If you’re new to my channel, my name is Dr. Drew Timmermans, ND, RMSK. How I got here…
22 yrs old: Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario.

23 yrs old: Started working as a personal trainer for GoodLife Fitness in Canada, quickly becoming one of the Top 10 Personal Trainers nationwide.
23 yrs old: Herniated two discs in my lower back, ending my track and field career and sending me into a multi-year battle with chronic pain.
24 yrs old: Enrolled at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (now Sonoran University of Health Sciences) after discovering my passion for naturopathic medicine.
26 yrs old: Still battling chronic back pain, I finally became pain-free through a platelet-rich plasma injection.

29 yrs old: Completed the first-ever residency in regenerative medicine and integrative pain management at the Neil Riordan Center for Regenerative Medicine.
29 yrs old: Co-founded Regenerative Performance to help people with chronic pain just as I had been helped.

I got PRP for plantar fasciitis, and I am in more pain than ever. My doctor told me I was going to be able to work the next day. I am a nurse and work 12 hour shifts, and I can’t even walk

I'm terribly sorry to hear this. The doctor you worked with did not properly educate you on the normal down time after PRP injection for plantar fasciitis, and did not set proper expectations. We always tell patients to expect up to a week of increased pain, especially when people are on their feet. How long has your pain been worse?

I am having chronic partial tear in deltoid ligament in ankle. So to completely immobilise the joint( plaster or brace) for about 4 to 6 week is very important to heal the tear. But if i choose prp Should i first get prp injection and then put the plaster/brace or I get the plaster/ brace first and then after 4/6 weeks get the injection. Also studies shows that Nsaid reduce the prp effectiveness so is that same for anaesthesia that is used during injection process?

I had PRP on my planter factitis and was told no weight bearing for a week. Followed orders and it took about 6 months to completely get the full benefit from it - but I have never felt better! It was amazing how this worked after doctoring for over a year before with no answer for pain relief.

I've had about 5 prolotherapy sessions in the last 3/4ths of a year for my cervical neck now, and just last week a PRP session. I had a DMX scan, and it was showing alot of movement in my atlas axis area of my neck, which I guess would account for all my dizziness and pinching sensations I get everyday, most notably when standing. I have only noticed small improvements, but my question is more about recovery from cervical PRP injections. Different people keep telling me different things, don't move it, do move it, don't exercise, do exercise. Before the PRP I was doing daily sessions of gentle flexing back and forth against the tension of an elastic band, and now that it has been a week since my PRP, I am wondering if I should rest more, or begin doing those again? Any helpful advice is GREATLY appreciated! I am tired of being constantly dizzy/brain foggy/pinched :(

unfortunately I can't provide one on one advice for you because I don't know enough of your symptoms, imaging, and response to prior treatments in order. However, most of the time we allow normal movement and we don't restrict patients too much.

@abz7881 Hi, I'm way better, thank goodness, it's been 5 months since the 3 Saturday prp sessions in Costa Rica, and while I was there I had an MRI done and it turned out that it wasn't a ligament tear after all, it was a complete meniscus tear of my right knee, the back one. The doctor before I left told me I couldn't do squats again but I can use the leg machine, bike ride and walk. Honestly back here in the states, my dad having had a similar injury years ago told me forcing yourself to walk as much as possible and doing other exercises is the only way it's gonna get better, so believe or not the first 3 months back it still kind of bothered me, but I'm doing way better, with the walking and exercises, the prp was worth the sacrifice!👍🏼

Hi I had PRP for a TFCC injury 5 weeks ago, I detached the TFCC in both wrists 5 years ago, the last 2 weeks it’s been absolutely unbearable pain similar to post surgical pain, it feels like I’ve ripped the TFCC back off, I’ve had 4 surgeries the last 5 years. No one seems to be able to fix this injury, the clinic said the pain isn’t due to the PRP but it seems 10x worst than before the treatment only a month ago. Will this settle down? Is this normal? I was told this was a risk free procedure as was making good progress with physio, was about 70% better than before original injury, was hoping this would push me up to 90% but feel like it’s set me back 4 years. Hoping I’m jumping the gun and this might be prolonged inflamation as the injury is quite severe
@DrewTimmermansND
@DrewTimmermansND 8 месяцев назад
Sorry to hear that. It's really difficult for me to say if that's from the PRP or not seeing as I am not involved in your care. Big red flag that they told you it was a risk free procedure though. Nothing in medicine is risk free.

I have a PRP recovery question: I may have an injury from a PRP injection and I'm curious about the recovery time? Here's the context: I've been diagnosed with Patellar Tibial Tendon Dysfunction (PTTD or a type of tendonitis) in my left ankle either from several ankle sprains or from long terms effects from a tibial fracture almost 20 years ago. About 7 weeks ago, I received a PRP injection at site of most of the ankle pain (just below the medial malleolus) and again just over 4 weeks ago. I recovered from the first injection within a week but the 2nd was a different story; the injection seems to have either significantly aggravated the tendonitis or caused some other injury (slight tearing or inflammation to a nerve or ligament or tendon in the region of the tarsal tunnel, adjacent to the patellar tibial tendon). The pain after the injection is different and (almost) more intense than I had from previous ankle sprains. The pain from the 2nd injection was also noticeably worse than the first (both were more painful than anything I've experienced in several years!) and I could tell immediately from the whole region of pain (up and down the leg/foot, maybe all along the actual tendon) that something was different. I admittedly walked a lot on it in the first two weeks while working through some oral Voltaren (infuriatingly unavailable in the US!); after more rest in the past ~2 weeks the pain and inflammation have decreased. What could be going on with this new or aggravated injury from the injection?

I'm sorry to hear you're going through that. It's very difficult for me to give an opinion on what happened without seeing you in my office and doing a full workup on you.

@@DrewTimmermansND Understandable. Do you think you could answer these questions based on general knowledge? Is it possible for permanent nerve, tendon, or ligament damage to occur from a PRP injection in or around the tarsal tunnel? Can BPC-157, TB-500, or HGH injections heal serious nerve damage? Also, where is your clinic? How could I come see you?

1. Yes it's possible unfortunately 2. Yes, that is also possible.
