@@CoveringFish I hope you’re right. No prosumner level videographer/filmmaker is gonna buy a $10000 RED over a cheaper option just because of internal RAW. There’s no reason for them to do this.
I honestly don't know what's more impressive, all of this great new gear or the fact that you have all of it completely grasped and broken down so well in such a short amount of time. Well done.
Yo' all might be interested in the DIY unit I built as I too thought that "boom swinging" would take its toll on the operator. (I created mine about 8 years ago!) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0AZR06bsR2I.html
@@JamesHartt Cool! I'm not sure where to start without one in my hand, but one question would be if the proxies are being auto uploaded, how are they added to the timeline in a way that the NLE understands that they are proxy, not original, files? Specifically in FCP in my case
Atoms is exactly what I’ve been looking for with the camera streaming from separate cameras at different locations… well, that product came along finally lol
I could easily rig up something with an ankle and a chest brace that would be 10x easier to setup and wouldn’t have any crazy electronics that’ll go bad mid take. It would be easier to hold and and cheap.
@@dslrvideoshooter A Director created this product and it's being backed by a very despised person in the film industry. If you were on pro forums you would realize that NOBODY who is a pro is happy about this product from the way it is designed to the marketing. Boom ops are agile, flexible, quick moving and adaptive in an instant. This thing allows for none of that and even in their marketing video, they are breaking rules of boom operating like crossing direct light sources and miscuing. If you are standing still booming someone, maybe you can use this but that doesn't happen in the real world. As for your comment " if it can keeps a few guys on set that would otherwise have to give up their craft why not right?"
I think I'll be pre-ordering the Atomos Connect for my Ninja V. I had already been looking at the AtomX SDI accessory, but the Connect has SDI built-in, and if I understand correctly the Atomos Connect also works with the Atomos Ultrasync One timecode product as well.
Atomos is like Apple. Everything is an extra cost and extra accessory. SDI should have been integrated in the ninja v+, but they have their $200 SDI module. I mean I don’t blame them, but it’s annoying.
Love what Aputure is doing... but I don't understand their business strategy. Release a brand new light (almost weekly) yet you can't buy any of them anywhere at least in the US because they are all backordered or unavailable completely. 🤔
Did you happen to see if that Osma G2 had a global shutter? Interesting camera at a great price point. Depending on more specific details, I can see it as a candidate for the ever changing camera arsenal.
Thanks @Spectrum, James from MAVIS. We’re delighted with our partnership with Atomos, it’s a match made in heaven. Please reach out if you need anymore information!
Great Video Caleb, James from MAVIS here, I was on the stand and helped create everything (cloud based) there, great to see your happy feedback. We’re delighted with our partnership with Atomos, we’re going to make a fantastic suit of tools and products together! Anyone who is interested please reach out!
I know that Nikon was never recomended for video but Nikon Z9 is probably the most advanced hybrid camera. Is there any possibility that you'll ever review it?
Thanks so much for the concise explanation of Atomos connect/cloud studio. The booth was mobbed, and it was hard to get a good explanation of all of the features. Wish I could have bumped in to you to say hi, and thanks.
The Zcam F8 does everything the Bosma offers and more, including internal prores recording... and it was released 3 years ago. The bosma doesn't even have public info or anyway to purchase. Looks like a quick cashgrab
Great explanation of Atomos cloud! Finally i understand the capabilities it sounds amazing! Live Production looks breathtaking, an entire control room made completely wireless and you can even use phones! Those cameras are 🔥, The Kondor Blue shoulder pad is much needed, and that Zombie rig looks sicm
You mention that red has a patent on internal raw, do you know if that patent include the "compressed raw" formats and does that mean cameras that record to CINEMADNG or ARRIRAW have to pay RED?
That "TILTA" rig I "invented" about 8 years ago ! I took one of the cheap Chinese shoulder rigs that allow you to have a 35mm camera in front of your eyes ... added some metalwork to allow the mike to rotate from side to side ... (on a telescopic pole so it can be used at different length ... and attached a bodybuilder bar to the end so I could strap on weights as a counterbalance. (In fact, the pole 'floats' with no need to hold it, so you can drop arms during takes.) And then a small / close to body movement raises or lowers the 8' pole. The only thing it doesn't do is tilt the mike end . (I'll have to see if I can find my video of it!) Total cost: about $50 ! Curently thinking about creating a second as they do in "live" studios so you can follow two actors at a time - each under their own mike - then "mix down" the audio before recording
@@Hamidu This is the link: (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0AZR06bsR2I.html) It's still in the throes of uploading / being compressed, so give it a little while. (I might add on version2, I used a lighter pole, and moved weights further back)
Hi Caleb! Love your content. Do you have a video that talks about how you get such a nice background and what lighting and backdrop material you are using now for the orange like color background. I know years ago you did a nice video on white vs grey backgrounds and LED lights, along with vinyl, etc. I am just curious of the new setup! Thanks.
The thing I like most about the Tilta zombie rig is the ability to change the angle of the mic - that's useful, even if you're otherwise booming normally.
Bosma is a bit confusing with the 8k broadcast camera since global broadcast standards are still 1080p. Seems like it would be a waste of time to use that workflow.
Any idea on startup time with the Bosma? Since there's only one battery, that may (or may not) be an issue. And did you happen to find the Teradek Wave? They were in one of the conference rooms upstairs. Similar to the Atomos and Yolobox but with branching capabilites over five feeds. And kudos on the video. Impressed by how you were able to be at the show then shoot in your studio for today's release!
That zombie rig looks very similar to something I saw on Instagram but couldn't find it again. It was a sound guy walking in an office environment and controlling it with a nucleus nano.
Dude! Beautiful audio! I was watching something else and suddenly played your video... wow! Lovely sound indeed! Would love to hear about your audio sweetening process! Cheers! :-)
Has Atomos/Nikon ever delivered on the 2019 “game changer” Filmmaker’s promise??? Yes, you can shoot ProRes Raw, but Apple never added a profile to FCPX to complete the process flow! Yes, you can fudge using the Sony Cin (that still makes the video chip for the Zx) or try Nlog but neither gives you a baseline you get from Red… or anything close.
Been waiting for the zombie rig for a while! I would love to have it to help me run sound. Being shorter than most talent makes me work harder for the shot whether I’m a cam op or boom op/sound mixer. I love what deity is doing with their tech and not breaking the bank for some of us on a smaller budget. Not super intrigued by the Red knock-off but it’s nice to see more box cams around. A lot great tech at this NAB.

Good job with the NAB 2022 round up, quite a refreshing approach from your side. But I have to confess that I couldn't focus all throughout the video because I noticed the 35mm Sirui by your side. Tell us all about that lens? How is it? Good I hope. I'm so curious about it.
I've been using the Teradek Wave to produce mobile streams but this Atomos solution and expandability is insane. Especially Atomos Live Production. Does the Atomos Connect feature a UI that you can change stream settings through or does that all have to be done via the cloud?
I like the idea of the Atomos Production but think I'd prefer to use a physical mixer rather than use a touchscreen. And what about latency? Are the feeds synced?
Sorry I missed you. There really were some amazing things this year! The Zombie rig was sick. I hope that gets produced. Seems like everything is going cloud based. Between Atmos and Blackmagic, pretty soon you won't need memory cards or hard drives anymore.
