Great idea! I teach photography and Photoshop to teenagers and have them do something similar but recreating art history paintings through photography. They have so much fun with it.

There wasn't photoshop when Marilyn Monroe was in photoshoots, but there was a lot of editing that was available in the darkroom as you were printing your photos. A lot of the names in photoshop are throwbacks to the techniques that used to be done by hand. You look amazing though!

I always loved your confidence and what you do to inspire others to be more body confident and this is a testament to that. Honest bodies are always attractive. There is no such thing as the "perfect body" that the media likes to glorify, but a woman who embraces the body she does have, imperfections and all, will always be perfect the way she is.

I recently started watching your videos, and I just wanted to let you know how much I admire you. In this day and age, people feel the need to make ecuses for their body, and don't feel comfortable showing it off. You are so confident and have taught me to be confident too. It shouldn't be a rare thing that curvy women feel confident in the way they look.

There was no Photoshop in the 50s but there definitely was editing of images via darkening, lightning, filters on lens, cutting and pasting images, illustration and painting on the image film itself. It was the 'OG' Photoshop.

losing weight should be for HEALTH reasons. You can accept yourself in any shape but being severly overweight is a health risk. It is for Sierra, too, even if she doesn't realize it now. You cna love yourself, but when in 20 years you will be diabetic and struggling with your joints, you might wish you had maintained a healthier weight instead of just "loving yourself" in any weight.....

I do kind of wish people would stop utilizing Marilyn as a plus size hero. I do truly think the world of Sierra, these videos are helping my body positivity in a way I will never be able to express. And I love Marilyn and her films and modeling, and yes for the day she was likely a “plus size” and had the hourglass figure no one else had, but she wasn’t todays “plus sized”. She had a bust and the hourglass but she was still a size small. Her clothing was like size 6 to 8 or something. I am completely for body positivity but as a plus sized person who does not have a bust or an hourglass shape using Marilyn as the original curvy girl plus sized icon i find to be kind of damaging. Be whatever you are and want to be. If it’s not hurting your health just rock it. But claiming that Marilyn was big in any way is a falsehood.

I agree, you can even see in the photo she had quite thin thighs and arms, she was a comparable size to other actresses of that era such as Jane Russell, Bette Davis, etc. Marilyn's curves have taken on a legendary and apocryphal life of their own.

Marilyn Monroe wasn't even average size, unless average size back then was tiny with a very dramatic figure, I googled her measurements, according to Google her waist was 22 inches (that's like a size 00 or xxs today) and her hips and chest were 35 inches (so like small to medium today)

This looked super fun, awesome job. I'm glad you got to do something like this. My only criticism is that the Britney Spears photo looks pretty different due to lighting. I think it's more the editing lighting versus the lighting used in the shot (all though maybe they had pointed crazy spotlights on her) but her photo is crazy bright and blown out and washed with light and your lighting looks more soft and normal. It's really the most noticeable difference. That and your hand wasn't folded like hers. But you still look awesome. :)
