming Thursday. The 4th one hasn't erupted and the surgeon doesn't want to take it out since there's a high risk of developing a dry socket in that area and it could go up into the sinus cavity. So we have to wait on that one. I hope you're feeling better. If you can't continue to do one at a time maybe bring that up to him before you get the next one out and see if you can just get more out. Update: it's Friday and the only pain and swelling I have is on the bottom right. Which is surprising because the left side where I got both out doesn't have any pain or swelling. I didn't get any pain meds or antibiotics. They just suggested advil. What I can say is the mixture of laughing gas and IV sedative was amazing. Definitely a 10/10

Oh, Emma, glad to see you are feeling better! I am a dental hygienist and always recommend patients have all necessary extractions at the same time- you feel bad for a couple of days no matter how many teeth come out. Ice is your friend! Next time start with ice packs immediately. Consider getting a retainer to wear at night for your bottom teeth to keep them from crowding. It will happen even without wisdom teeth.

I had all 4 wisdom teeth out last year at the same time so I share your pain! Here's to a speedy recovery! Edit: Tips! Don't pack cotton swabs onto the wound. When removing they can remove the clot and cause the site to re-bleed. Soups are your friend - especially something hearty like a potato & leek soup. Avoid dairy in the first few days as a curd can form on the wound and cause an infection. Other than that, rest up and take it easy! Good luck. Fighting!

I had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out a very long time ago when I was still in high school. After they put me under, I have no recollection of the rest of that day. Apparently I really wanted to hug people and watch movies. Thankfully, the pain wasn't too bad, but I've been told I have a higher-than-normal pain tolerance. Best of luck with your second operation, whenever that is, and thank you for the wonderful Fifty Shades of Grey content! :)

Naw! I feel your pain Emma. I had all 4 wisdom teeth out at once (one was also sideways) so thankfully I was put under general anaesthetic, but the recovery was not good. I didn’t have much pain, but a lot of swelling and the fear of pulling my stitches or doing any damage made me scared to eat, so I was on a mostly liquid diet for about 5 days. I was so disheartened by my progress at that point and felt like I was never going to be able to eat properly again, but turned a corner at that 1 week mark. I had lots of icy poles, lots of custards, yoghurts, soups etc. I was also given a head wrap with insertable ice packs, so I wore that a lot and think it helped with the swelling and bruising. You made it through and it was tough, but you can do it! That toof will only cause trouble and has to go. Good luck with round two!

I had bottom wisdom teeth removed (that I had for ~15 years) by an oral surgeon on 2 separate occasions under local anaesthetic. I asked about the possibility of removing both at once and the surgeon would not agree to that under any circumstances. His reasons were: - removing wisdom teeth (especially such old ones) is not the same as removing any other teeth; the procedure may be lengthy, require incisions, teeth may be attached to the jawbone, etc. - anaesthetic is much stronger than in other procedures - you might struggle with breathing, swelling can be really extensive so removing wisdom teeth on both sides can turn disastrous if a person can't breath due to either anaesthetic or swelling - after the procedure, you should eat / chew food on the opposite side of your mouth not only for your comfort but also to try and keep the wound as clean as possible - no respectable oral surgeon / dentist will put a patient under general anaesthetic if the local one is an option; the risks are just too high and there were plenty of cases of patients who never woke up again, even after simple tooth filling procedures

Loved the video Emma! I got all 4 wisdom teeth removed when I was 16. Was super drugged up for nearly a week to the point that I can't recall pretty much anything. It's interesting that your dentist allowed you to pretty much eat whatever. I was advised to go on an all liquid diet, with exceptions to things like mushy noodles and ice cream. I broke the diet two days before my follow up appointment and they could tell I had been chewing, the food had gotten stuck in my wounds and I had to go on the liquid diet for another week. ALSO NO STRAWS, ANY SUCTION CAN CAUSE DRY SOCKET. That's when the blood clot that's healing in your wound is dislodged, exposing your bone/gums and can be extremely painful.

i had all of mine out years ago but one thing that was very important was to keep the empty socket area moistened. Having it (to them in my case) dry out is exceedingly painful - so avoid it at all costs. Swishing with salt water and then spitting it out often helps the healing as well as avoiding infection. Good luck and so sorry you have to keep going through this!

