"Comrade, you are to write glorious national anthem by Sunday, or Monday will be very good day for you." "Why would Monday be good day?" "It because train to gulag does not leave until Tuesday!"
Yes, but as history has shown, communism doesn't fix corruption either. Wherever you go, in any society, you will still find a few narcissists and psychopaths.
Nic Quattromani Maybe if Lenin lived longer and Stalin never came to power, it would have been better. Lenin was a greater man than Stalin ever would have been.
Mao Templar It's odd, anthems tend to have a certain 'driving,' 'triumphant' sort of sound to them (understandably). It really sounds similar to the Canadian national anthem if you ignore the actual lyrics.
+Jake Warren There was another contender for the UK national anthem, To Thee My Country, look it up it is pretty good and is more patriotic than the "God save the queen" rubbish. Still can't quite defeat this though!
Lyrics: Unbreakable union of free republics Great Russia has welded forever. Long live the people's will created One, the mighty Soviet Union! Be glorious, our free, Friendship of the peoples strong! Lenin's party - the power of the people Us to the triumph of Communism! Through tempests the sun of freedom shone to us, Great Lenin lit up our path: To the right cause he raised up the people To labor and exploits inspired us! Be glorious, our free, Friendship of the peoples strong! Lenin's party - the power of the people Us to the triumph of Communism! In the victory of the immortal ideas of Communism We see the future of our country, And the red banner of the glorious Motherland We will always utterly true! Sing to the Motherland, home our free Friendship of the peoples strong! Lenin's party - the power of the people Us to the triumph of Communism! :)
XanthinZarda wait so you listen to the national anthem of another nation so you can show how you are loyal to the United States? On the birthday of the US? I am so confused.......but still a good song........
Matheus Alves da Cunha Then you can pretty relate to the Soviet Union and their valorous deeds, needed to defeat the Nazi War Machine. ;) I can imagine the Military just going berserk after listening to this, wanting to defend the 'Motherland' and crush the Nazi's at all cost. Pumped up full with adrenaline, the Red Army would kill those sons' of bitches without problem. That's real patriotism right there.
So beautiful ...so heartfelt :-) I'm old enough to understand that there's no absolute rule. I visited Russia in many different periods and what I could understand is that Russian people are wonderful, welcoming, highly educated in arts and open to share their views...all the rest of what goes thru media is just propaganda or garbage. Get to know people..and you'll get to know the country.
I agree I'm Polish and Russian but I was born in America my dad lived under soviet rule so he visited the USSR so much times he tells me the same that the Russian people are creative and well minded and welcoming
Agreed. Communism was but one ugly chapter in Russia's history. It's a country of fine art and architecture, great culture, and even sporting achievement.
As a Chinese young man, I cried for this great nation which defeats Nazi Germany, conquest the space. As a comrade, I felt so grateful that I was born in China, we have noticed that these capitalism countries still controlling the world. We are ready for building our great nation and wish you all the best.
Soviet coat of arms is so cosmic and progressive. I like when state emblem doesn't have claws, fangs, beaks and other capitalist-style predatory symbols.
Ian Laor 1. They didn't revolt 2. They weren't all underfed 3. They're poorer than they were before and they still don't have any freedom (I know people from eastern europe and almost all of them regret the time of the USSR it wasn't perfect but it was better than today)
Ian Laor Actually, 77% of Soviet citizens said YES to USSR at 1991 Referendum: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_Union_referendum,_1991 Boris Yeltsin ignored the opinion of the people, dissolved the USSR and in 1993 he disbanded former Soviet parliament using tanks. George Bush and Bill Clinton completely approved all Yeltsin's actions: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_Russian_constitutional_crisis
+Potatotro What is Hans implying about Isabelle? How is she ruining everything? And what that "everything" contains? One day Karl... One day, I hope in that day too. xD
I like capitalism, but this is just simply epic. This inspires me everyday to do work harder. I'm Mexican and this is my favorite foreign anthem by far.
javyer58 You like capitalism and thats why a lot of Mexicans are drug dealers. You have huge cartels and strong mafia. Nothing of this above would exist in communist mexico!
Bat Man Nope, even with communism nothing would change. Communism is a great ideology but when is implemented it doesn't work because being a communist does not require certification, and meets the need for affiliation.
+jayver58 you seem to have misconceptions about communism, I'd recommend reading this www.ucdenver.edu/faculty-staff/bgoodric/Pages/Correcting-Misconceptions-about-Marx.aspx and this www.marxist.com/the-myths-about-marxism.htm (the last one is a bit more bias but it's still a good read).
For me this is the best Anthem in the world.. the music and the voices are so perfect, beautiful, powerful, vibrating and every time I listen to it makes me get chicken skin.. Absolutely a Masterpiece!!
+MrVinnyable1 to be fair Che was around in first part of the 20th century. Though to be very fair its unlikely there was true free market style capitalism in those nations. For capitalism to work it needs a strong foundation of liberty it won't work if central governments are too strong or the prevailing culture is not supportive of liberty.
I love sovietic old times, my father used to tell me his own experiences when he lived in sovietic union, I was born in 18 december 1991 just a few days before soviet union ends, but I would liked have to live in the gold times of that great nation.
Vladislaus Dracul. When I wrote "sovietic" I was thinking in Russian language not in English language. Советский = Sovietsky (sovietics). Now you get it? :)
The first time, I heard this anthem, I wept really hard, I don't understand a word though but I can really feel the patriotism and sacrifice of the Great People who have fought really hard to keep the Country. May God be our Strength and our Blessing.
