Thats often what the tank riders were for. Ive read a book from a commander of an SU-85. they almost always had tank riders with them. They also would also have a machine they could use if needed. @akken2112
More like the Jagdpanther is a German SU-100. The 100 is directly based on the 85 which is just an Su-122 assault gun with an AT gun swapped in. And the SU-122 came out well before the Jagdpanther did.
Why doesn't this tank get mentioned when talking about world war two instead of t 34 all the time don't get me wrong the t 34 was good on its day but Russia had other tanks just as important such as the s u 100 tank .
@@noorsheda1549no it is not. A tank destroyer has one job, to kill tanks, usually from ambush, they are mobile anti-tank guns. They cannot do what tanks do, they are used for defensive warfare, while tanks are useful for offensive warfare. They have no machine guns, no turrets. Tanks have many jobs besides just killing other tanks, they don't make thousands of tanks on each side just so they can blow them up and see who can kill more of them. A TD is definitely not a tank, which is why they came up with a new name for them and called them _tank destroyers_ . Just because they have tracks and guns doesn't make them all tanks. Just like we have cruisers, destroyers, battleships. All vessels with guns. Maybe they even look kind of similar to laymen, but there is a definite difference between a cruiser and a destroyer. Different roles, different construction.