I remember being so out of it when I got the wisdom teeth out... we did bottom/upper left, then few months later right ones...local anesthesia each time. and it was a whole lot of no fun... the only advice is taking it easy, pain meds pain meds pain meds, ice packs and eating watermelon and cantaloupe until I got sick of them. Good luck for the next one!

Oh, Emma! I went through that years ago, but they did it all 4 at once, and it was at a teaching hospital, so who knows what kids had a go at my mouth. They also were impacted, so they were trying to uproot my other molars. I looked like pumpkin head and black and blue for six weeks. So much fun. Well, as someone older and wiser for the exoerience, don't let the pain get ahead of you. Don't wait until the pain get to where you can't stand it, becsuse by then, taking a pain pill is like pouring a cup of water on a house fire. I had a knee replacement 3-1/2 weeks ago, so I am suffering here with you. It's not so bad now; I actualky walked ariund Ikea for 3 hours yesterday. Can't keep girl down, I guess. Take care.

I am right there with you, I had to have all of my teeth removed in January so now I am a 25 year old man with dentures, which is pretty embarrassing honestly, but I have a beautiful smile now and have managed to lose almost 70lbs since then so it hasn't all been bad! As for the pain of having all of your teeth removed, I think I just got incredibly lucky or had the best oral surgeon on the planet, because I felt absolutely zero pain after everything was over with, never needed to take any of the pain meds, it was just a huge relief to have my broken teeth taken out that I had dealt with for almost 10 years. Long story short, I just want to remind everyone that it is incredibly important to take of yourselves, your own health is of the utmost importance. Sorry for the long comment, but I just wanted to share a bit and let you know it all gets so much better. Much love everyone.

Tips (I had all 4 out at once): -Prep in advance; a day or two before the surgery, acquire your soft things that can sit in the fridge or freezer for a bit (packs of ice cream, drinks, yogurt etc) or in the cupboard/pantry (packet/canned soup etc). -Get comforting foods, but a variety of them. Eating the same stuff gets reeeeeally boring. -Don't rush back to solid food if you're still bleeding or experiencing lots of pain. -Sideways wisdom tooth removal does hurt a little bit more. Make sure when you do your pre-surgery shop run to grab more ibuprofen. -See if Taylor B or another friend can come with again. -Give yourself permission to put your recovery first. Housework can wait a little if it needs to. -If you don't feel well enough to read, but want to read, there's audiobooks. As a suggestion to read next, I'd be interested in your thoughts on Guards! Guards! by Sir Terry Pratchett.

oh I feel for you Emma!! I had all 4 of mine done at once under local anesthesia (no laughing gas). I didn't get stitches, no pain killers either!! I have a small mouth so my bottom ones were pushing my teeth together too much as well. My top ones they said had to come out as well since they could have done the same thing even though I have a gap in my front two teeth (and I could have handled those getting pushed together). When you go to get your other ones done, I suggest before doing it, take some tylenol (that should help with the pain after, and it's not going to make you bleed more during the surgery unless they tell you specifically not to take any OTC pain meds). Maybe they could also give you some different pain medication as I feel maybe you had a sensitivity to the ones you were given this time (unless this is how you react to all pain meds that are prescription, cuz that is how I react to prescription pain meds, I actually get loopy like I'm high on something). During recovery, I spent 4 miserable days in pain and took tylenol and ibuprofen but it didn't stop the socket pain the first 2 days. I didn't eat a whole lot of foods, and did drink a lot of water. For the foods I did eat, it was mostly mashed potatoes, anything cold like shakes or something easy to spoon into my mouth and swallow without chewing.

