Good on the effect of tiller. But is there a video to show you the best way to adjust the tiller?

I have to say, its great that people like you and anthony for shoreshot archery are rewly dedicated to responding and answering the questions you fans have. Its realy nice to see people who are truly in love with the sport, help people who are knew, or who like to get expert opinions. I didnt think i needed this video on tiller, but after what you said, once I can get back to the rang(closed rn due to covid 19) i will better ajust it to my fingers. My poiny is that you help more than just one group of people in the community, and its realy helpfull and heart warming to see people due it

The answer I was looking for to my sore ring finger and struggling to get the pin up to the ten ring. Going to try it and I'll let you now... Thank you :)

Jake this is absolutely vital to comfortable and consistent shooting! I will try the string walking exercise to get an idea of what pressure distribution I like the most and then set my tiller to suit : )
@tgallife

This is the first time I hear about tiller in this way. Very interesting. I never managed to see any movement of the pin like so many books have suggested. I ended up trying masking tape and lipstick on the string to measure how much the string contact the limbs after release. I then adjust the tiller to equalize the measurements. Have you ever approached tiller this way?

Like I have said it before its fantastic to get this type of video from some one that has shot at the highest form & you seem to be a down to earth sort of person . I love to me you in person but I live 1/2 around the world here in Australia . Your the number 1 archery video I watch. Keep up the good work

Great video as always and again, perfect timing as I'm having a lot of trouble lately with my ring finger pressure. It feels like I hold about 70% on my ringfinger and it kills me. Gonna try some tiller adjustments then! (Had a 1.5 yeah break so I really appreciate your new content as I already enjoyed your older stuff!) Greetings from germany!

I notice my grip "slips" as I come to anchor and I'm trying to keep my wrist relaxed. My ring finger will even come off completely sometimes. I know there isn't suppose to be much pressure on it but it's seems too loose. I was thinking this was due to finger pinch, but my bow is 68'' and my draw is 27'' so I don't think that should be the culprit. According to your "string walking" example I should try turning in my bottom limb bolt a bit to remedy this?

My son asked me a simple question but I couldn’t answer it. How do you know what size bow you should buy? 66”, 68” etc. Also, could you please clarify what size string to buy. Seems like there are lots of different answers for this question. My apologies if you have already covered these questions.

I'm going to assume that you adjust both tiller bolts a small amount vs primarily working from the bottom or top? Oh and thanks for sharing info!

Depends, if you want to go up in weight a little too just screw in the bottom to increase tiller...

@ludodg
@ludodg 4 года назад
I think your idea of changing the tiller to adjust the feeling on the draw-fingers ... but IMHO, you might get your tiller seriously out of tune while doing so. the feel on the drawfingers might be nice or correct but a too big difference in drawweight of the two limbs will make the bow react badly and also change the horizontal path of the nocking point after release .. and thus affecting the arrow-start and arrow-flight. I think it is a good idea ofr fine-tuning .. but not for basic tuning your bow. But that's just my 2 cts.

I have a 40 hoyt recurve and samick ideal riser , after each training session i realize that the tiller bolts gets loose, even after i tighten it before training, is that because the riser is weak and cant handle the limb power ?
@fahlvfaust677
@fahlvfaust677 27 дней назад
Samick Ideal riser is made out of cast aluminum; be careful if you use heavy poundage limbs because they are not stiffer as forged CNC machined risers. 40-pound limbs are not recommended on this kind of riser.
@fahlvfaust677
@fahlvfaust677 27 дней назад
Whether solid block aluminum fully CNC or forged cnc they can use more than 40 pound limbs, but not for cast aluminum risers. Correct me if I'm wrong..
@bassemedres4470
@bassemedres4470 25 дней назад
@fahlvfaust677 I've been using it for 4 months now, and i put 2 dampers at the top and the bottom to reduce the vibrations from the limb, I don't know it gonna make it withstand the 40 pound limb or not but I think it is working, the issue that i had it's solved now and it's working fine, that's till I get a new riser

Hi there. This particular video I didn't understand at all. First of all, for what exact purpose does tiller serve? I mean, I thought that it meant for synchronizing your limbs. And the second one -- how does one apply it to barebow?
@JakeKaminskiArchery
@JakeKaminskiArchery 4 года назад
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aTAUIMEhGWY.html I cover what tiller does in this video. It is about "synchronizing" persay, but less then 1% of people have access to high speed video, and limbs "synchronize" on their own in my experience. So its not really important, you compensate for the limbs being off with nocking point and bare shaft tuning anyhow so I'd rather set it for keeping my fingers on the string. Barebow is essentially the same, if you have a huge crawl, one might benefit from a more negative tiller. I have mine set at zero to start but will probably move to a negative tiller for that reason.

Hi Jake. Thank you for this new (for me) tiller concept. Do you recommend using a tab, or only the naked fingers to feel the pressure?
@JakeKaminskiArchery
@JakeKaminskiArchery 4 года назад
You’ll feel it on both. I just don’t use a tab to demonstrate, no need.

I sometimes feel that my fingers are trying to slide up (rather than off) the string and I have wondered if this was something that indicated a tiller issue? Or something else?

No mention of accuracy being effected which can be a drastic effect of having the tiller incorrect for you. As far as fingerv pressure adj this has to always be second to accuracy.
