Russian Red Army Ensemble - "Kamarinskaya".
Kamarinskaya is a Russian traditional dance, which is mostly known today as the Russian composer Mikhail Glinka's magnum opus.
---------------------------
The Red Army Choir (Choir Aleksandrov) is a performing ensemble that serves as the official army choir of the Russian armed forces.
The ensemble consists of a male choir, an orchestra, and a dance ensemble. The songs they perform range from Russian folk tunes to church hymns, operatic arias and popular music; examples include The Volga Boatmen's Song, Katyusha, Kalinka, Kernina and Ave Maria.
Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Red Army Choir has continued performing, entertaining audiences both inside and outside Russia.

I first heard this tune in my childhood, over half a century ago, and ADORED it back then. My parents' Red Army Ensemble record is a treasured possession, and 'Kamarinskaya' remains my favourite track of all.

people when hear the word army, they instantly get the picture of a strict place where you work out and learn to use weapons, but it's not just that. people learn art, to cook, and to take care of a garden
@christosvoskresye
@christosvoskresye 4 года назад
Well, I suppose it is also a place where you learn to fill out paperwork, wait for orders, and keep busy with pointless make-work assignments. None of those are really what an army is FOR, though -- and neither is art or gardening. For that matter, the purpose of a space program is not to develop nonstick frying pans.

Only in the red army~ my nation’s soldiers have no time off for art or music. It makes me sad to think about.
@franfinesim
@franfinesim 3 года назад
@@christosvoskresye you're pretty wrong. In the army you learn also basic stuff. My dad told me they had a special section for baking and for gardening. How do you think did soldiers eat? He said he won't forget the smell of freshly baked bread and cooked beans. My boyfriend's dad was an artist and played guitar in the army. Because of this, they eased some tasks. It was the Yugoslav national army. It was normal that many army bands competed in music
@christosvoskresye
@christosvoskresye Год назад
@@franfinesim I'm not sure what country (or planet) you're from, but in the USA soldiers do not grow their own food. Oh, there may be the random tomato plant someplace sedentary, like an Air Force base, but the bulk of the food is purchased, not grown by the DoD.
@franfinesim
@franfinesim Год назад
@@christosvoskresye my dad was a soldier for the Yugoslavian national armi or JNA. My dad worked in the artillery. My boyfriend's dad was a musician and was freed of some exercises, due to his painting and musical skills. His dad got later medals for saving the country. There were also contests in playing instruments. According to my dad JNA was a nightmare, but also a place where you learned discipline and how to act with dignity. Not only to protect their country. Those skills helped him 8 years later, after war started in 1991. You actually had to use your brain and think how to live without any luxury stuff. For example, which plants are healthy to eat, what plants are good to soothe pain after you get shot
