It just so happens that whilst listening to this in the still of the night, a soft drizzle played its own pensive tremolo on the autumn leaves outside. This moment will inspire me for many years to come. Thank you.
MARAVILLOSO A mis 70 años, primera vez que me hacen llorar con una grabación. Es que realmente MARAVILLOSO. Espero tener la oportunidad de llegar a tocarla parecida. TODA una inspiración. Desde Santiago de Chile
Spain gave to the world two of the greatest guitar geniuses that ever lived: Francisco Tarrega and Paco de Lucia. Thanks Adam for this beautiful interpretation
Dear Friends and guitar lovers. I have been holding off on commenting on the many dislikes because the reason for them is quite surreal. I investigated how could this be, that in 24 hours, at some point last year, I got tons of thumbs down. It turns out that there was some kind of unexplainable glitch; It seems that 94% of the thumbs down came from………. you ready for this……. BANGLADESH….. I know, strange…..:) what have I ever done to them, I thought. So, as to be expected, Some people gave me a sincere thumbs down, that's fine, but not this massive amount from one country that is not knows for being a classical guitar metropolis. I have said nothing, because It always seemed undignified to respond to criticism in a public way. I figured I would "break" that rule since we do live a world of ever closer communication. Thank you all for your support and comments. Cheers.
Adam del Monte Frankly it's a sham... I don't think those thumbs down could possibly be independent people disliking what you do. I personally love your playing and have kept coming back to these videos for a year or so, the best renditions I've heard (my preference) and I've tried to copy your style when I play these songs, you're my inspiration.
Adam del Monte Sounds almost perfect to me, but could do with a little variation in the sound level on the tremolo as emphasised in the original piece.
Adam del Monte It wasn't perfect. If the people who listened were mainly classical guitarists, that would explain the thumbs down. It's a difficult piece, sustaining that tremolo for such a long stretch.
+Adam del Monte : Why the fuck bengladesh could have anything personal against you ? by the way, how can you know the down votes are from that country ?
What an amazing virtuosity of Mr. Del Monte, everything is perfect in this performance, a millions *BRAVOS* to you and respect for the great artist. *BEAUTIFUL* work.
Beatiful maestro Adam ! Love your cross classical/flamenco approach, one thing I was searching for a long time… usually two almost completely distinct worlds, but you are the prove that it is possible ! Thanks for sharing 👍🙏
A most superb version and very nice video too. Truly wonderful playing. You can definitely count me in as a new fan. Its such a hard piece to play at this level. Great tone, even-ness and interpretation ...I am green with envy lol.
Hola Adam! Soy guitarrista hace 53 años que toco. Estudié con grandes maestros y al menos desarrollé un buen oído. Tu interpretación me parece excelente. Haces bien en denunciar lo que pareció ser un juego malintencionado. Te felicito y agradezco que hayas subido este hermoso trabajo.
I've heard this wonderful piece played by many but this version takes the cake, if I may put it that way! The others don't even come close. Beautiful... so poignant and hypnotic.
It is a real shame how some jerks abuse technology to abuse people who are striving to produce something positive and beautiful. Your artistry is very good. You do not need to take a backseat. Dios bendega mi amigo.
Beautiful. Very even tremolo, fantastic tone on the thumb melody, and nice expression and dynamics in all aspects. Del Monte's Recuerdos is one of my favorites; up there with Pepe Romero and Ana Vidovic.
Hi Adam - I am an intermediate guitar player and mostly play Flamenco and been listening to your great flamenco playing and stumbled onto this. My teacher has me practicing Recuerdos to improve my tremolo and it has come a long way. When I looked for examples to follow I found great players like John Williams and Kim Chung, but this is every bit as good as them if not better and will use it in my practice. I will definitely be coming to your show in San Diego this August.
great performance. I actually have improved my tremolo by instructions given in your videos. I will upload my own play of Recuerdos De la Alhambra possibly soon.
gotcha... I found a playlist on here that had almost every song from it but couldn't find that one ANYwhere... it's not a bad little cd tho/ might get it! lol
M Delmonte, please forget about the stupid bad commentaries of Bangladesh people. Ypur playing is absolutely amazing either in classical or flamenco. You are a truly great player and we are all looking forward for your nest recording in performance serie.
A very technically demanding piece but played excellently. I think one of the reasons why people aren't liking it is because of the lack of expression and dynamics. Possibly some more obvious crescendos/ decrescendos and some rallentando's would help. Other than that your tremolo is great and your technique is outstanding, cheers!
Can you please show us all how it's done by posting your version of this piece???I mean you criticized his playing for this and that.....gee I can't wait to hear your version of recuerdos.
klasikindo Did you even read my comment? The only thing I criticized was his lack of expression. I stated he played excellently and his technique was outstanding or did you only read the second line of the comment? Your comment is so flawed in many ways, do I have to be a professional musician to have an opinion on a performance? Does a movie critic have to make his own movie before criticizing a movie? Okay, well next time going by your comment, don't have an opinion on ANYTHING unless you can do it better! Please think before you make these comments, it makes you sound like a child.
Joshua Chen Sorry I don't mean to be rude. To me his playing is perfect and I just don't know what else needs to be there. So when I read your comment I was keen to see just that. I didn't know you can't even play recuerdos. Also we live in a free world, of course you can have an opinion on anything. It's just that I was fooled by your comment. You sounded like a pro. I didn't know you don't even know your shit.
klasikindo I realise my comment was a bit harsh and I do apologise. Thank you for acknowledging my point, but I'm not too sure where you got the assumption that I haven't played the piece or have any knowledge of the guitar. Yes you could say his performance was flawless and his tremolo is great but as I said earlier I believe the absence of dynamics caused it to be disliked. I was trying to give out constructive feedback but obviously you have taken it the wrong way, also I'm not sure why you apologised for being rude and then said "you don't even know your shit".
This tremolo thing is maddening to me. I just can’t get it down to sound nice. What I don’t get is when I watch your fingers - not only yours but of other great guitarists as well - you seem to play it way slower than it actually sounds. I just don’t get it…