L’oppression a cessé !
My friends! The words of this anthem do not tell about communism, but about glorification of the USSR like a land populated by dozens of nationalities, who love thier Motherland and Russia in its Federations as a uniting force for the USSR, as well as glorification of the power of the nation, united by one ideology (socialist - proMarks and Lenin). Thanks to all foreigners who visited this adress!
Bougaev Aleksandr "The words of this anthem do not tell about communism." Incorrect. The fourth line of the chorus is "Нас к торжеству коммунизма ведёт," which roughly translates to "The triumph of Communism leads us on."
I spent half my adult life working the other side of the Cold War, but it still sends shivers down my spine when you get 300 guys together to sing out the other side's national anthem.
Me switches on Russian keyboard
***** Not possibly, it is in fact. I'm not even russian but I love all that is related to the soviet times (Not the violence though, fucking Stalin got the hammer and sickle dirty with blood).
Vladimir Korsakov I totally agree with you, Stalin just ruined the whole idea that was about to really happen, finally. He hunted down Trotsky in Mexico who was he greatest opponent and did the most stupid thing nobody would consider about, he made contract with Hilter,I still say ''seriously, what had he done?''
TheChessboss He did what was needed though, the contract with Hitler was to prevent him from attacking the USSR, wich eventually happened. I'm not saying I want another Stalin, but the fact that he was there to fight hitler was a good thing, even though the casualties were horrible.
But even a better leader could do that without harming anyone, dont you agree?I mean why he had to be the leader? Also he prevented german troops the last moment before they reach Saint Petersburg.
This is the same as the current Russian one just changed the lyrics. Communism still runs deep, after all Putin was part of the Communist party before the Union collapsed.
Its useless arguing about what happens in Crimea, people simply don't get it, Russia doesn't want the war, America and Europe started all this, they want the conflict, and if this happens it will be the end for earth, at least justice will be finally done.
This beautiful composition is the musical depiction of the breaking of shackles... Under capitalism you may not be a slave to government, but you are a slave to money with no intrinsic value. The power of greed was even too much for the revolutionaries, and they turned to dictatorship. Even though the country that this stands for turned corrupt, the music continues to represent freedom from both the state and greed. May all men become brothers and greed fade from the Earth.
Despite Joseph Stalins failures, God Bless the Red Army and all the men that gave their lives to help defeat the Nazi Party and put an end to that madness. For if not for the sacrifice of Russian blood, our world would be much different today. Britain gave the time. America gave the money. The Motherland gave the blood.
United forever in friendship and labor, Our mighty republics will ever endure. The Great Soviet Union will live through the ages. The dream of a people their fortress secure. Long live our Soviet motherland, Built by the people's mighty hand. Long live our people, united and free. Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire, Shining in glory for all men to see. Through days dark and stormy where Great Lenin lead us Our eyes saw the bright sun of freedom above And Stalin our leader with faith in the people, Inspired us to build up the land that we love. Long live our Soviet motherland, Built by the people's mighty hand. Long live our people, united and free. Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire, Shining in glory for all men to see. We fought for the future, destroyed the invaders, And brought to our homeland the laurels of fame. Our glory will live in the memory of nations And all generations will honor her name. Long live our Soviet motherland, Built by the people's mighty hand. Long live our people, united and free. Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire, Shining in glory for all men to see.
Some weeks ago The Red Army choir visit my city.. And I must tell you that had never heard anything so beautiful in my life; should be mentioned that they made such a beautiful and perfect interpretation of the Mexican national anthem. (Plus other mexican songs) That whole audience was shocked and excited. And I'm proud that my people and I kept standing and we honor both homelands. Respect to Russia from México!
Communism, been in use five times. Worked 2 times, failed 3. Doesn't work. Capitalism, benn in use ???hu dred times, worked 5-8 times, failed everywhere else. Works I love political psychics
Everybody who is against Communism needs to think about the good sides. If it was used in 3rd world developing countries such as Africa it would be the best thing for them. Nobody would be poor starving everyone would have the same have what was needed for life as it was turned into a factorized state. Once it reached the point where it was developed enough Communism is a bad idea as it is in Canada, USA, Britain etc
It is used in China the biggest Communist state in the world and they are arguably the most wealthy country in the world. They could send America and Canada into bankruptcy if they wanted the money we owe them.
orestreinn true, it was used in somalia, which led to usa to immediately start bombing it and invading it as soon as it could. not to mention importing and fostering radical islamists afterwards, to bring 'democracy'. just like EVERY OTHER COUNTRY which attempted a socialist model. .......... Its hard to do anything when someone is bombing the fuck out of you, you know ores....
The power of music.... Even though I can't understand the words, I understand the voices of all Russian people, all of Russian Citizens. The People who generated authors such as Turghenyev, Tolstoy, Gorky...Musicians such as Tchaikovsky, Borodin, Scriabin, Glazunov...Should I quote more ? Russia was a nest of new ideas who were at a time wrongfully expedited. But can someone say that Guantanamo (before and during Obama) is better ?
a whole genre of music uninfluenced by john phillip sousa. just watch the victory day ceremony. incredible. my ancestors left there over a hundred years ago, and rightfully so (the empire was horrifying--did they expect to stay in power by banning vodka??), but i still enjoy the power of this music.
Like our comrades in Russia, Italy too had the second biggest communist party in Europe, after the Russian one. May we rise again, free from capitalist oppression and threats,
