Also tell them how you magically didn't go to prison on a drug charge a few years ago as a "career criminal" or tell them how your friends with a child abuser and women beater yet you say you against all that go ahead JD tell the people some truth

I spent from 14-41 in active addiction. If I live until 12/23/23 I'll have been clean 10yrs. Point being... you HAVE to keep your sobriety your #1 priority every single day. The first day it's not your #1 priority is the first day of your road to relapse. JD is the real deal. I've been watching him for a long time. Living on the tip top of Appalachian Mountains it can be 25-30 miles to the nearest NA meeting if you can find one. Watching people like JD on RU-vid really helps me keep myself positive. I was abused from age 7 until 10. And never told anyone until I was in my 20s. Same thing ... I acted out and was labeled as the bad influence and my parents put me on medication to calm me down. I didn't know what was wrong with me and started smoking and drinking at 13. My first son was born when I was 15 and the second at 16. Both of whom my parents had adopted out. When I finally went to counseling I remember the therapist asking why I didn't see any red flags when I was being abused. I was so angry! I explained that this was my experience, and I knew nothing else. Nobody warned me as a 7 year old of the dangers of pedophiles, plus all 3 times it was someone I trusted so by the 3rd time I thought it was just par for the course and it happened to all young boys. I am sorry this happened to you as well! Abuse in any form is not something a young child should ever endure! Don’t give up. My family was also broken, over my and my brother’s drug use, and our selfish & self-destructive behavior, and the mental health problems that came about as a result of it. We still have a lot to make up for, but we’re trying, and our family got through it together. My brother spent a month or two in a mental health facility, and it was the worst few months of our lives. And it took months of watching him day and night before that just to get him to go. He was not the person we knew and loved for a while. But we got him help, and we got him through it, and he’s doing so much better now. I know how hard it is to get someone to seek help. Nobody wants to admit they have a problem, and nobody wants to be forced into getting treatment. Sometimes they cant see the problem, and blame everyone else for it. I know how much it hurts when someone you love doesn’t trust you, and thinks you’re out to get them, when you only want to help them. It’s not easy. Just know you aren’t alone, do your best to get him the help he needs, and don’t give up. Trust that the Lord will see you through. Don’t lose your faith in Him. “This too shall pass.” Your family is in our prayers. God Bless.

Its crazy because it's all you know...we become so used to the chaos that the idea of a regular life seems boring or so distant it's unreachable so we convince ourselves we don't want it. Getting clean is a huge lifestyle change but it's so fucking worth it! It means a change from being sick, depressed, broke, exhausted and trying to feed an insatiable craving that no amount of drugs or money can ever satisfy. It means you can live with clarity, understanding and purpose. The whole world opens up to you when you don't have to worry about getting or using drugs everywhere you go. You can travel, work, visit family, pretty much anything you want because youre not chained at the ankle to a debilitating drug. @@TenaciousMegan your words are very kind and supportive. I’m not a raging anything. It’s just that I know the feeling and I have the tools in my bag to use for certain projects. I just have never been this distressed and down and out. I know the feeling and I’ve been sober for years and I mean not even smoke cigarettes. I’ve been in trouble from fifteen with a DUI but I was with adults that made me drive and I didn’t know how. And I got my second dui about 8 years ago. I’ve been busted growing weed but nothing crazy. I got felonies for having them in pots. If I had them in the ground it would have been a misdemeanor. But I learned that it was wrong because it wasn’t anything commercial or large but even though it was for personal consumption I realized that I put my family’s and my life in jeopardy. That’s wrong and it didn’t take me that long in legal system to realize that fact. I just have acquired to many crutches to walk through this life! And you can’t run with crutches! It can form It's own addiction, but it's supposed to be alot easier to get off of. That, or there is a plant called iboga. The medicine made from it is ibogain. JD I was in my late 20’s when I decided to tell my parents about my abuser. My mother was devastated. That wasn’t my intention but after I told her she said it all made sense. Suddenly I started becoming more violent in small actions like a BB gun, then trouble with neighbors and pranks but finally AFTER the Marines I had to fess up and my mother sought out a therapist for me. He said 1 thing eventually, that changed me. He listened to me for awhile and I had all the same feelings of why I can’t tell anyone as he slowly got me to admit my a user mad me feel complicit in HIS abuse and I questioned my sexual orientation and he stopped me and said this. "Devin, first of all your not a homosexual and even if you were we could address that but you just aren’t. That being said when some bully messes with your sexual organs…it feels good! That’s natural. But what you need to do is not forgive that abuser but forgive yourself because Devin, it’s okay now." Changed me forever and now I have 2 beautiful daughters and a wife that truly cares about me. But there’s still an ugly past I have that I’ve always been afraid to let anyone know. While I was a marine I was considered a hard core field Marine and I had severe reactions to anyone that either hinted about hurting kids or remotely acting gay. Got in a lot of fights and received plenty of face stitches including stitches in my tongue. Sounds gross cuz it is. Anyway…thanks again

You are very correct in all that you said. But you don't need rehab or AA/NA and forcing people to do it never works. I was a hardcore Oxy contin addict from 2002-2009. I avoided trouble until i got a DUI in 2009. I woke up the next morning, walked over to piss and looked at myself in the mirror and Said I'm done with this life. I bought enough Suboxone for two weeks and from January 26th to today I've been clean. I think it all comes down to making that decision you've had enough and very few are able to do it. Unfortunately my 37 year old sister, I'm 40, has racked up 31 felonies in 15 years. She got paroled in January this year and went back to jail 3 times and they finally revoked her a couple weeks ago and has 8 years left. She doesn't want to quit, Even after she coded on an overdose in April, and checked herself out and went right back to using until probation and parole got her. It's tragic, i feel for anyone trapped in addiction. But good post by you.
