In this video I'm inspired by Shein (which I don't endorse in any way, but got inspired to make this video by an ad). I sew 3 pieces that I reacreate from items on Shein. Personally I don't shop online and try to only buy second hand clothes or make them. In this video I'm making them with second hand fabrics, best of both worlds ;) I do acknowledge that I of course have the time to do this. No shaming anyone here! But I hope in this way to show you that can easily make these things yourselves, for less money even and in a sustainable, ethical way :)
I hope you enjoy the video, let me know which piece was your favourite. I have many more ideas and even more vintage fabric so... there'll be more!

I think the yellow dunagrees look LOVELY, the mismatching looks intentional. x

I really enjoy watching your sewing vlogs. I am a beginner sewist too and it's very refreshing to see someone who is authentic in sharing their sewing makes. So often the perfect makes are shown on social media but I feel it's important to also see the ones which have not turned out as we expected.

Ah thank you so much, that's such a nice comment! I think we usually like to show only the good parts, but we all know how frustrating sewing can be! It's not always as satisfying when something doesn't work out, but I always NEED to make it work haha. Thanks for watching!

Firstly your English is excellent, secondly this was such a good video idea and very well executed!! I see so many fast fashion items I like but would never buy so you've inspired me to try to recreate some. Finally, I love the pieces you made and they all look so good!! Well done and keep it up :)

So glad you didn’t give up! I’m a beginner, too, and nothing frustrates me more than having to unpick a seam more than once. ❤

So frustrating indeed, but in the end.. it has to be done. Thanks for watching! :)

The first vest you made is so cute! I think it would look really good with a black turtleneck. The second one turned out very cute, but it would show better with a beige sweater underneath because with that blouse you cannot appreciate the vest's print since it sorts of dissapears into the color of the blouse. Thanks for sharing your projects with us.

Love this! And love the cat lamp behind you! I hate Shein too. I sew and I have noticed that ads for Shein pop up on my socials (even though I've never bought from them and never will). I think the "inspiring" thing about Shein is the mass amount of stuff that they have and how exact their algorithm is; even though I would never shop from them, I do use images very similar to what they advertise on my page as inspo for my own designs. I think Shein has what designs each person they are advertising to nailed down to a science. That's part of why they are so scary as a company. That wrap top is so lovely! keep up the good work!

Thank you! The cat lamp is one of my many thrifted finds haha, it's just so quirky! Yes in all honestly there's nothing inspiring about Shein, but their marketing and algorithm skills are kinda scary indeed! That's how they lure people in.. just crazy to think about how 'dependable' we've become on algorithms... Thanks for watching :D

that vest is so CUTE! did you use a pattern for your original quilted vest or self draft it? I'm also a newer sewist and just whipped up my own quilted vest last week, but I made the back neckline a touch too low and the armholes ended up so big haha. it's probably not something people would notice, but of course because I made it, I notice all of the little flaws. anyways, I love seeing all of your makes and really appreciate your editing style! the dungarees were a great save
@angelicavis
@angelicavis Год назад
Thank you so much! I self draft it, I have made video about it where I show how I do it, but in that one I make mine a little too big as well haha so might not be a great example haha: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xoCnsk6uXIM.html&ab_channel=Ang%C3%A9licaVis And I agree - no one else will see it, but you might be so selfconscious about it yourself! In the end people will only be impressed you made it yourself though :) Thank you!

I am so impressed by you! Thank you for showing us an authentic newbie! I’ve only made one pair of trousers so far and I found the crotch area so hard and haven’t found much motivation since then. But I absolutely love how you persevered and patches the dungarees together to make them functional rather than giving up! I feel like also it plays into the idea that you were going for is being sustainable as you used up all your scraps. Also supper impressed that you can crest your own pattern, I’m glad I found your account ❤ I would love to watch more like this (also your English is fantastic - I would say ‘gay-ping’ for the word for the gap between the fabric and you.
@angelicavis

Thank you so much! The crotch area is very difficult for me as well, it's either too tight or way too big, like there's no in between. I do hope to get better at it :) & Thanks, gaping sounds right! It's actually the literal translation of the Dutch word 'gapen' but sometimes that just feels too literally translated, even though it's correct haha. Thanks for watching ❤️

Ah Angelica, such a great video! You made me laugh out loud - I love your sense of humour 😊 It is lovely to see your confidence growing on screen and with your video production skills. I love all your makes here but particularly admire your perseverance with the dungarees - I reckon we learn the most from the projects that drive us crazy 😅 For what it's worth, just make videos that YOU enjoy making, with content that makes you happy. You will never please everyone, so just follow your heart and like-minded people will find you ❤

We have a few big Christmas events we attend each year. And I'm 100% willing to admit that I've focused on formal dresses because I really want to be able to say "I made it!" in response to people asking about my dress at events like that!!
