Recreating a 1940s Apron from the Real Thing

A friend gifted me a 1940s apron (identical to a Fruit of the Loom one she has) that used to belong to her grandmother, and I liked it so much that I decided to make a pattern from it and use it to sew an apron using one of my fabric designs. Of course, I had to make a mock-up first, and that was almost cooler then the real project.
You can buy this (and lots other) fabric(s) at: www.spoonflowe...
I purchased the sewing machine foot here: www.amazon.com...

The green side is nice as a Christmas apron. Also, that’s an awesome vintage apron. By the way, I do the same thing with my towels that’s why I like those ties to come around the front as well especially when you do a cooking marathon, you really need a towel like that!

I recently took a cooking class and when I tied my apron strings around the front and tucked a towel in, everyone looked at me, then did the same. :)

I have one from my grandmother or my MILs mother. I can't remember. I want to copy it as well in a heavier fabric than the very thin cotton it is, and very thin from use.

Hi Benita. How could I get a paper copy of your apron. Simply beautiful. I've checked every where.

I don't have access to it right now. We had to sell our house and move, and most of my studio is still in boxes. I am hoping that later this summer, I can get to them. I will keep you in mind when I find it.

Would you be willing to make a copy of the pattern? I love vintage aprons and will pay for a paper copy. Any kind of paper, newsprint, brown paperbag, butcher paper, anything. Please direct message me!! Love this!

Sure! Email me your mailing address - thefiberpusher@yahoo.com. It'll be brown paper as that's the only thing I have large enough.

I do that with a towel too. Although I also use pockets! I’m wondering if the neck could be higher in front? Do you have the pattern available somewhere?

Sure the neck could be higher if you made it higher. I thought about adding a pocket. Still thinking about it. Might have to try it. :)

Unfortunately I can't send it right now. We moved and my studio remains unpacked (it's been an incredibly busy year). I simply have no idea which box it might be in. If you do a search for 1940s apron pattern, you might be able to find it elsewhere.

Oh, bless your heart! I bought that at Hancock Fabrics when it was still open many, many moons ago. But, I believe fabric.com has it - www.fabric.com/buy/0660038/in-space-packed-planets-black. This looks like it to me.
