I recorded this Red Barn theme song off the radio back in 1970. Who'd a thought I'd be sharing it all these years later!?! ... When the hungeries hit, when the hungeries hit, hit the Red Barn. Hit the Red Barn.
Believe it or not, I have a Red Barn sign in my garage! It was my favorite restaurant as a kid and when I saw one in an antique shop one day, I had to buy it. There is a restaurant in Racine, Wisconsin called The Farm, which is an old Red Barn restaurant that still sells most of the menu items. I called and spoke with the owner and he was kind enough to tell me all about the restaurant. I live in Ohio but want to go there one day just to have their equivalent of a Barn Buster or some friend chicken. Thanks so much for posting this!
What good old times we had at the Sunnyvale, CA Red Barn. Big Barneys, Barn Busters and the chicken. Tarter Sauce fights after closing. We worked so hard, but sure had fun too. Miss that old place! My first real job. Early 1970's. Made $1.25 and hour when I started. LOL
I loved the fish sandwiches and haven't had one that good since. Thank you for the wonderful memories! .......................grumbles.........NOW....I want a Red Barn Fish Sandwich!!! :)))
I used to eat at Red Barn when I was a kid! Those were good times ( I , LOVED the big Barney and the chicken was good too, and the fish and chips) too bad they went out of business in the early 90’s ☹️
KLOK San Jose, I forgot about them! Funny thing is Red Barn may be long gone, but the buildings are still around, some still serving food (one on warm springs area of Fremont was a Chinese place last time I saw it)to one in San Jose selling medical equipment. When we moved to Fremont in '66 they were one of the few fast food places close to us, the other being a walk up taco bell. The food was really good, and I was surprised to find out they were a national chain rather then a Californian one. Management must have killed them.
The Red Barn in West Memphis, Arkansas was converted into Red Barn Sports Center in 1980, then it became a daycare center, now it sits vacant. A Red Barn in Memphis became a Minute Man, then it was converted into a Maytag appliance store. Maytag painted the exterior a lime green with a bright blue trim. It was the UGLIEST thing I ever saw! The Red Barn in Racine, Wisconsin is still open but under a different name, The Farm. When I was a child my dad took us there when it was still Red Barn.
05/10/18 Anyone familiar with the Red Barn location in Cincinnati, Ohio (Over-The-Rhine area) from back in 1970-1974? I'm trying to get a location and/or address. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I was watching a crime documentary show called Solved. The episode is about a crime taking place in Harrisburg, PA. At one point they mention the perpetrator going to a strip club, show a picture of a building, and I sat up in my chair and said that's a Red Barn! Upon pausing the show I could see it was called Adult World. I looked at street views of Adult World in Yorkville and Harrisburg and they're both Red Barns! Coincidence?