I got four removed, one side at a time, at the hospital. The reason they gave me for not doing the bottom ones at the same time is that the swelling, if extreme enough, can block (part of) your throat, which is no bueno of course. Also, I got two weeks worth of painkillers (600 mg ibuprofen, which you can only get with a prescription here) and I needed all of them the second time! Crazy to me you only got three days (I think?). My bottom ones were horizontal though, so it was quite a bit of work to get them out. My doctor was awesome btw, didn't feel the injections with local anesthetic at all. Hi from a long time viewer from The Netherlands! Discovered you through your tiny appartement house tour and stayed ever since. I never comment, but watch most of your videos ❤

I got half of my wisdom teeth out with local anesthetic too and I haven't been able to bring myself to do it again since the other two don't bother me yet... BUT I have a couple tips for anyone who will be doing the same thing! 1) Make a loud playlist of music to bring and listen to if you can while getting the teeth taken out to keep you distracted from what's going on in your mouth and 2) As soon as you get home swap out the guaze in your mouth for a tea bag (wet it in warm water first)! Apparently the tannins in the tea help stop the bleeding but even if that's not true, I used peppermint & black tea bags and the taste hid the blood for the most part and it actually felt kind of nice. Good luck!!

OOUUCHH!!! Only one at a time, just get all 4 done and over with... or just get all 2 out, whatever you need, why one at a time, that's like double the experience (and post-discomfort). I got all 4 out at one time, got loopy and my sis drove me home, stayed home for about 2 days of discomfort and then 2 weeks of getting adjusted to the gap. Hope you feel better with the 2nd one. Haha!! Yes, more loopy Emma videos, especially if she's forgotten she filmed it hahah!!

I've tried writing a comment 3 times and it always sounds wrong so apologies in advance. Thank you for sharing this, it made me laugh (in a good way!) and I do empathise with you. I had to have a tooth out under anastetic many years ago and I thought the nurse was kidnapping me as I came round and I was kicking and fighting! I'm glad you had a Taylor to go with you and that you've recovered well. Take care

Respect for the local anesthetic kids. I got all 4 of mine out at once on local (my doctor was a wizard and the whole thing was done in 45 minutes, I'm not even kidding). I believe in a gentle saltwater rinse, tasty smoothie combos, and soup as some of the best things during recovery.

I got my wisdom teeth out two by two, one side and then the other a couple weeks after, local anaesthetic as well, when I was 14-15 years old I think. That was quite impressive since he had to dig into my gums to take the teeth out (and damn there was a lot of sparks coming out of my mouth, but it was normal ^^). He did it very quickly and very efficiently. I did suffer a lot since there was a heatwave and it really didn't help. I used to put ice cubes in a little pouch and basically keeping it on my jaw to help with the pain and I actually didn't swell that much. Good luck with the surgery and the recovery!! Sending good vibes to you!

Could be a lot worse. Mine was removed without any stitches on the wound. That means relying on a good blood clot, which didn't happen. The result was exposed bone or dry socket. Believe me, there's nothing more painful. To top it off, there was a nice hole straight into my sinus, meaning water would come out of my nose when rinsing the area with salt water.

I had to go through this with all 4 widom teeth. One of them was sideways as well but thankfully I didn't have any problems recovering. However, I did struggled a lot with one because they pulled it out so bad that I couldn't open my mouth at all, that one was the worse. I know how you feel Emma. Keep thinking positive on the next removal. Eat that ice cream and soups. Also, this vlog was so funny, I have read 50 shades books as well and let me tell you I couldn't handle the tampon scene, I had to take a break from that. 🙃

Hey. Just a random observation.. I started watching you right around the time the tiny house vid blew up and back then you sounded so Aussie but your accent has changed so much since being in Japan. It's still there, obviously but it's not as prominent as it once was. Hope you're well!

