Hi, I'm Angélica, a 30-something-year-old from the Netherlands. I'm a professional photographer and have a degree in illustration. On this channel I want to share more illustration (printmaking) and sewing videos in the future. For now it is a mix of a little bit of everything.
Funny thing.. magpies are my ‘thing’… as in when I’m questioning something in life, i see a magpie… 😬 Lovely print! Also, I completely agree with the ‘making art for the joy’ aspect you’re alluding to… I am working on a HUGE project, related to sewing, so my ‘creative joy’ is now in art.. painting, drawing, anything that isn’t sewing gives me a feeling of joy because it ISN’T sewing or pattern making… Thanks for todays video Angelica.. came at the right time.. I’m going to eat, and get out my sketchbook and pencils for some me time. 😎

I moved out of my old flat (to which I moved in 2012!) in 2020, to a new city (because of a new job), during the pandemic, 6 weeks after my job started (so I had a place to sleep in-between). My (now not so) new place is a tiny bit smaller than my old one, so there was no glorious "oh so much new space" and more "why do I have so much stuff??". I had so many emotions during moving and still often have a hard time watching moving vlogs, as they all seem to mostly focus on all the exciting new things and that is not what I felt at all.
Ohhh I can only imagine your feelings! Even though I moved to a muuuuch bigger space, it felt incredibely overwhelming. I can't imagine how that must have felt like during the pandemic where you moved to a new city!! And lockdowns in a new place! That must have been horrible.. gosh. Do you still life there? I hope it feels like home now! :) And yes agree that all the moving vlogs are all about fun and excitement, while it sometimes can just only be very stressful...
@@angelicavis I still live there! To be honest, as soon my cat was there, it felt like home. And I think she felt the same (she hated the place we stayed at in between). It is still not in the best shape (I am not good at that), but I have a lovely kitchen. My bedroom/office is a mess right now, and I want to make it more usable for sewing, but there is so much stuff and not enough space!
I was gonna say ‘where’ve you been’ regarding the summer being missing here in NL.. it’s been between 26-33°c up here in Groningen for weeks! 😆 but I suspect you made the video a while ago after reading your description.
Thank you for the video, it was a joy to watch as allways😊 i think most of your problems with the fit would have been solved with thinner fabric that has a more drape to it. But you have to work with what you've got! I thrift most of my fabrics too an it can be hard to find flowy fabrics second hand. You fixed the back of your neck really well 👍 Greetings from Finland!
Thanks for watching again ❤️ Yes the fabric is a little too sturdy, I hope it will drape a little better after a few washings. I did wash it beforehand but I have hope it might become a little more soft later on... We'll have to see. Thanks! ❤️
Hey great to see you again! This is how my life is looking right now. The last couple of weeks have been really busy at my work and I haven’t feeling with the same time/energy to do creative things but creation time is so much needed for my mental health. I’m looking for the weekend to work on my sewing projects. Thanks for the pushing. Love the fabric of the dress by the way.

Love your choice in wall colors! That’s honestly one of the hardest things for me as I’m very indecisive. It’s impressive how you’ve gotten so much to look quite moved in and painted in just a few months!
Hello Angelica - I was so happy to see a new video from you 😊, but sorry to see that you are struggling a bit at the moment. There's a reason moving house is considered one of the top five most stressful life events - right up there with divorce and the loss of a loved one 😮. It's a huge adjustment, so it's no wonder it's taking time to work through all the emotions. Be gentle with yourself and keep gardening - it's so good for the soul 🌻. On a practical note, painting on those textured walls looks soul-destroying 😬 Is it possible where you live to hire or even buy a small paint spray-gun, like the professionals use? It might make the job easier, especially getting an even coating on the textured finish? Love the lilac! Hang in there - one day soon you'll wake up feeling completely at home, I'm sure of it ❤
Hi Astra!! Thanks for watching ♥ Yeah I think I did underestimate the moving and how emotional it all would be. I had known it would be hard since I'm such a sentimental person, but this was... well.. life changing kinda 🤣 For now the textured walls are finished, I painted the other bedroom (sewing room to be) just white. Think I'll just paint the furniture a crazy colour 😅I had looked into hiring one of those machines! But then I realized you had to really cover everything up and I know myself: I'm not good at that haha. Thanks for your kind words and thanks for watching 😍😘
I have the exact vintage Husqvarna machine. It's been working beautifully but just recently, the underside has come up like a birds nest. I realized it is a tension issue. I've messed around with all of the knobs. Could you let me know what your settings are for all of your knobs? I need to get it back to it's original settings. Thank you!

Congratulations on your new home! I understand how hard it can be = we too just moved, and while it is good, I left a part if me and many memories. But looking forward is always better then ruminating an the past ☺
Hi! I won't have the time for a while as it is buried underneath a lot of moving boxes for a while.. hope you'll figure it out soon! It is quite easy but of course you'll have to get it right. Hope you'll find a manual online!

I really really love the things you made! The color combinations are as always on point! I totally get the lack of motivation to sew.. I have a market coming up in a week and sewed non-stop for it the past 1-2 months, always the same patterns.. gotten a bit sick of them tbh :D

Such cute makes as always! Making clothes for yourself can be really hard. The pieces are big (as in: human size), and the stakes are high as you need them to fit and actually want to wear the finished piece. I find it helpful to take breaks from it and sew smaller projects that are 'useful' or practical e.g. cushion covers, little quilted items such as a table mat or purse for makeup etc. This allows me to work on a smaller scale and finish an item more quickly. And best of all: it doesn't have to fit my hips! 😅 Your sewjo will come back, I'm sure! 😊