There's a video where Emma explains she has English parents. So her accent goes back & forth. I thought she was only English, until she explained she's from Queensland.

@@TeeBoyd88 Oh, cool I didn't know. I just meant that when I first started watching her a couple of years ago her accent was waaaay more defined as an Aussie, like it was really obvious but in the recent videos it's still there but not quite as prominent. It's cool how some people can adapt their accent to match their surroundings even as an adult! :)

We need a part two with more drugged Emma! I had to get all 4 taken out at once. Thanks to some medication I was on for a short period, my mouth dried out and 3 of the 4 practically disintegrated in that month. I was taking aspirin every day because I had to wait nearly a month (was in school 3 hours from home and needed to finish the semester). I was TERRIFIED of being put under, and would've preferred the local anesthesia, but they didn't give me that option. Luckily I didn't get much swelling, if at all, but one of the painkillers was upsetting my stomach, so I opted to just be in pain in my mouth than my stomach trying to empty everything. Learned years later that ibuprofen uses lactose as a leveling agent, and I am lactose-intolerant.

Oh no, Emma! I had one of my wisdom teeth taken out when I was in Saga. I was really apprehensive about the whole process, because I don't like any type of medical procedure, so my adopted Japanese mother took me. If she hadn't of, I probably would have backed out. I arrived at about 4:30pm and left the dentist office at 7:00pm. I wasn't put under either, it was just local. My Japanese mother told them that I don't like needles, so they used some gel first to numb my mouth, then applied the needle, so I didn't know when they did it. I kind of just zoned out after that. It felt like at times that the dentist was going to yank my jaw off, but he was very thorough and got all shards of the tooth out. The healing process was another thing I was worried about, but it the wound healed relatively quickly, and I didn't have any problems like dry socket. I do have to eventually get my other one out, but I am not sure if I'll be up for that adventure again. Haha. I'm glad it all worked out for you, and that you had someone to take care of you straight afterward.

Hi Emma, I had all four of mine out. I was advised to gently swish warmish salted water after eating to ensure food wasnt sticking to my stiches. Other than that I lived on soft foods and cool not cold drinks. Ice packs are great too, you can get some cute mini ones from daiso. Good luck!

I got 4 teeth removed in December last year but went under for it at hospital. Luckily I had no pain other than the discomfort after waking up initially. I will however stress that infection control is key. I had a tooth removed about 10 years ago and it got a little infected, IT WAS NOT FUN. Keep it all super clean, rinse gently with warm salt water and you’re good 👍🏼 also no straws! I think that’s how my first one got messed up. You got this

@Sovereignty3
@Sovereignty3 4 года назад
@@ApothecaryTerry you vould also have none or only some (my dentist said he had 3), or if you are over 30, they are very unlikely to move, so you don't need to have them pulled, that would be cosmetic. If they do start to move and are moving in towards your other teeth, they sill need to be taken out at some point as they can harm your other teeth, which is where you actually need them pulled. I have one thats partly up, but probably won't go up any more due to my age, I just need to keep it clean as its more likely to get plark as its in a harder to ckean spot and they often get forgotten about as they are non functional.

Totally agree with not using a straw! I stuck to cold/cool/tepid food for a while. An ice-pack helps with the swelling too. In Australia, I had 4 wisdom teeth out in the chair with only a local. You can take paracetamol and ibuprofen at the same time or spaced apart. The receptionist (who was an ex-pharmacist) recommended I take Panadol and Nurofen 2 hours apart from each other (and 4 hours apart from the same type). I had a few stitches and my face was swollen for a week or so, but I had very little pain. I think it's because I was managing it every 2hrs instead of every 4-6 if I'd only been taking one or the other. But everyone is different!

I was only born with 3 and had them all removed when I was 18! Doctor put me under and I’m glad he did. They were cut out and I had minimal swelling, had a chocolate shake and French fries a few hours later. Be careful about dry socket though!! 😭
